Look me up on facebook my name is arrington my-work porter or Tumblr - arrington321.tumblr.com im 18yrs old, please checkout out my drawings and give me your honest opinions
I met Art Porter at an independent music conference hosted by my mother and an oraganization she was affiliated with (midAIR) in Chicago. I was merely a child in the industry, literally, but I had always loved jazz, and I knew Art Porter well. He was a kind man, with a wam smile and always something nice, and or encouraging to say. I was devastated when I learned of his death. He will be missed always, by myself, my family, and many others.
I first met Art in a store I walked into. I asked the clerk who are ya'll playing on the store speakers and she said, let me ask my manager. She came back to say it was Art Porter and I was hooked. 1998 Baybrook Mall just out of Houston, Tx. It hurt when he died, it alway's does when a sound touches your life...
I live in Md. They play this on WHUR 96.3. I knew it was Lalah but I would always miss when they annouced the name of the song. I been looking for this for years. Thanks for the upload. What a great song!!
THANK YOU SOO MUCH vICTORNEWMAN06 FOR POSTING THIS VERSION. i'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS SOOOOO LONG. AND I'VE BEEN WAITING FOREVER FOR SOMEONE TO POST THE ORIGINAL VERSION OF THIS SONG ON HERE....THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PEACE BLESSINGS UNTO YOU!!!!!!!!
This was the very first Art Porter Song that I ever heard. It totally blew me away. I had no idea that he was a jazz musician.. So you could imagine what happened when I eventually discovered that he was one of the funkiest sax players of his generation. The jazz world lost a gem
RIP Art Porter Jr. He was only 30+ something when tradegy stuck. Which is basically no life at all for a person and even more than that an accomplished talented jazz saxophonist.
I often ask myself why are great, noble and talented soilders are taken away from us so soon in this world? When yet they still have so much to offer us and have made good, valid, genuine contributions in more ways than one.
Vic. This is croon3. My brother, I didn't know you were from Little Rock, so am I. I Lived off of Ringo St.[2110 off of wright Ave.]Lived in Village Square Apts. way back in the day.Holla at me cause Chuckii Booker is my homeboy and he played keys on my first single in 89'
That's cool, I live in Otter Creek...I used to get my hair cut off of Wright Ave (Esquire Styles) back in the day. That's cool, we have somewhat of a kinship, now LOL. Tell Chuckii he still has a fan (I used to play the hell out of "Games"). Holla at me, man and take care.
I never met Art Jr personally. I've given his CD's as gifts to people who think they don't like jazz -- they always have a change of attitude! I remember his dad, Art Sr and the Art Porter Trio from waaaaay back. I see Art Sr around Little Rock occasionally. Where did Art Jr's kids and wife settle down? Are they in Little Rock? Didn't Buddy Guy's son live here for a time, or do you know?
I love them two together!!! ... this has always always been a jam of mine. Art Porter - RIP* ... I'm missing your impecable sound. What a great musician he was. :-)
I cringe & I cry just thinking of how this young talented humble brothers life was cut so short. Art was a very very good natured person and I miss him and his hearty smile and laughter. He will live on in memory by the mark that he left behind, his wonderful music and his two Son's.
I have this CD and it's good. to anyone who digs this track, i reccommend you get the album. Good posting choice victornewman06, you have awesome taste.

I love this song. It is just so mellow. It takes me back to sitting on my deck on a warm summer's evening with a glass of wine.
