  • Yeah this is the same for almost all PitBike engines.

  • will this work with thumpster lifan engine?

  • only vid that helpd me thanks man great vid

  • thanks bro informative

  • Do you have a video where you DISAMBLE cylinder and cylinderhead?

    Would be very helpful!

  • what about on a 125cc pitbike motor ?

  • what happens if you dont leave a mark when you take the timing chain off the sprocket will the timing be off

  • @jakeb123211 The sprocket has the mark on it. be sure you have it turned outside so you can see it. The chain has no mark to use. It can be used any where as long as the crank and cam sprocket are lined up. You can always check by looking at the valves for compression and exhaust is Top Dead Center or TDC.

  • @WizzRacing thanks

  • the t mark s in which face of the motor?

  • heyy my timing was off by like one tooth so i tryed changing it but i dont know what i done but now my pitty sounds like a lawnmower and wont go when i put it in gear. i turned the cam abit when the sprocket was off does this matter ?

  • Timing is definitally easier than I thought. Is it pretty much the same for an XR200? What if no one marked it before changing it?

  • does this work on any 4 stroke pit bike or dirt bike motor? i have a dr90 baja will this work?

  • Nice vid man!! This really helped me out! waiting for more vids of you!!

  • very good video, had recently taken my head off and cleaned carb!! was not starting after that, followed your timing video and started first kick, many thanks. i have a 110cc 2004 xsport bike

  • How do you do this with a 4 stroke engine, like on a Honda Rebel. I have the valve cover off, and it looks like i'm going to have to break the cam chain to be able to lift the head off to see the condition of the valves. And then find a link to replace it. Is that correct? And when I'm done, get all this lined back up again, which doesn't look to hard from watching the animations of how a 4 stroke engine works and turning over my engine, I got that part. Still, Bloody fucking hell....

  • @cobrachoppergirl To do this on a 4 stroke engine you do it exactly as shown. This would not ever apply to a 2 stroke. You don't break the chain. There is a cam chain tensioner somewhere. You loosen that as far as possible and then the chain will have enough slack to be lifted over the sprocket.

  • @cobrachoppergirl it is normally not as easy as just lifting the chain off the sprocket once the tentioner is actually out you can just pull the sprocket off of the cam depending on your bike and therefore the chain comes off, just dont drop anything in the motor or your srewed.

  • @cobrachoppergirl My friend has a Honda Rebel and I have a Honda CB 200 and we are both restoring them. I love them both!

  • @cobrachoppergirl 2 stroke engines do NOT use a camshaft you stupid piece of shit motherfucker son of a bitch

  • @cobrachoppergirl take off your chain tensioner dont break the fucking chain, look shit up before you break shit bro come on now

  • alex help me please iv got a 125 xsport engine im rebuilding at the min. but befor i stripped it. the clutch was only bitein right on the end. like when u pull the clutch the bit on the end of the clutch cable was hitting the bit on the engine why is it doing this? i cant work it out is thay any thing i can do? cheers brett.

  • Hi Alex, got a question. How do you remove the metal cirkel on the cilinderhead before you can even do this? And how do you put it back on again?

  • hi i have a 2009 pitbike but it is rely slow enny idia how to make it alot more faster by parts if so what parts thanks

  • thx

  • it looks more difficult than it is till you watch a video about it or have it explained to ya

  • 4 stroke teory by graham bell......for learning.

  • what if my cam sprocket only has 2 bolts their is also no t on stator just a metal tab what looks to be a wheel weight welded on it an 04 crf motor

  • Comment removed

  • The funny thing is my timing is also of by 180 degrees and I don't have a CDI motor.

I have a point ignition and it also makes no difference whatsoever its just 5KMH slower that's al

  • So as long as both marks line up at the same time, i should be fine right?

  • thank you so much its hard to find anything on engine timing for atc 70;s

  • hey man i have a 110cc pit bike....so if your cam timing is off even if by one tooth could it cause backfiring through the carb an loss of revs?.... im having this prob it will idel great but i cant rev the motor without killing it and shooting fire bac through the carb

  • Fantastic !

  • hey mate just wanna say thanx for making this vid, i got a 150 cc and the rings blew, thanx to ur vid i was able to change rings and set timing without having to pay the mechanics here 90 bucks an hour... my bike is running like new lol thanx again

  • good video, i just but a new cylinder head on my 110cc dirt bike and the carb has a lot of suction and if the air filters on it will shut off and if it runs for like an hour oil will drip out some were could you tell me why its doing that it didn't do it with the old cylinder head. if you could try and help me out with this that would be great. Thank you

  • ill be doing a top end rebuild very soon (its already apart) are there any bolts that arnt 10 ft lbs?

  • Thanks again for good video!!

  • can you give us vid. on how to remove the top end of the engine and replace the piston

  • cakap melayu la mat salleh babi...kaper laknat....pukimak..s0hai

  • will it stil spark even tho timing is out

  • my crf50 is always hella hard to get the srocket lined up with the little hold over the dowl pin. i used a small screw driver to use leverege to pull it over but i thing i messed up the dowl pin and the hole.

  • i have a xr70r and i got a lifan 125 how do i wire it

  • Hi,

to set cam timing is that i have on time the cam tree????

  • How similar are the 90cc's to the 50/70's?

  • @RustyCarnahan almost 99%

  • what could be wrong with my engine it will only tick over with the choke on and if i rev it seems to splutter and if i turn the choke on then it dies what could be wrong

  • @78dutchy78sounds like a dirty carb..Remove and clean with gumout.

