  • Woe to the house of priam

    Woe to Troy

    Woe to the World!

It's to late to say Whoa to the horse, I've just had orders to bring it into the city.

  • i played helen in a play... jeez that was fun

  • Such a wonderful lovestory I've known.

  • The name of Turkey is based on Turcus/Turcia names which also refers to Trojans. Many people dont know this but the name Turkey and Turkish also refers to Trojans and the Trojan king Bardanes Turcus.Other name of Byzantine empire (anatolian part) was 'Turcia/Turcus'.

  • what a load of shit. history shows that at the time of the trojan war, the Greeks, as a nation didn't exist, nor did rome. the turkish site of troy is wrong, if for no other reason that Achilles couldn't chase hector around the city as it was hard up against the mountain. the rivers mentioned in the Iliad are nowhere to be found and the plain wasn't large enough to hold the armies. I would suggest that those interested read a book called: Where Troy Once Stood is a book by Iman Wilkens

  • @slatibaadfast "the city was hard up against the mountain"? you haven't visited Troy/Hissarlik then, otherwise you would know the location yourself. besides the Trojan War took place at the end of of the Mycenaean Greek period, just before the Classic Greek period, which is the one I suppose you refer to as 'the Greeks'. you should read just a little more to know that!

  • @misspellicula, ah, thanks for that. No, I haven't visited the site. I am curious, what information do you base your premise on? the only 'written' history of the Trojan war is from the Iliad and the Odysseus, works by Homer. all other references are taken from those, including but not limited to Virgil. the real problems, beside that fact that the "city of troy" was, indeed against the mountains is the fact that, as I said the Greek civilization at that time didn't exist. secondly, it has ...

  • @slatibaadfast @slatibaadfast hi! I don't know why you keep saying that the Greeks weren't around at the time. the Myceneans were Greeks! there were many Greek tribes, like the Dorians, Ionians and Aeolians, thi latest being the guys who established the Mycenean culture on the Pelloponesos around 1600BC. They spoke Greek!

besides it is not only Homer from who we know of the Troyan war- you can find mentions in the Hettite tablets also- the city of hettite Wilusa as being the same as Troy.

  • @misspellicula that's the point. there were Greek TRIBES. a motley collection of peoples that were not a nation. Especially a nation powerful enough to go to war under one leader. besides, sit with a map of the Mediterranean and copies of the Iliad and Odyssey and map out the routes, distances and travel times mentioned. it is impossible to successfully do so in the Mediterranean. unfortunately space does not permit a more in depth explanation.

  • @misspellicula ...been bandied about that the works of homer, in their original form were oral, and therefore handed down from generation to generation for as much as a 1000 years before they were committed to parchment around the 9th century BCE. there is more than enough information available for the inquiring mind. on the proviso that said mind isn't closed to discovery.

  • @slatibaadfast hi! • the hettites mention that there was a conflict between the Myceneans ad the Troyans at around the same time. TRoy was a rich and influencial city and the Greeks wanted a piece of it!

The Troyan war was/is a historical fact. but whether Achilles chased Hector around 3 times or not, let's leave that one for the legends! :)

  • @slatibaadfast tribes or not, they are Greek against Troy, 'nuff said.

  • THE TROJAN WAR IS TRUE.

  • Comment removed

  • i'm just watching this for fun

  • The Trojan war happened because the Greeks wanted to get extended to the East. Troy was the most powerful and rich city and gate to this achievement. So they had to conquer Troy. That 's the true reason. Now, what Homer wrote about Helen being the reason of this war is just literary touch in order to make the whole story romantic...THE TRUE REASON OF THE TROJAN WAR WERE THE EXPANSIONARY ASPIRATIONS OF THE GREEK ARMY TO EXTEND THE BORDERS OF THE COUNTRY.

  • There was a war and it happened like today, June 11 of the year 1184 BC. Now if the war was really fought for love is a different story.

  • this video = homework = no need to reed my 500 page book

  • there was no troy, its made up story by iliad

  • @zia685 My friend , Troy has found by eric sliman so it wasnt just a poem . . . Sliman also found Mykines.. Same period..

