The only pet peeve that I have with gifts that men get me is fake jewelry. Personally, I don't have a problem with guys who can't get me real jewelry; I'm not expecting anything extravagant or expensive. However, I think the biggest mistake a guy could make is getting their gal fake jewelry, particularly that 1928 jewelry that can be bought at Macy's; that sucks. :p Rule of thumb, if you can't get real jewelry, get something that's more meaningful. Heck, I'd settle for a bouquet of flowers.
@Laconophile Personally, I wouldn't mind a bag of Skittles... though many women would disagree with me in terms of that... seeing that they view it as a weight gainer. *shrugs*
Please look at the doghouse experiment this may clear things up for you! Beware of the doghouse was suppose to be a joke relax! Not all women are the same and neither are men, remember beware of the doghouse is a made up world!
I think it's reasonable for a woman to be a bit offended if her husband buys her something that's completely the opposite of what she likes, because that suggests he either doesn't know her as well as he should or didn't even try to get something she might like. I'd be annoyed if my husband bought me jewellery because I never wear that crap and I'd prefer he give me nothing than jewellery--it is the thought that counts, and giving me jewellery would suggest that he put no thought into my gift.
Honestly, I think you're as absurdly biased as that ridiculous commercial. While I agree with many of your comments about the ad itself, you went off about "more fat women than fat men" (not in my part of the world, So Cal, USA), and that you know SO MANY real marriages that have a dominant woman and a pussy guy. Really? 'Cuz I know lots of married people, and lots of "strong" women, and I still don't see a lot of marriages like that.
I really hate these kinda ads everytime one comes on it puts me in a bad mood becuase on the surface, you know it looks like its being offensive to men but like ramzpaul said its way more offensive to women, i mean the men are trying to be kind and please them and the girls are so ungrateful and bitchy... not all women are like that!... i wish we all wernt seen as men or women and just seen as a person makes me sad inside ='(
<3 the vid tho 5 star! you know for pointing it out
My theory is, women feel inferior to men, so ad companies play to this by showing men, their superiors, as incompetent, that in turn makes women feel good, so they then think the product being advertised makes them feel good, when in fact it's seeing their superiors in a negative light that gets their knickers wet.
In order for this to stop, women have to understand that they are not inferior, it's just that they FEEL inferior, which is their problem, and theirs alone.
And what about when women get men power tools as a gift? That happens often, and power tools are used for housework, so should men be as ungrateful as the whore in this ad?
What if she wanted a vacuum cleaner? It looked like a pretty decent one to me.
And you make a good point, where's his gift? The cheap fucking bitch.
The doghouse bullshit reminds me of that sleeping on the sofa crap, you see that a lot, pussified men heading for the sofa because they've upset the poor little princess, it's pathetic.
In their desperate attempt to paint men as dogs, they've successfully drove them away from their store, and convinced them that women are whores, I applaud them, it's about time someone made an ad showing men how shallow and pathetic women are, as if they didn't already know.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
ok...... your a like 50 year old man thinking you know EVERYTHING about women and all this shit lol, its just a freaking commercial for laughs not all girls are really like that. God...you stupid people.
Great video. I like how you pointed out the sexism against men but also how it paints women in a bad, stereotypical light as well. I'm a woman and I would never put my boyfriend "in the doghouse" - he's not my pet. It's pretty sad though, that so many commenters here, and people in general, think this shallow, materialistic attitude is how all women are. Men and women need to start respecting each other instead of attacking each other.
(Of all those gifts, I'd definitely take the RAM!)
I must be different than other women. I would LOVE to get a nice vaccum for a gift or Ram for my computer. I would love the simple thoughtful phrase of "Thanks for the Memories". I could care less about jewelry. The thought counts.... and like I said before... what is wrong with a vaccum? You could have one of those guys that cannot even remember to give you a gift.
Women must start buying their own jewels. They want rings and diamonds and gold, get a job! Women need to bring more to a relationship than a cootchie!!!
first off I do think this ad is pretty funny as you admit, yeah the stereo-types are just that at least it makes both sexes look bad
I am a woman and I think the computer memory gift was sweet esp with the note attached. Even if it were something I couldn't use I would appreciate the thought (but who can't use more memory lol). to be continued
Now gifts that could imply you aren't good enuf (exerciser) not doing enuf (vacuum) BAD idea(usually). I'm sure there are women who'd LOVE a gym memb. & even some would love the vac. but you'd be better off to buy the vac for the home at another time and give your wife a nice card & maybe a romantic dinner out (or in).
Reminds me of how my dad used to tell the congregation marriage is not legalized prostitution. Sex shouldn't be used as a tool to get the gift you want or your way in general.
JCP knows that men don't shop at their stores, so they're not worried about offending us. The ad is really aimed at females, who love to see men humiliated, bashed, degraded and belittled. Females then associate the happy feeling they get--from seeing males bashed and made fools of--to shopping a JCP.
When are boys and men going to figure out that females hate us? Females don't care that boys are discriminated against in schools...they only need us to empty the garbage and pave roads!
Well, uh...women are one-dimensional, generally speaking, and that one-dimension is me-me-me-me-me and me...
The 6+ me's only give the illusion of dimension--the illusion of depth.
There's also a variation of this illusion: Us-us-us-us-us and us...meaning, 'we females together'.
Not all, of course, but most of them. Males are much more concerned with the Big Picture, with politics, nations and civilization building, that's why we are multi-dimensional.

