I may disagree with some of the GOP's points, but the fiscal reality is that unless we cut entitlements, we'll never get a handle on our deficits and debt.
@thevirtueallliberal Australia. America on television is not like America in real life. I find people are must less polarized. Politics on the internet brings out the worst in people.
Considering that I am less than two years shy of 50, I think the Republicans are once again following the most inane members of their party. I wounder how such ideas will affect the Teabagger nuts who carry sign saying, "Keep Government Away From My Medicare." Who on the Right Wing is supplying the GOP with these ideas? I sure hope the GOP keep spouting these ideas -- they are sure to get to lead to Democratic wins in upcoming elections.
Unlike, say, republicans? Lawyers who are experts in their fields often draft legislation. For example, I had a law school teacher who drafted two volumes of Illinois business law. But when the Republicans last held the majority, they allow industry lawyers to draft laws concerning their employers with no input from Democrats.
the problem is that not only are the republicans bought and paid for by the corporate lobbyist but those who should be against such corruption are also being bought and paid for by the same lobbyist that is why they call themselves conservative dems.. another name for a corporate lobbyist stooge..at least some of the dems have held out against being a total sellout if we had a congress of these progressives the country might have a chance but with the Supreme Courts ruling the prospects are dim
Not only do we have five Conservative justices controlling the decision of the Supreme Court, none of them are likely to retire for years to come. However the progressive Republican Stevens and the progressive Ginsburg are not going to last much longer. I hope they retire in time for Obama to appoint their replacements while we have a Democratic majority in the Senate. Stevens is likely to retire this year. If Ginsburg leaves, there are rumors afloat that Obama will appoint Hillary to her seat.
problem is that Obama didn't appoint a liberal in Sotomayor.. she has a record of voting inline with republicans ..maybe he will select a real progressive and not a middle or right leaning judge it's the only way to keep the court from rewriting the constitution to make the US the first solely owned subsidiary of a corporation
Hmm, maybe that's why you leftists have lost the last 3 elections for governorships, and recently lost big in Liberal big government loving massachusetts.
Now, social security should be privatized, medicare and medicade need to be elliminated and never should have existed to begin with.
One reason the Republicans might have won in Massachusetts is that state already has a popular government insurance program, so the federal position offers them no real gain
If social security have privatized when proposed by Bush, do you have any idea how many senors would have lost it all when the market crashed?
If we eliminated Medicare and Medicaid, have you any idea at the number of senior and poor Americans who would die daily as a result? Are their lives less important than ideology?
Scott Brown won because Martha Coakley ran a bad race Time, that's it . You seem to forget about that Owens race ? You know Osborne , I wonder how many big mouth Republicans like "Time" are on, or have used some type of social program before ? Cont.
TimeWarp, I will own your ass anytime on S.S. and a Medicare debate, if your not afraid that is ? I see you little GOP trolls leaving untruthful comments on my videos .I don't have time to answer them all . However, when I focus on one, you better have your facts straight my non-friend . You better believe I do....
Give millionaires back exactly what they paid - with reasonable interest and not one cent more. I watched a lady that inherited $2 million during her last 6 months of cancer. Medicare paid all her medical bills and she drew a SS check off her husband. She never worked or paid into the system.
Social Security is not solvent. New congressional estimates say the trust fund that supports Social Security disability will run out of money by 2017, leaving the program unable to pay full benefits, unless Congress acts. About two decades later, Social Security’s much larger retirement fund is projected to run dry as well. It's time to REFORM ALL GOVERNMENT ASSISTANT PROGRAMS NOW -- ELSE WE LOSE THEM! How about the first step to get millionaires off SS and Medicare?