  • truth about troy: he likes weed and butt

  • Please don't hate Helen.. because shes beautiful.

  • im also watchin this for homework

  • im alao watchin this for homework

  • Did Troy really exist? Yes you idiots, they found it like 150 years ago. Maybe Homer's version isnt 100% accurate, but there was a war, otherwise there wouldnt be a story. But then again, this is BBC footage, they dont know how to report whats happening today, let alone what happened thousands of years ago!

  • @Raducu2oo5 War or otherwise there wouldn't be a story ?

    Are you dumb ?

I am not saying that Trojan War happened or not, but your argument is illogical. It's like saying ancient tales of dragons existed otherwise there wouldn't be stories.

  • Can anybody help me ? Im having problems putting this video on my powerpoint . It is because the powerpoint couldnt support it . I do not understand why . Any help?

  • helen was probably myth.trojan was blocing the greecs to sell and buy things with the very rich nasions behind trojan. in histrory of greece all time was fighting sparta and athens.but ALEXANDER THE GREAT joined Greec nasions even the two ancient nasions athens and sparta

  • Trojan War

  • that sums it up pretty good

  • homework...me too but its in fact interesting but no time to get into it this report is due tonights so yea!

  • So Helen is the only reason why The Trojan War begin?

  • @seanwayne1196 troy was an ancient greek city...obviusly spartans and mycine wanted so they collect their ally and conquer

thats the bad thing for us greeks

    we always fight each other

    macedonia attacked greek states

    athens attacked greek states

    sparta same

    korinth also.....

the biggest enemy of greece is greece

  • @seanwayne1196 no it is one of the reasons, Menelaos wanted Helen back while his brother Agamemnon wanted to conquer Troy to satisfy his own ego...

  • @seanwayne1196 Depends how you look at it....its like asking "is NATO bombing Libya just because Gaddhafi was shooting the rebels?"...probably not :P

  • Agamemnon is the commander-in-chief, not the king... i guess

  • hey, how do you all know about the history of my country? It really surprises me....

  • agh i cant find the trojan war and y it happend

  • @DriftStar101 type in on google trojan war and read the wikapedia

  • @DriftStar101 did you even hear what the guy was saying? the most beautiful woman in the world was married to a greek king but seduced to the trojan prince called paris. and greek king wanted her back so war started. trojan war, just google it.

  • @yellohwarrior u all are totaly fucked up...the trojan war was totaly and simple for economical reasons...first of all...try to understand that WHAT THE MOVIE CALLS WITH THE MODERN WAY GREEKS WAS ACHAIOI...THE NAME GREECE THEN DIDNT USED...TROJANS WAS GREEKS TOO WHO LIVED IN TROY...LIKE SPARTANS LIVED IN SPARTA!THEIR ORIGIN WAS FROM GREEK ISLAND OF LIMNOS.TROYS POWER GROW BIG BECAUSE OF TRADES AND THE IMPORTANCE OF GEOGRAFICAL PLACE.THEY PUT HEAVY TAXES ON SHIPS.THE METROPOLIS GREEKS (ACHAIOI)

  • @1976gs YOU are fucked up stop it with the CAPS and wtf trojan war had nothing to do with economical reasons..

  • @yellohwarrior TRY TO CHANGE YOUR FUCKING NAME FIRST YELLO...TRY THE WHIE LIKE VIRGIN BECAUSE THAT U ARE...U ARE A BABY...GO AND READ A FUCKING BOOK U REETARD...NO ECONOMIC REASON?YES AND CINDERELLA IS YOUR GRANDMOTHER...GO TO SLEEP...

  • @1976gs fucking retard, 1st somehow i need to change my name, 'yelloh' yes spelt with a H im not blind or dumb is the skin of east asian people so dont try to correct me. heh you spelt it 'yello' which is wrong for both. 2nd WILL YOU STOP WITH THE FUCKING CAPS I CAN BARELY READ EM. 3rd, you say its economical reasons, but BBCWORLDWIDE says why in the video. so just shut your mouth and stop flaming me.

  • @yellohwarrior you silly bitch...bbc offten sais fairytells...