Guys, my point of view is that we can talk a lot about our points of views but there is only one way we can make JC Penney to regret having produced this video that promotes male inferiority (with humour of course - because this is the best way to pass the message and to reply to criticism by saying it is just a joke)... and that is...
As far as big women go (aside from the fact that many of them are very sexy). advertising tactics are ever so telling about their hypocrisy.

I too found the ad to be not only annoying as hell but beyond absurd. I have no clue what the use of jewelry is. It serves no function, brings nothing to the household, and costs and insane amount of money. It makes no sense to go bankrupt over a cluster of lumps of crystalized charcoal.
I really really tried to watch all of this video. For accuracy and fairness' sake. But this guy is just BORING! And not at all self-aware. Just one example, it evidently never occurred to him that the reason he sees more huge women (to put it far more nicely than he did) in Walmart than men...is because that is what he is focused, what he's looking for.
Rather than boycotting JC Penny because this attitude is prevalent in western society and is but a refection of it, I think that not getting married, standing up to women by telling it how it is and improving yourself is the best way of countering the misandry and denegration of masculinity in society.
If JC Penny has a cool drill on special, what the hey... But they can sell their crappy jewelery to men who choose to put themselves in the doghouse, by getting married.
I like how this guy starts off with American women are screwed up. Ok, but maybe American men are screwed up too. I think American men and women take themselves too much seriously. They can't laugh and love easily and worry about every little thing. Dude, you spend too much time with TV and computer
WTF dude, wise the fuck up, your shyte talking to one of your own, on the same side, abet with a different opinion. We are both men living in this misandric fucked up western society. If I knew you, I would be watching your back and it is you who should be ashamed of your shaming tactics mate and they ain't gonna change my views one iota. However if you replied rationally, who the fuck knows eh?
I am with the boycott of JCPenney AND I am also with Monad in declaring that men stop being deferential to women, stand up for themselves, be straightforward, direct, and outspoken, and implement strict self-improvement, self-dignity policies for themselves and other fellow men in order to ensure our survival in this world.
I can totally relate to the doghouse commercial. I gave my husband a Rolex watch for x-mas this year. He gave me pajamas. Last year he gave me a vacuum cleaner. And he agrees with your opinion on the commercial. He's going to the doghouse!!!
crh2010 said: "manginad01 thats your man you ball-less femtard"
So because I say something in jest about Johnie9's repeated calls to boycott JC Penny makes me a mangina who is being dicked by Johnie9 and is a ball less fembot?
Its extremist shyte like this that makes me want to distance myself from the MRM. Any slight criticism within and men are subject to the same shaming tactics that women use to shame men into line.
Next you'll be saying I've got a small penis and can't get a girl LOL!
GAWD yall cant just take a commercial as a joke?? seriously you must have never seen those redneck commercials where guys cant stop staring at our ass?
Yea, that commercial was definitely written by a female who is pissed at men, and I'm willing to bet that her dad is waiting at the top of that man-hate mountain.
