  • Who cares who wanted to close Gitmo first. The stupid inmates just need to be shot. They get three hots and a cot where they are right now. I hope if they are brought to the US prison system they are killed or at least raped to death.

  • rofl. no way he wanted to do it.

  • Close Gitmo? He only had 6 years to do it.

  • From this report, it seems Bush really really wanted to close Gitmo, but no one incarcerated there had enough money to pay him for their release - he kept shouting "Show me the money! Show me the money!" Now, I finally understand.

  • Bush wanted to close Gitmo too, he couldn't because he lost his favorite cowboy pen.

  • bush wanted to do alot of things, its just his damn brain bone got in the way.

  • he wanted to close guantanamo but he didnt realise he was president in time.

  • But Cheney wouldn't let him.

  • The rewriting of history has begun. Four years form now nobody will know for sure how things went down.

  • Fran needs to go...she is a do whatever they say...yes sir appointee.she was pushed ahead of the really qualified people...she doesn't stand for anything!

    Typical Bush appointee!

  • then why didn't he?

he's done everything else he wanted to despite the law and the constitution.

  • Seriously, I'm not fucking with any of you right now. My JAW has litterally hit my laptop. I currently have a dent by my mouse pad.

When? WHEN? When did Bush EVER want to close Gitmo??? What the hell did she eat that morning, that would produce such a case of food poisoning, where she would halucinate a world in which Bush wanted to close Gitmo?

  • "...where they suddenly get the rights of other US citizens." - Frances Fragos Townsend.

I couldn't agree with you more. They should get them ... and it should be suddenly.

  • They're going to those really high security prisons. They're not getting the rights we have silly blonde person.

  • If we don't give them civil rights then what kind of rights will we give them? Those of a dog? (see Abu Ghraib photo with the U.S. soldier holding a prisoner by a dog leash.)

  • Some of the released terrorist from Gitmo have gone back fighting for al-Qaida and are killing more people.

  • Maybe we should have been tried, convicted, and imprisoned them? When you illicit a confession via torture, the courts will toss it out and it can't be used as evidence.

  • Let's try and remember that all of the RABID REPUBLIANS on Youtube will buy this lie as well...that's what the Bush administration is counting on...They will lie and spin everything until they convince enough people that it's God's truth. The Bush administration has no shame, no remorse, and certainly no conscience...this is about power, money, legacy, and trying to keep their butts out of jail. NWO puppets and the media that support them...thank god there are people that know the truth. Thanks!

  • Bush wanted to close Gitmo??? Are you kidding me?

He ORDERED the prisoners being held in Gitmo without a legal process for years.

Bush even openly admitted to using torture to question prisoners in Gitmo ("waterboarding") and ignored numerous complaints by Amnesty International.

Does that sound like "wanted to close Gitmo"???

NOW they demand a timetable and a plan? How about asking your holy Bush those questions, bitch?

  • ...but Cheney wouldn't let him?

  • wow... no shame

  • find out truth about 911 london n bali bombings being inside job n the fake war on terror

  • More bullshit from lying Bushies. bye-bye.

  • What bullshit. If Bush wanted it closed he could have closed it. Yes these men should be afforded the rights of an American citizen because the American citizen's rights where designed with what is best for all men. ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL. Not all American citizens.

  • if bush wanted to close guantanamo, he could have signed an executive order just like obama did. what horseshit this woman spews from her mouth.

  • If Bush wanted to close Gitmo, why not do so with an executive order just like Obama did within days of taking office? Answer: He didn't want to close Gitmo. Where is this woman getting her bullshit from?

  • We want to nation build, spread the grand and noble ideas of freedom, civil liberties and democracy worldwide. But we torture, deny due process, spy on our own citizens, refuse to release documents on important issues .... maybe we should start here first.

  • SecDef Bob Gates said he wanted to close Gitmo after he replaced Rumsfeld in '07. I doubt he would've made that comment if he wasn't in agreement w/Bush.

That being said, go fuck yourselves, libtards! LOL!

  • What a crock!

  • Suddenly conservatives want to know all about transparency and timetables.

  • Townsend sounds retarded

  • I'm sure Bush might not have learned this... but when you grow up you have to actually DO things do get credit for them, not just "want" to.

  • I also wanted to close it, and I got zero credit for that... and I usually get what I want, so Obama's foolish if he thinks that it's easy to close it just by saying he wants to... because I've been saying I wanted it closed for months and no one listens to me.... and I'd say I'm a pretty important guy.

  • He's the President, if you didn't know, and his executive orders carry the force of law unless they are canceled by congressional legislation or deemed to be unconstitutional by the Surpreme Court.

  • How many people in Gitmo actually did something wrong, and how many are there because the gov't screwed up?

The ones that were involved in 9/11 should get the death penalty.

The rest can go back to driving cabs in Afghanistan.