  • @1976gs oh yeah then i guess every webpage on the internet that tells this story are telling fairytales. oh yeah you spelt fairytales, often and says wrong. and its meant to be tell not say. your crazy.

  • @yellohwarrior HAD TO REACT AND ACT SON.THEY FORMED AN ALLIANCE AND THE WAR STARTED...BUT TO START U NEED SOME STORY TO WORK IT...THINK THE GUNNS US NEVER FOUND IN IRAK...SO, IN FACT THIS WAS A CIVIL WAR...GREEKS FROM THE MAIN LAND AGAINST THE NEW ECONOMIC POWER OF GREEKS FROM TROY...

  • @yellohwarrior LIKE OMIROS(HOMER) SAID GREEKS(HELLINES) HAD THE SAME GODS ,SAME LANGUAGE,SAME COULTURE WITH THE GREEK TROJANS...THINK ABOUT IT...OR READ THE AUTHENTIK ILLIADA OF HOMER...AND IF U THINK I LIE THINK THAT THE SAME TOLD EVERYONE UNTIL SLEMAN FOUND OF TROY 100YEARS AGO...AND MORE...

  • @yellohwarrior AND AFTER THE GREEKS OF MAINLAND WERE AWAY OF THEIR KINGDOMS WHAT HAPPENED?RIVALS CAME TO TAKE THEIR THRONE,ANARCHY AND AGAIN CIVIL WAR...AND THIS LEED TO THE DORIIS...WHO RIZE AS NEW POWER...GREEK AGAIN...ALL OF THEM :ACHAOI,DORIIS,AIOLEIS,IONES!PART OF THE DORIIS WAS MACEDONIANS...THE GREEKS NOT SLAVS WHO CLAIME OUR HISTORY...OK?FROM THE WORD MAKEDNOS WHICH MEENS TALL.END OF CLASS.

  • @DriftStar101 why did the crusades of the knights happen? Same reason...

  • Im Just Watching This For HomeWork

  • @MasterOfTheDead1990 i laughed so hard when i read that <3

  • @MasterOfTheDead1990 i was about to thumbs you up but you already have enough thumbs up

  • Ellurya was a region in the southeast of minorasia.Ellurya was the origin-name for illyria in oldgreek.Believe me; the dardania from tarhuntassa(minorasia/southcoast) was the same tribe like in the north from epirus.Dardania and dory were the first tribe in rome(legends)=they were the same;too!Dory came from the north of epirus(legend)....I know the truth about the trojan war...

  • Emrin jem esht Dardan, huahuahauah.

Either way, I don't believe that Troyans were of Illyrian Origin, or had any term with them such close.

  • Yes, Troy did exists. In fact, you can still visit it's remains today (it's in a place called Hisarlik). There were over nine cities of Troy, one built over the other. They actually have evidence that Troy VII ended in war. They probably over exagurated the rest.

  • what were the tactics that were used in the war?

  • Its incorrect to say that the war was fought for love because only one man was fighting for love. Paris loved Helen, Menelaus was fighting for his honor of having his wife taken from him, the only reason he did not kill Helen when he got her back was because of her beauty. Agamemnon was motivated by the idea of warfare and wanted to capture the city, Achilles fought for glory.

  • i dunno if trojans were greek illyrian or thracians....but the truth is there is more evidence to thracian reason is because of DARDANIA the trojan sometimes called themselves dardanian....lol homer said they were thracians... while greeks and albanians fight.... thracians are looking down and laughin at us...

sad how i heard todays greek claim that ancient writers misinterpreted the origins of Pelasgians, you only need money to change history..... no wounder why greece is in dept

  • ;lol i love reading comments with people arguing.... lol

i bet in 100 years time italian will claim Lithuanians to be italians becuase italians write their history and lithuanians used latin alphabet....

    lollllllllllllll

  • I bet trojans were actual Thracians...while greeks and albanians fight.... i bet Thracians are all looking down at you and laughin at you stupidity... homer clearly mentions trojans as barbaric to greeks

  • Albanians are descendants of Thracians also...And Kosovoalbanians were called Dardanians which was a synonym for Trojans.

  • @UlpianaButterFly of course i know that kosovo have thracian roots too aswell lol......

