I always include a file called "IF FOUND.txt" with some contact info on my flash drives. It may be a long shot but I believe that if found that most people will return it if they can find the owner. I've found a couple flash drives and was able to return most of them by looking for name in one of the documents. The program mentioned will likely work until it gets popular because once people who steal things know about it getting around it will be simple.

The problem is if the person who stole it happens to have a decent firewall on there PC, this doesn't seem like its going to work due to the fact that most decent firewalls will question the user whenever a program tries to communicate to the internet, also if the thief is "tech savvy" im sure they will notice in a heartbeat that the "MyPasswords" file is an Executable and not a Text file, i think iHound might work fairly well in recovering lost items but not stolen items

theres a couple things you can do to make it seem legit even on the thiefs computer, just disguising the program by naming the document(or whatever) a different name so that when the firewall pulls up to ask if its safe and It shows a name generally most people know,they(the thief) withoutknowing just allowed something to go through