I agree, men are too often depicted as morons or lacking balls ( or both ) in ads and on television programs. However, this is just a funny ad ! If there are women out there who are that shallow, they are few and far between ( at least in my circle of friends). I certainly wouldn't get torqued over getting a vacuum cleaner. Why can't we just enjoy the humor for what it is? HUMOR ! Probably men designed the ad anyway. Lighten up, is all I'm saying.
Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou!!!!! I completely agree. I'm a woman, but NOT a feminist and this ad PIxxED me off! I don't anticipate happy marriages for any women who take on that attitude. - one woman told me "I have a really happy marriage and I DO take this attitude when it comes to gifts...blah, blah, blah...I KNOW my husband values me more than just a maid..blah blah." All I thought in response was...I feel sorry for your husband.
I am a female and I find that ad to be amusing, but I do have to admit that I also find it offensive. I have received many gifts from my husband and find the thoughtful ones most impressive. If he remembers a particular CD and buys it that means more than jewels. Your correct that this makes women look like shrews, and while some are, some of us are just trying to have helthy relationships with men that care about us !! So good job on this.
ramzpaul.....YOU.......ARE..........GOD....... and I hope the whole female population sees this.... well, the ones that are complete (and you didn't want to say it) cunts. The other cool girls that would love computer upgrades can watch the commercial and laugh because they know they're not one. It's a good thing I'm dating the exception to the rule. Beautiful woman, thinks jewelery as a sign of affection is a joke but still finds it nice, says "it's the thought that counts".
Good commentary on a piece of misandric crap video from J C Penny. Maybe they will go tits up during this recession? Let's hope so. It is a bit demeaning to women too it is saying they are somewhat dysfunctional and retarded in male/female relationships and need constant reassurance by being given cheap J C Penny bobbles and beads.
So you don't have to watch the commercial again, here are those tags. "Punish"? "Deed"? Of course the most curious tag: "Arnold"?!
beware of dog house trouble exclusive holiday hilarious vacuum cleaner anniversary dual bag gift Arnold review board women girlfriend boyfriend wife husband Christmas worst ideas wrong punish deed presents bad doghouse
1. Creepy example of new marketing. Produce a video, publish it at no cost, and get zillions of people to watch it voluntarily and in a viral manner. Sadly, comentary on it, good or bad, gets more people to watch it.
2. It's a sad, sexist, and angry commercial. Imagine the roles reversed. Now imagine a national retail chain posting this video (showing the comic abuse of women). And then imagine network news probing further into the video's YouTube tags.
"there life has no meaning outside of a woman's approval!" what aver happened to self-respect? ...a generation of men raised by feminists!

An old classic from el hombre numero uno. As for me, I'll keep buying silver, not diamonds. For me and my future, not for a woman.
Remember, brothers...chase gold and silver, not pussy. And if pussy chases you, then you know you hold all the cards...and the gold and silver.

Women don't feel, IN THE LEAST, inferior to men.
They feel ENTITLED to receiving special treatment FROM men (thus, in essence, they feel superior to men).
This is why ads like this are made -- to exacerbate this mental state and the problem that results from this kind of thinking.

If I was in the "doghouse" with several other like minded men, I don't see how it would be such a terrible experience. I'd break out da weed.
