  • I have to say that everything I have watched on here I have put into my "ground game" and it has made me X20 better at what I do. I cant thank you enough. Your videos are great, and your teaching is even better. I wish there was a 10th planet in SC. I would definitely be in there.

  • what if the hips are low? or what if he goes to gatame like ready to mount?

  • all the guy on the top has to do to counter that is move up..leg pendulum swing is a better move to get out...

  • Just wanted to say I love your videos. It's good to come home and watch these if I didn't fully understand something during training, reviewing old stuff, or picking up new things to try while sparring. Keep kicking ass Ari!

  • that was freakin awesome, I get crushed all the time when I am in the NS and I hate. I will definitely add this to my rep. thank you for the video!

  • I tried this after seeing your video. I couldn't pull it off, but it is a cool move that I will keep working.

  • I really need this north south escapes because i get choked all the time from this position.

How can i defend the north south choke?

  • That is a steezy little sweep dog!

  • I think that would be easy to gaurd, it seems like it would work, but not as often as convenient.

  • you guys are getting mad props from ottawa... yo at 203 i think dan gets a little L bow in th face...frigin aris playing hockey er wha??? lol

  • wow realy nice escape !!

  • This type of no-gi north-south escape is OK if your opponents arms are under your arms (like 0:48).

Can you PLEASE post a vid of a north-south escape if your opponent's arms are ABOVE your arms (ie. bent back around your neck, with your arms NOT between his arms and your neck).

    THANKS !!!

  • This is great, but my problem is the bigger/taller guys having more of their body on top. The lack of room is tough to roll up and ideas?

  • U could be to far under thats why u can't roll. If they got a gi use it; grab it and push on it. Another thing u can do is Swing your legs in the air like a pendulum while pushing away and turn or do whatever u like when u have enough space, just watch your back when u do this and you might end up in a sprawl which is easier to get out of. I can't do this roll either i haven't practiced it enough I guess, so i try other things.

  • thanks!!

  • this is awesome... i saw this in a Rickson/Royler demo video a while ago, but couldn't find it anywhere.

you guys rock, thanks for ALL the posts!

  • im safe to say im close to my blue belt(my instructor showed it to me and for the next month will continue to kick my ass/make me drool over it) and i have never seen that, and it seems so simple...next roll im doing this

  • nice to hear that mate! hope you got the belt! :)

  • This move works! I did it in competition (submission wrestling) and escape N/S. I was losing on points and after that move I won!

  • sweet

  • know any submission or move that can be done very fast if u need to perform it in a hurry but is still effective?if so could u tell me the name and if u have a video on it please tell me.btw nice videos

  • love your movies, best instructions I've found on youtube. Similar to my ju-jutsu practice :)

  • It works

  • Has anyone tried this while rolling? Did it work for you?

  • yeah but it worked like after 4 mins when the guy is pretty gased out

  • Is it wrong that i think i'm in love with you guys?

  • Yes, it is.

You can love the site though ;-)

  • LOL

  • awesome comment, your guys are great btw, you've really inspired me too improve my game

  • what is going to stop him from just grabbing your melon?

  • Holy shit, this had to be the best thing I saw from you guys yet. I'm now subscribing to your vids.

  • Sweet. Looks like fun.

  • North-South position is much harder to get out of when there is a gi involved. Much more material to hold on to. Could you show us an escape with the gi on?

  • Jason Chambers uses this escape in the Judo Episode (Episode 5) of "Human Weapon" on the history channel. He's in Gi against a resisting Judo Black Belt using Jason's Gi for control.

  • Check out the related videos. Kenprimo does pretty well the exact same escape, but with gi.

  • wait a minute...didnt eddie show this in one of his books?

  • not quite... in his book it looks.. like he is going for the back ,but when the guy counters he switches this escape into half guard by hooking a foot inside one of the attacking guys thigh.

  • thats a sweet escape thanx dude

  • Good one when you want to do a RNC!

  • Im 5'10 270, I can safely say that I will never do that move, nor will it ever be done on me!

  • You are probably right Evan! But thank goodness there are so many other options for you to use (or be used on you). Ain't JJ wonderful ;-)

  • It sure is... It sure is!

  • Ever's a strong word. Not likely to be done to you but if you don't use your weight correctly you might give your opponent space enough to do it despite your weight.

  • thank you guys you are awesome 5 stars

  • Nice one! Would you mind posting some escapes for when they take your back?