  • Comment removed

  • That didn't answer anything!

  • DO NOT mistake Albania and Kosovo, I see most of you do. I myself don't think that Achilles was Albanian, not by any means of his Name or Armor Symbols. Plus, he is the Son of 'Zeus', which is in the Greek Mythology, and it clearly declares that Achilles is Greek. Every Word has its own translation in all Languages, inculding A K I L E T, where in Albanian means 'Dritë', in English 'Light', German 'Licht' etc.

  • @dadigohan not every language has a translation for every word. some languages don't have any word at all for certain things or concepts, though i think these are mostly the more primitive languages.

  • Tojan wars?? WTF? Why would someone fight over condoms?

  • Achilles was very light..wich u can see it on his name AK I LET =Akilet wich mean very light and fast..

Achillls was illyran and also Hector was Illyran thats why when Achilles and Hector talk they did not need a translater also if u see the book of Homer and Ilda u will see that they were of the same origin.

thats why the name Achilles mean in the albanian langauge light also in his armour achilles had the Eagle wings meaning am very light

  • @albo4ever777 achilles is from thessaly from the best sources he wasnt a albanian piece of shit sorry. or illyran

  • no achillies was real and so wa the war but achillies between his armour and sheer stenth didnt really feel pain

  • How old are you, five? Don't be ridiculous.

  • so is the war real? and did acchille really exist and is he imortal? becasue acchille's mom dip him into this pond, and he became imortal.

  • theres no proof he was immortal due to the fact he died but he was the greatest warrior known to man

  • He was a thug.

  • we don't know if the war was real or not...but achille was't immortal, because he did die.

  • Achilles wasn't immortal, he was invincible (except for his heel, of course), there is a difference. His mother dipped him in the River Styx.

  • How is it Albanian? The story itself is Greek, but the city was likely in Anatolia (Turkey)

  • Homer was Ionian, although seven cities claimed him, they were all Ionian.

  • trojan war is a beautiful story

  • were doing a play on this story i play helen wicked or what

  • i rather pity you for your plain stupidity that leads you into truly believing the ancient greeks stole everything from other cultures. we call it paranoia. go get yourself some proper treatment.

  • you keep repeating yourself over and over again without any back-up.

...and there s statistically a higher crime rate among albanians.

what is true is, you re nothing but blind bigot.

  • thnk you for the great entertainment provided by your wannabe-approach to historic matters.

  • my comments must have affected your current state of mind. go visit a psychologist to recover your sanity or what is left of it.

  • lol, where s the context between the ancient achaeans and the more ancient city of uruk in mesopotamia? my deepest sympathies to you.

  • You bacame smart from Uruk....they thought you nearly everything!

  • learn how to speak and how to type in english first. it s getting more and more embarrassing.

  • i pity you you don't know slang......

  • Comment removed

  • no need to know slang since i am not a wretched low-life like you from the slums.

and besides you re not using SLANG but broken english common for knuckleheads like you.

  • hmmm, wasn t it greek culture that became the cradl of europe`s science etc. no one s talking about albania. what a pity:)

  • hmmmmm wasn't it the greeks that borrowed from Uruk?...i pity you....

  • and i pity you more for you haven t ever heard of cultural exchange in the course of time, mental midget.

  • hmmmmm i pityu you you claim phoenician alphabet as your own..... and uruk medicine

  • no one s claiming that greek alphabet derives from phoenician one. how d you know?are you a renowned archaeologist or just another biased pseudo-scholar? my condolences to your poor parents.

  • WE know the Greek alphabet derives from Phoenician, because the alphabet has meaning in Aramaic, Aleph = Ox, Beta = beth, originally angular, , Gamma = Gamel or Camel, obvious from the hump. Delta = Daleth, a tent door. In Greek it's just a jingle.

All this, apart from the fact that the Greeks actually called their letters Phoenician Characters.

Spartan, you're an ignorant fuck-wit. Don't mess with educated folk, you'll just look stupid.

  • @gamesbok you re the dimwit in here, mofo. you ain t even an archaeologist. so shut the fuck up and keep jerking off your wiener.

  • Do you actually have an arguement?

