If you want a superior corps, you got to go with the 1st Corps. Those guys were full of nothing but the best. Reynolds as Corps commander, Wadsworth and Doubleday as Division commaders, Solomon Meredith and Culter commanding the brigades, The Iron Brigade as a the first shock troops followed by Cutler's men; they were the best Corps in the Army of the Potomac.

If not for the 1st Corps the Union would have lost the first day.

Actually, some company did release 2 Napoleanic games using this engine. One of them is called - Austerlitz: Napoleon's Greatest Victory and the other is called Waterloo: Napoleon's Last Battle. They're pretty good games because they included Cavalry. And there's also the Close Combat games that are VERY similar to the Gettysburg engine but with a world war 2 theme and weapons. Check out Close Combat: Invasion Normandy. Its a a fun game....

The Close Combat games use the same game enging? Either way, the CC series is a classic and still the best games for platoon level tactical combat. The only other wargame out there that compares is the Theatre of War, and CC is better in my opinion. Regarding Gettysburg, I wish Sid Meier would make a modern version of this game. I played this game as a kid and have fond memories of it - awsome game!

I didn't say they use the SAME engine. I just said the two engines are very similar. ToW is good but the single player game is pretty much useless. Its seems very scripted. Atleast in Gettysburg the AI would do different things.

I've played Waterloo NLB and Sid's Antietam/South Mountain.Also TC2M But always come back to this.Truth is with all the enhacements including better graphics etc,etc,.They still dont seem to play as well as the original.

Ok, never tried those! The modifications that were available for Gettysburg was nice with added soldiers, different flags and what-now. Probably will try to find my CD and see if the game works on Win7 :)

I remember putting all my regiments into skirmishing formation. They would go in and fire a few volleys and then retreat. You would then have to send them back in...you lose ground easily but inflict a lot of casualties
