  • Amazing tips in both tutorials, I can't wait to experiment on my own. Good job!

  • Thanks man, really good tutorial, very concise and easy to understand!

  • Your top 5 tips have really turned a Mini into a Ferarri. Thanks man!

  • majoro carroll you gotta use the tiny button by the loop name to drag it to the arrange window, then turn the drum machine off so the loop the plays and ultra beat dosnt carry on ad-nauseam. took me ages to work that last bit out!

  • now, one more reason not to leave the house. this tutorial is really helpful. :) thanks!

  • these are really the best tutorials on ultrabeat Ive seen, Ive got like 60k views on my tutorial and thought I knew alot about it but I've even learned some cool stuff from you.... you are very cool!

  • Great Tips! Awesome job.

  • very helpful mate (Y) cheers :D

  • Can anyone please tell me if you have the same possibility of tweaking each single sample in the EXS24 Sample like you can do in UltraBeat in the step editing mode?

    Thanks

  • my aux input only goes up to 15-16..how do i get more?

  • @joe9090joe

Good question... I was asking myself the same.

  • @joe9090joe When you click the + button you should get 8 stereo channels and 8 mono. Make sure you've selected the correct setting when you create the Ultrabeat (there are a couple of options).

  • really good tutorial. much appreciated.

  • thanks so much for uploading these dan, i have just decided to switch to logic from reason and am you've done a fabulous job of explaining how to squeeze all the juice out of the extra features that UB has over redrum :)

  • good stuff man

  • awesome! thits two tuts helps sooooo much

  • Thanks, I learned alot from your UB videos!

  • is there a way to "nudge" a sample or drum to the left or right...make it hit earlier or later than the exact beat? How do i do this?

  • @Nokstar I would do that after dragging the sequence into the window. Use the piano roll editor or record the lead in/ late hits.

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH....

  • Good lesson. Just what I needed to make sure this would work for me. Tomorrow I will purchase Logic Express 9.

    Thank you!

  • Very useful stuff. cheers!

  • Great! it`s very helpful!

  • great tutorial, I just keep learning more and more about UB.

  • How do I keep the 'step' edits in place - as I click out of the step edit where you can change pitch of samples etc, the edits I've made are no longer in place and the sample reverts back to it's original setting.

  • Yup, when you go between Voice and Step you can't hear the changes you've made in Step mode, i.e. to the pitch.

BUT when you drag and drop your drum beat into the arrange window, all your changes are stored in that MIDI part.

  • great stuff, really informative

  • yes i must admit your videos are a wise use of my time, learned a lot tonight watching all your videos! Please need more tips and tricks if you would be so kind !! THANK YOU !

  • So useful! Learnt more in 20mins from this than hours of reading the manual! Thanks!

  • absolutely fantastic. thank you

  • thanks! This was really helpful.

  • thank you

  • easily the best tutorials abotu logic i've come across.. and i 've seen many, googling/ the manual/ and message boards all let me down trying to figure out how to assing indivdual drum hits to different channel strips..............you should do a manual on getting reason sounds into logic( not by rewire), just a suggestion. cheers

  • Dude you saved me so much time.

Thank you so much for your videos.

    Make more!

    Favored!

  • thanks, i learned like 3 new things in your first video.

  • Firstly, make sure you've created a multi-output Ultrabeat rather than single output.

Then, click on the + on the channel strip and this will add all the UB channels you need.

    Hope that helps!

  • Hey man, I love your videos, but I have a quick question. I set up a multi-output ultrabeat and sent one of the drum samples to channels 3-4 just like you show in this video, but when I add a new channel in the mixer, nothing happens when I click on its input and thus I am unable to properly set up the new channel so I can alter the individual sound. I've tried right clicking, command clicking, I have no idea what you did differently in your video than what I"m doing now. Thanks!

    Casey

  • Hold down left click on the 'Input' section of the channel strip until the menu pops up...

    :)

  • Awesome tips, really made ultrabeat a powerful tool for me.

  • Cheers bro - awesome tips - straight to the point, no F***ing about. I like that!

  • very very good!

  • Thank You

  • great video dude

anything else youd like to tell us about logic would be great :)

  • cheers for the videos, really handy.

  • These videos are some of the best available. You rock Dan. More videos please!

  • Just wanted to say man that your UB lessons have transformed my music making. Enough said really. THANK YOU!

  • priceless!

  • Nice work man, thanks! This'll sound dumb, but when you are dropping UB patterns into the arrange window, is it into MIDI, Instrument, or Audio tracks?

  • hi

sorry for not getting back to you sooner. you drop the UB pattern into an MIDI track - one that's got the Ultrabeat already setup on it.

  • Good stuff. thanks

  • LOGIC PRO is the BOMB! Love it!~

I also like using Ableton 7 in conjunction!

  • Wow, cool clap effect!!! Thanks.

  • Hey Dan

Nice video. I like your teaching style! By the way, a quicker way to create an auxiliary track connected to a multi UB is to go to the mixer,

click on the UB Channel strip. Under the solo button you'll see a (+) sign. Click it and you'll automatically create aux's for a multi UB!

Really nice videos though! I was about to make some UB videos for youtube. Looks like you beat me to it ;-) Looking forward to parts three to five.

    Cheers

    Ron

  • Thanks for that Ron. Just goes to show you can learn new things all the time with Logic! Good tip :)

    Cheers - Dan