  • hiya mate having trouble with my pitbike it will only tick over with the choke on but if i rev it high it seems to splutter and not run smoothly and as soon as i put the choke off it dies what could be wrong ?

  • @78dutchy78 carb clean out ur carb and jets.

  • great video, Im doing everything like you say on my sons z50ak2 but after I put back together I have zero compression at spark plug, actualy have suction and strong suction at carb opening. My son is driving me crazy to get this going and you seem to be the man, what do you think? valves? any advice would be great, Thank you

  • Check valve clearances. If that doesn't help, it could be the rings.

  • @TheAlexManVideos Great Videos.. How much slack should I have in cam chain on my atc70? If I rock flywheel (withoug moving cam) I have tons of slop. I posted a video today of it. Thanks for any help.

  • @iowaduckhunt I had this problem on a klx650 - it had chipped an exhaust valve. Pull the head off and check your valves. good luck.

  • @iowaduckhunt

Sounds like valves/valve seats to me, not lapped in enough or maybe the edge of a valve has snapped, what were the clearances like?

  • im haveing troublw with my 125cc pitbike engine , it has no markings too tell me what brand ect (im guessing lifan by the caseing, it has no

the PROBLEM no marking on the engine case for the T mark ect but there is one for the camshaft ??< i havent pulled the camshaft ect apart on apart due too purchasen the bike with BROKEN KICKSHAFT, please help!!!!!!!!!

  • So to confirm, as long as my stator and the cam sprocket are both lined up right, the piston and valves will be in sync, or timed?

and my cam will naturally be within reach of where it should be because the valve springs will keep it only half way moveable?

    (with spark always sparking)

I think if im reading right, that it will spark at the top of every stroke too?

I am about to do an 88 Big Bore kit, and Im pretty sure im right, but want to be completely sure before I start.

  • Yep. That's all correct.

  • yo alex man great videos but im havin timing problems with my honda 185s atc would it be the same ?

  • what do you mean by "circle"?

  • dude my scooter will turn and get fire but will not hit a lick even though i sealed the gaskets and still nothing how do i get the timing set right i got a 150cc engine.

  • I have a yamaha yz 250wr 1989 2 stroke, it runs very strong but has some oil coming out of the exhaust could that be the rings or what do you think?I feel that if anyone knew than you would.

  • i have a z50r and i just took the top bit off as well as the head surrounding the piston. i then span the magneto around a few times.

i am now trying to get it back to normal. how do i know on which stroke is the magneto going to make the spark plug fire as it only does it every second tdc?

i can get the timing marks marked up properly but im not sure about the spark?

  • Ignition fires every rotation of the crank. These motors have a wasted spark ignition. If the timing marks line up, it will run.

  • my head is spinnin !

  • can a ct 70 motor fit on a 72 z50, or do they make kits. i need a lest a 70 motor and up. can you sujest any kits or motors for me , thank you

  • CT motors bolt in, you may or may not have wiring issues. Honda Trail Bikes makes kits for all years of both bikes.

  • How come the older z50a and ct70 engines don't have that cam sprocket plate you made?

  • All the engines I have seen have the plate. The plate is necessary to increase oil pressure and shoot oil out to the cam lobes.

  • Comment removed

  • Looking at the schematics on Bikebandit it shows the z50 didnt start using the cam plate until 1979 and the ct70 until 1980. I have a '72 and '74 z50 and '71 ct70 that do not have them but my '81 ct70 does.

  • I have a PitPro XR 140 and I think my timing is off because I am getting kick back when kick starting it.

Am I able to check and adjust the timing with the engine and everything still in the bike.

Or will I have to remove it?

  • Timing adjustments can be made with the motor in the bike. Check the cam timing, if that is fine, try retarding the ignition timing a bit. If that doesn't work, your motor just has a lot of compression and that's a good thing.

  • do you/how do you adjest the valves on a tb 88 rh?

  • Same as any horizontal Honda. See my video.

  • wat would happen if thecam timing is a half tooth higher than the notch

  • It would run like poop.

  • what do u mean by 1 tooth???

  • I mean the cam timing is off by the distance of one tooth on the cam sprocket.

  • its weird because i have a joyhon 50cc auotmatic whoch is a replica of a honda, i line the flywheel with the f and the cam sproket half a tooth under the notch in the head and it works fine?? Thats th only place it works

  • It is not uncommon for the mark to be a half tooth off. If this is the case, it is better that the circle be below the notch in the head by half a tooth rather than above by half a tooth. This will only happen if you have a severely stretched chain, or are using thinner gaskets for more compression.

  • Do you need to line it up with t? Mine has t, f and two other lines on it. Do i need to line it up with t?

  • Use the T mark. T is TDC. F is when the spark plug should be firing.

  • Alex you are the BEST!!!!!!!!!! thanks

  • thnx, you videos are very helpfull. I am running a tuned Honda C50 wich it has the same engine as your Z50. Thats why i am glad to see some videos about that engine ^^ once again thnx!

  • what about F ?

  • When the F mark lines up with the notch in the case, the spark plug would fire, ideally. At this point the points should just be opening.

  • Thanks man! I wasnt sure i timed it correctly, but now i do!

  • wud this work on a 400ex ??

  • Dude, I have no idea. This video is for Honda minibikes. How would I know how to set cam timing on a motor I've never seen before?

  • ok that really helped but how do you know what position to put ur cam shaft in before you bolt the sprocket on, like if you just put the cam shaft in how do you know what holes in the sprocket line up with the cam shaft