  • @gamesbok

It is true that the greeks learned the "Greek" alphabet from the Phoenecians, but don't expect the new or modern greeks to accept anything that has to do with the truth. The entire modern Greek nation is a lie. Today's greeks have nothing incoment with the ancient greeks. Their nation was created 1821 when western philhellenes made them believe that they are the descendants of the ancient greeks/hellenes.

  • @gamesbok

Today's greeks are just a mix of many different ethnicities that were living in Greece, such as Arvanites(Albanians),Slavs, Vlachs, christian Turks. If you read their constitution of 1827 for example it says that a Greek person is someone that is a)Orthodox christian and b) lives in Greece.

  • @gamesbok

The modern Greek language is the only artificial langauge in Europe and about 200 years ago the local ppl in Greece didn't know this language besides the clerics. And also the majority of the "Greek" independence heroes were Arvanites/Albanians.

  • Jesus you've got a nasty bug up your ass.

  • @gamesbok

Actuelly there are no bugs during this time of the year here at my place...but I don't know how it is at your place.

  • @UlpianaButterFly And to be honest the Greek DNA was never lost since the Ottomans took pride for treating the Greeks as slaves in their books. On the other hand, after 400 years of ottoman occupation all Greeks wanted to become part of the ottoman military and it was considered an honor to do so since being Greek was considered sub human. Nobody said we're blond with blue eyes like Homer's characters but don't demolish every single fact just to make your point!

  • @arikat1 all greeks wanted to be part of turkish army...?are you so fucked up?are you crazy?get to see a good doctor...most of them was prisoners like karaiskakis and many times left...or others did it to make a living for their families...you lost your head...

  • @arikatAFTER CONTROLING MY NERVES AND BETTER LOOKING OF YOUR WRITING I THINK THAT I CURSED U FOR NOTHING...I THOUGT THAT EISAI TIPOTA KOLOTOYRKOSPORA I SLAVOS...SORRY...

  • @1976gs haha nai re megale ti ksespasma htan auto...

  • That is one extremely stupid statement. Only an albanian (no brains, no culture, education is a latin word with no meaning in albania) can try and spread such a bullshit. Go learn a bit of history, primitive immigrant. Better yet, go back to your cental asian homeland to chase goats and sheep, if you even know what these are.

  • @UlpianaButterFly They didn't know the language cause they were occupied. The clerics and few others who attended secret schools did. What is your point? I'm sorry but the (european backed) revolution started from mani (sparta region for the holywood fans) As far as we are ottoman and slav descendants you are slav tribes coming from the North! Who is the cousin of Sokrates now?! HA!!!

  • @arikat1 you propably are something...but for sure not Greek...you wish thow...

  • i d rather say albanians are still pissed off since they havent had a country of their own for a loooooooong time. heradotus is still criticized by historians. he was NO reliable source.

  • Critized by historians??? you mean greek historians? why pay a lot of money to deny albanian origins to illyrians?

  • yes, he s criticized by a number of international historians.

scroll back and read thoroughly what i posted before about the critique.

  • you mean international historians with GREEK origins right????? i thought so....

  • lol, still suffering under paranoia?how about visiting a psychologist. yea there are grecos everywhere attempting to thrust a knife into your chest

  • i know the truth doesn t agree with you.

  • make up your mind, mofo. trojans were partly achaeans. to be precise, a mix of arcadians and phrygians!

  • Trojans were partly thracians and a mixture of Phrygians and luwians

  • arcadians and phrygians

  • so what did homer say again?trojans are non-achaeans?hmmm, hold on, so that s just a myth right?still on drugs, ain t you?

  • homers iliad is based on myths and facts!!!!! you fooooool

  • so what is fact what is myth. i doubt you re qualified to answer this.

  • according to homer no interpreter was present to do the translation. ridiculous you are. do yourself a favor and quit putting shame on yourself.

  • nah the trojans and achaeans seemingly understood each other

  • The Trojans in the Iliad have no difficulty in speaking to their Greek opponents.

  • agahaghagahaghaghaga just because the trojans learnt how to speak greek it don't mean they were greek!

is half of the world english since a lot of people speak english???? your a jokeeeeeeeeee

  • have at you. the historic facts are against you. you can t even back up your idle claims properly, goon. greek no, but ancient greek maybe.

