  • A gazillion thank yous for sharing!!

  • jerry have one of the best voices in the world and he was only 18 when he record this amazing

  • This song is just as beautiful as when it first came out. Long live the Iceman. Digger

  • I am 33 and I am so shocked at the foul display music has turned into. With the exception of Adele this is the music I grew up to and still listen to it. My husband and I love this music. The "Ice Man" is unmatched.

  • Best and only version of this song in my opinion. Mr Jerry Butler...timeless

  • I do the same thing. I listen to these songs and go back to my teenage years. With so much that was going on back then, I still enjoyed those days.

  • JUST MISSED!!! "For Your Precious" just missed making the Billboard's Top 10 chart; it peaked at No. 11 and spent a total of 12 weeks in the Top 100 in 1958. This record was Mr. Butler's debut on the charts!!!

  • As much as I love Otis Redding, this has to be my favorite version and one of my favorite songs. Gives me the shivers every time I hear it.

  • beautiful

    01/18/12

    Again

  • Such a beautiful love song for a young lady to hear. I feel sorry that the young girls of today are subjected to 'bs and 'hos, etc. They can't possibly feel romantic about it.

  • I am 71 years old, all of my music came for the late 50's 60's and 70's, When I hear these songs I start to live in the past, I just love all of them, Salbaby

  • i GREW UP WITH THIS MUSIC AND AFTER LISTENING TO SOME OF THE NEW STUFF IT'S HARD TO REALIZE HOW LOW MUSIC HAS GOTTEN. tHANK YOU FOR POSTING SOME MUSIC FROM MY YOUTH,

  • @savino60007

    opps..."lives"

  • @savino60007 oops... "oops"

  • Don't understand why some people have to critcize. If you don't have something good to say then don't say it.

  • ICEMAN!!! 'Nuff Said!!

  • While listening i've noticed this BUTLER isnt to bad. Still,

    I scream

"Fuck this Butler, Give me OTIS."

    With a long dick.

  • Fuck this Butler, Give me OTIS.

  • One of my dreams is to cruise down the blvd or street in a drop top old school car and bump this with my lady...ooooh weee! Baby maker song for real. Gotta find me a lady and a drop top. gotta few in mind. Haha Lol. Yeah...

  • JERRY DOES IT FOR ME EVERYTIME.I LOVE THIS SONG.

  • THEY ALWAYS PLAYED THIS SONG AT THE END OF THE SOCK-HOPS IN THE GYM.....AND EVERYONE FELL IN LOVE......WHAT MEMORIES!

  • WHEN THIS SONG PLAYS, STOP WHAT YOU ARE DOING , AND JUST START TO SLOW DANCING!

  • 40 years of her precious love my dear Lucy.

  • Memories, memories, memories. I think this song increased the population more than Luther.

  • One of the very few songs that have a great impact on my life!!!!

  • This was my wedding song !!!

  • FANTASTIC SLOW DANCE!

  • i remember when i was 16 or so, i would call this girl i was tryin to talk too....late at night around 2 in da morning....i would play this song along wit a few others....play it just loud enough where i knew she could hear it in da back ground.....just tell her how pretty she was and how sweet she could be......miss those days........

  • The Ice Man has a silver tone voice.

  • a bronx tale :)

  • What would you call this genre (i just love the slow tempoed beat)

  • @sxcboi036 R&B

  • Ill dance this song at my wedding! :D

  • truly a heart felt song .......they dont write em like this anymore!

  • My mother was a big fan of Jerry Butler, she played the "ICE MAN" music all the time. I was such a little girl but I understood it was something magical about the lyrics in this short, get to the point song, My mother is now 75 years old and she switched gears to gospel music but from time to time she mentions how much she miss the love songs from back in the day.

  • @2godbetheglory Hello. Thank you for sharing that with us all. I was a little girl when I learned all about the oldies from the 50s into 60s. My grandparents and parents played them often, and they would dance to them. One evening all four of them showed me the "stroll" which was special to see a dance from back then like the twist. My favorite was watching them do the mashed potatoes. I love the oldies. Such beautiful music. Take care - Jo.

  • @2godbetheglory

I am just over 70 and remember all of these songs, But I can't get used to the so called music from the 80's up till now.

  • @SalBaby1000

The Music I really loved was from the 50's to the 80's. I'm just over 70 now and pray that that with God's help I will make it to the 90's and still remember all my old time music, I truley believe that God sent both black male and female singers to earth. (Please I am not knocking other singers they are great also)

  • anyone else c 2:21

  • This has got to be one of the most beautiful songs to come out of that era.

Remember slow dancing at parties to this melody...what an innocent time

  • Love this song

  • Fantastic song!

  • THANK YOU for this song. Music from heaven for all the wonderful people who lived in that time and those that appreciate the wonder of that time

  • Yeah I do to. That's hard to do these days . I've had 3 an they totaled 42. I wish I could have found one to last. I'm not gonna try again even though I daydream about what would have been if ONE had.

  • iluvit

  • Nothing beats the original... a recipe for goose bumps..with the right person..one of the BEST doo wop songs of all time.

  • The ICEMAN!!!! SO COOL!!!! Beautiful song!

  • NOBODY sings this like Jerry Butler. Goosebumps from start to finish! Thanks for the post.

  • Man, I am a huge fan of Joy Division and I love this song. Now I think that in the very end most of the songwriters in history write about love (lack of it, wish of it, etc.); this is the first song I've ever heard in whose songwriter has ever written love by itself.