  • George Bush is a confessed war criminal. George Bush has publicly admitted to ordering the torture of a prisoner of war. Torture is a war crime. George Bush must be tried and executed. nothing less will restore America's honor and integrity.

  • True. No man is above the law. It applies equally to all of us. Everyone is entitled to a trial - even George Bush.

  • This is a sign that Obambi will be a 1 term epic fail and that Palin will PWN him in 2012 and becomes America's GREATEST POTUS of ALL TIMES! Palin is GOD's CHOSEN ONE, GOD INCARNATE and the LIVING EMBODIMENT OF GOD HERSELF!

  • God doesn't exist but if he did he would be a man - sorry exwaufisxtreme.

  • NO! You are so wrong! GOD is A WHITE WOMAN!

  • Think about it ecwaufisxtreme....

God is omnipotent right? Now if god would be a woman god wouldn't be able to take a pee standing up, defeating her omnipotence... Therefore logic dictates god is in fact a man.

    Trust me, it's science!

  • how do you know? have you seen god?

  • Thank God these Bushies are gone. They are still lying.

  • All you have to ask yourself is why there were no trials for 7 years.

  • she is right in that the obama administration has provided no details on how theyre going to close gitmo, BUT obama is actually taken steps to close gitmo if bush wanted to close gitmo why didn't he, or at least express that he wanted to?

  • That's probably true, but the question of what to do with those incarcerated there still remains open.

  • LOL ahahaha

  • Whaaahuuuh??? Bush "wanted" to close GITMO too?!?!

So who (or what) was stopping him? The real dirtbag president of his administration "Dick Head Cheney"?!?!?

Yup that would be right, Since its Cheney who LOVES torture and wanted it and set up GITMO in the first place.

Cheney is Nazi puke i hope he never gets out of that wheelchair.

  • dumb bitch

  • Cou-Bullshit-gh

  • Obviously now that Obama closed Guantanamo some people will rant that it's wrong. But I'm sure that if Bush would have asked the public about opening a prison there to torture and deprive people of their right to a fair trial everybody would say it's immoral.

  • TOO BAD HE WASN'T IN A POSITION OF POWER TO DO SUCH A THING

    oh wait

  • "Bush wanted to close Guantanamo, too" THEN WHY THE FUCK DIDN'T HE? He had 8 years to do so, and spent all 8 of those years laughing his way to the bank on tax payer's money! Whereas signing the bill to have Guantanamo closed in a year is one of the first things Obama did while in office. This news report is BS.

  • Bush wanted to close GTMO??

    Yeah right!!

Is that because it was too small to detain all those American civillians that disagreed with Bush when they were unknowingly being wiretapped?

  • sure he did, and you know what now that i think about it he wanted to help folks down in New Orleans too..........

  • Haha, the rewriting of Bush's presidency has already begun. I wonder how much they paid her or what they promised her..

  • Lawl, no he didn't.

  • "rights" are so silly

  • Lying bitch. Bye-bye.

  • Bush wanted to be a good president too! Just one problem... He wasn't. Seriously are old Bush hacks gonna be sayin' this old stupid phrase from now on when it really doesn't even come close to fitting? What's next? "Bush wanted Universal Health Care too!"

  • liar...

  • What's wrong with people getting the same kind of rights as U.S citizens? All these facists assholes are trying to do is de-humanize us to the point where we'll agree to go along with their torture techinques, at which point those vary same techniques will be used against american citizens they deem as "domestic terrorists" a.k.a regular people who won't go along with their NWO.

  • Stop speaking from a la-la-land reality. No one wants terrorists receiving the rights of U.S. citizens, when they were hardly adhering to even the most basic rules of war. Granted that doesn't mean they should be tortured, but they should certainly not receive the U.S. rights.

  • the majority aren't terrorists... and many are innocent of any crimes...

  • Sources? Please don't throw around "many," "most" or "majority" lightly... they have very clear meanings.

  • If he wanted to do it then he should have did it! He was president for crying out loud.

  • I think the point she was trying to convey, which you completely didn't catch, was Obama isn't taking the time to consider what they're going to do with the detainees. He's been pressed by news media about this issue too, it's nothing new. How many people don't want prisons in their neighborhood? Now of those who have to deal with prisons near them, how many do think want international terrorists near by? ...clearly a heightened target. OB

  • Do you realize that most people in Gitmo are suspected terrorists and may have committed very minor crimes for the position they are in? They have absolutely no rights because they aren't in the U.S and several of them could be completely innocent of accusations made against. Do you also realize that Gitmo has guards who have violated the detainees literally? I mean there are pictures of this shit everywhere. Most are only suspects and deserve a fair trial, and terrorists can be sent to prison

  • I never said it shouldn't be closed. I never said their case shouldn't be heard in a military court. Neither of those require they receive the rights of citizens. You make too many assumptions, and I wouldn't expect an average YouTube user to make any sort of intellectual arguments. What I said was it is highly unsafe to shut down an isolated criminal facility and transport those detainees to U.S. territory. Even 1 high target among 10 is unacceptable when you put innocent Americans at risk.