  • you re running out of reliable arguments. knocked out in the 2nd round.

  • sorry thats too late i think you were knocked out ages ago......

  • don t imitate innovate, freak. you can t back up anything:) making you look like an internet fool.

  • Greek legend gives further indications on the subject of language at Troy. For one thing, the allies of Troy, listed at length in the Trojan Battle Order which closes book 2 of the Iliad, are depicted as speaking various languages and thus needing to have orders translated to them by their commanders (2.802-6). .

  • greeks don t claim anything that isnt theirs. and the illiad is one of greece`s national treasures.

  • sorry, the illiad starts with the wrath of achilleus during the final year.

  • then come back again. how about giving some quotations.

  • achaeans, dardanians and hence trojans...they all claim the same origin, be it divine or mere mortal.

  • yes but greek considered the barbaric which means non-hellenic! hellens came later

  • you keep talking about greeks like a broken record, listen mofo, when you refer to the ancient forebears of nowadays`greeks, call them argives or achaeans or danaans! greece didn t exist yet as a nation. the trojans had achaean ancestors. dardanos was arcadian. full stop.

  • greek propergandaaaa....claim everything...hey even ADEM AND EVE......

  • what do adam and eve got to do with this issue, idiot? adam and eve are rather judaeo-christian figures other than achaean.

  • dardanians and trojans were related. so were their greek cousins.

  • oh as far as i know russians compared to greeks are slavs. you know nothing.

  • who said this? you got no proofs. dardanians and thracians were different from one another. trojans emerged from the dardanians. the dardanians had their origin in mainland greece.

  • dardanians were considered a thracian tribe who were kin with illyrians! homer and Heradotus clearly states this!

  • homer states that dardanos was achaean! homer never refers to the thracians as dardanians. thracians and dardanians were both trojan allies. that s all.the illyrians later came into play when there were no more trojans left.

  • homer states that they were not greek!

  • well, go read homer`s reference to the greek origin of the trojans and dardanians.

  • i have the book....in the begining of the book in the introduction it clearly states, they were considered barbaric by ancient hellens....meaning non greek.....i have a better idea why don't you buy the book?

  • lol, im sure i have more books in my book shelf than you. why don t you read the "illiad" in prose? the trojan allies are listed there and they all speak different languages. the achaeans had no difficulty talking to their trojan cousins according to HOMER.

  • all different languages means all different origins!

  • hahahaha, the different languages were spoken by troy`s allies. but trojans and achaeans had no difficulty understanding each other. you stepped on the poop i laid before you.

  • Trojans never spoke greek, they spoke a thraco-luwian language

  • oh, homer never mentions this. and the claim that they spoke luwian is still a non-verified theory. sorry to disappoint you. don t make references to homer when at the same time contradicting him.

  • homers story was based on myths and truths if you want to read some proper history read HERADOTUS and THUCYDIDES

  • homer s story based on legends and myths?hahaha, tell me idiot, wasn t it you you referred to homer as the one who described the trojans as being non-achaeans?now you contradict yourself. i pity u.

  • pity my ass..... i mentioned to you homer was based on myths and facts from the begining!

  • so your claim that trojans are non-achaeans is also based on myths right? very awkward of you.

  • heradotus and thucydides, their views are not reliable enough to serve my ends. their statements are loosely based on what greek bards sang to them about the trojan war, hahaha.

  • Heradotus and Thucydides views are not reliable to your because your scared of the truth!

    trojans were non greek!

  • lol, isn t it you that keeps denying the truth? you make a fool of yourself. thnks for the entertainment.

  • isn;t it you who ignores Heradotus and Thucydides real history facts????

  • no, both greeks are not reliable enough. read this:

There are many cases in which Herodotus, not certain of the truth of a certain event or unimpressed by the dull "facts" that he received, reported the several most famous accounts of a given subject or process and then wrote what he believed was the most probable

  • who made this up??? a greek...because they are scared of the truth! heradotus was telling the truth!

  • lol heradotus was greek, you idiot. hahaha.