  • alright this takes me back to the age of eight years old

  • Thank you for capturing this song. It is my favorite and I'm 62 years old. Oscar Toney did a very good impression of this song back in the early 70's, but I could not find a copy of it. Jerry Butler did it the best, though. They did sing their hearts out. Old busses, racism, so much that all of them had to endure. Thank you for bringing back the magic.

  • @grannylynda1 My parents used to cross the border into the US and go to all black nightclubs bcs they loved R&B, Jazz. They said they stuck out like a sore thumb but no-one ever bothered them. They told me how people wd dress up to the nines to watch these artists and how kind & mannerly ppl were back then. They made many friends, which I met much later on & they have still maintained these friendships after all these years.Thks for playing this beautiful music mom and dad. Now I get to play it

  • I looooooove this song. Brings back the romance of my young days. Nothing like this anymore. God bless the old timers who sang their hearts out.

  • Thank's for your reply. I have always loved this song!! I think it is and always will be the greatest love song ever recorded. Only the great Jerry Butler could sing this song and make the magic happen. I thank you for sharring this wonderfull song from an area when music was truly music from the heart of the artist to the soul of the listener.

  • Guess there's always got to be one cretin who dislikes everything !!!

  • Quite simply the best doo wop love ballad of all time. 50's forever...

  • to the person who disliked this song should have thier head examined!! this song and others of the era.were some of the best ever recorded. i remember the sock hops at school where we looked forward to a slow song so we could snuggle with your date and maybe sneak a kiss without the chaperone catching you.what ever happened to the music of yesteryear? well at least we have our memories of thuse great times.... thanks for the chance to relive them!!!

  • @DeCavalcante My love for the oldies came from my grandparents and parents. I've always been thankful I was given a deep appreciation for the music of the 50s and 60s from all of them - Jo.

  • It don't come no better than Jerry Butler!

He was all that and still is!!

Watch him on PBS channel, once a year that channel has a doo-wop show on,

keep checking when it will be on, not sure, but it's getting close for this year!

  • WHERE WAS I , WHEN THIS SONG WAS BRAND NEW!!!!

    LET'S SEE, LORD!

I KNOW ,I WAS DANCING IN A TEEN-CLUB,BACK IN THE DAY!!

  • OH, the places his music takes me!!!!!!!!!!

  • Oh my God...simple and sincere...

  • Did Marc get home to Rebecca?

  • This is NOT a version of Otis Redding's rendition. THIS IS THE ORIGINAL. Some of you younger people need to educate yourself on 50's & 60's music !!

  • we can't go back but the foolish thing we said and did am sorry Geraldine I can't take us back but you with Lord the now and time isn't there R I P . am sorry I never said am sorry I will always and have always loved you. My first love

  • Driving an 18-wheeler in the middle of the night between San Angelo and Eastland, TX and listending to KLDD (Dallas) this was so reminding me of my love waiting for my return.

  • This is untouchable. What a difference a few years make. It's nice to compare

the doo wop version to Ottis Reddings version of this song. They both did a wonderful job. The words almost make me want to "fall" in love again.

  • This has always been a favorite song of mine. I wanted to share it and show the specialness of romantic love. Thanks to all of you for your kind words and for enjoying this song and video. When I read your words to the one you love, it means alot to me that love and romance are alive and well. Love and Peace - Jo

  • My heart is yours as yours is mine, Mein. Diyn

  • Mein, You know how I love you. You are my Heart. Diyn

  • Perhaps the greatest love song ever. Its simplicity and pure emotion take me to a better time and place, a place we have lost with today's bitches and hos mentality. Tragic.

  • Always pro old music. Nothing compares to old music im 21 but i admit it that todays music is commercial whereas old music is all about passion and love.

  • chivalry and romance will never be dead as long as we have Jerry Butlers beautiful music

  • Our country has done nothing but gone downhill since the 1950's. The family was

strong, tv and the music still had innocent and moral themes. This song represents

the fifties, a love song for all generations.

  • This is a great vid my friend you put it together so well!

  • @morrocyclon You're welcome, and I'm happy you enjoy it. Sorry I'm just reading this. I check this when I can and try to reply when I can. Jo

  • Preciosa cancion,se la dedico a mi novia que esta a 1000km de distancia...pronto estaremos juntos otra vez..I promise..

MY HUSBAND IS NO LONGER HERE ON EARTH WITH ME (3-18-2010), HE HAS GONE TO A MAGICAL PLACE THAT ONE DAY I WILL JOIN HIM. BUT IN MY HUSBANDS HEART " I WAS HIS PRECIOUS LOVE " NO ONE COULD HAVE SUNG IT BETTER THAN " THE ICEMAN "

what can I say, but the "ICE MAN" is the MAN!

  • @carolinasbeauty If I were you I would go to the DOCTOR.. You might have a severe COLD to be getting all those chills.. TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF..

  • @flyby7a LOL - Don't need a DR, just a good dance partner !!

  • @carolinasbeauty Where are you from?? I am an AWESOME DANCER.. Modesty aside - of course :O)

  • @flyby7a You have to be an awesome dancer! You have to stay warm up in there in Anchorage, LOL! 4 yrs. ago I would have said I'm as far away from you as I could be and still be in the USA - I was living in Tampa, FL. I've come back to the beauty of NC. I live in the Winston-Salem/Greensboro in a small town that's serene, has all four seasons and was the birthplace of "beach music" and shagging (a dance.) Love those oldies - nothing compares in today's music! STAY WARM!!

  • To think he wrote this when he was in high school
