The story I remember about Bill Lee was when the Yanks & Sox got into a fight at Yankee Stadium around 1978, Lee got a black eye & separated shoulder. When he walked out of the locker room, he had his arm in a sling and his face all black & blue. Some dingbat asked him how he got hurt and he said, "I gave a NY cabbie a small tip."
Lee wasn't the only player blackballed around that time. So was Dave Kingman. He hit 35 home runs his last year in the majors, was cut & nobody picked him up.
@ij911 how many did you win? and you call this freedom.as if you can tell people what they can do to themselves.all the implement of today? were close to having fences on county borders becuase they are going up around waterfalls and people once sat there cant anymore.dont be a prick.
This is a prophet. The perfect incarnation of baseball. In one century, the historians will say that Bill Lee was THE baseball player of the XXe century.
I have been to Cuba and watched a few games while I was there. Those guys play the game with all their heart. I sat there smoking a really good ciger thinking this is how baseball should be played everywhere.

When I was a child, I had two hippy parents. When I grew up, I wanted to be a pro baseball player. I wanted to be Bill Lee.
