lightly mute the strings below with your index finger, that way you can have the point of your index finger on the first fret of your hammer on then when you pull off it will be alot cleaner . if your pulling off from open just try pulling straight up although seeming as you made this comment nearly a year ago im sure you've overcome that problem xD