  • Some of these detainees would be killed if they were to go back home. Innocent or even if guilty if minor crimes, if in danger, they deserve citizenship. Youve told us what shouldnt be done with gitmo detainees, would you care to express what should be done? Keep in mind that the majority of the detainees are innocent of terrorist crimes. Even the guilty deserve to be treated humanely... Also, I hope you don't believe any superiority, above the "average YouTube user".

  • Well first of all, if they are in danger they should be granted asylum, not citizenship. Second, can you show me official details that a majority are innocent? Keep in mind conspiracy to commit murder or terrorist activities is a crime. Prison isn't synonymous with inhumane, and so I believe an offshore military prison can be run in a humane fashion. Are humans perfect? Not really, so scandal and disgusting behavior will happen in any environment not just at Gitmo.

  • the majority are innocent you asshole. thats why when the prison originally opened they had like seven or eight hundred prisoners detained over half of whom were released WITHOUT CHARGES. there is substantial evidence that innocent or not if you go into gitmo you get tortured which is BAD. as for the high terror suspects, if they come here how the fuck will they harm us in chains and in jail? they will be a given a trial and they will get a death setence for life in jail, the ones who are guilty

  • Everyone is presumed innocent until they are convicted. If there were no/very few trials, then technically all are innocent until proven guilty. Human rights violations will take place anywere where there is no accountability or consequences. Humans aren't perfect but the law exists to maintain civility.

  • And yes, I do believe I'm superior to the "average YouTube user." Is that a problem for you?

  • There are more dangerous people then these terrorists because the terrorists have a "Cause". we have prisoners in the U.S who are serial killers, rapists and murders who do horrible crimes just because. these guys have a purpose so they aren't "crazy". that makes a huge fucking difference and makes them less dangerous then a lot prisoners inside the U.S

  • No, it's the other way around: the cause makes them MORE dangerous. A serial killer will kill many people, perhaps 20 to 40 people in his lifetime. The difference is they value their own lives or some aspect of their life (perhaps the victory of eluding justice). Terrorists don't value life in any form, whether their own or others'. They value victory. A successful serial killer will kill as many as he can while avoiding incarceration. A successful terrorist will kill as many as possible.

  • You have zero background in psychology. That is obvious. Many serial killers will contact the police by phone or letters - giving clues in the hopes of being caught. Every heard of "calling cards" being left at the scene of a crime? This makes it easier to connect a series of crimes - almost like a signature on act. You should consider going to colllege rather than pretending to have specialized knowledge.

  • How do you think a terrorist will escape jail if he comes to this country? Why do we have to be scared if they are no longer in gitmo? Give me your reasons for that. And Serial-Killers do not all value their life. They just want to continue killing people as long as they can. Terrorists usually commit suicide and lets face it thats better than a serial killer killing people and escaping.

  • Sorry I meant to append more to that last comment. What I would do is create an isolated facility for such detainees. It doesn't have to be outside of the jurisdiction of the U.S., but it should be safely isolated from the general population (similar to Alcatraz). From that point on they should be tried in a military court and no, they should *not* receive U.S. rights. I'm not proficient in international law but I'm sure there is a better way than their current approach aka political stunt.

  • Actually, the supreme court has held they are entitled to due process and equal protection like any American citizen.

  • There are three different state and federal prisons in "my backyard" and I wouldn't feel "less safe" if a few terrorists were locked up with the murderers and rapists who are already doing time in these jails that are in my "neighborhood."

  • That is a great point. We sometimes have to fear our own neighbors.

  • Trust me... a rapist and murderer has nothing on what a terrorist can do. Equating the three like you did shows a serious lack of comprehension. But that's the norm from sheltered Americans.

  • Oh give me a break... if anything the inmates of our prisons would rip those people apart if they get the chance. They're not going to do didly squat. Terrorists are criminal scum - they are not super human. And, being a condescending douchebag doesn't make you right.

  • Less linear logic, more intelligence. Don't respond to comments if you're an idiot; no one said anything about physical prowess you douche.

  • You're the one in here talking down to everybody and acting like you're the worlds smartest. You can't pose an argument without insulting people, and therefore it is you who is the IDIOT! You're constant claims to intelligence only highlight the fact that you are moron. And if anyone here is a "typical YouTube user" it's you.

So, get your head out of your butt you POSER.

  • 1. I never said I was the world's smartest.

    2. Your = possessive. You're = contraction (you are) ...learn it, use it.

    3. As a matter of fact, I haven't insulted anyone. Ironically you were the first to throw around insults, calling me a douchebag, I was simply reciprocating.

You're right though, "I am moron."

  • You were already insulting other people before I made my first reply, buddy boy. And knit picking about grammar isn't going to change that the obvious fact. You arrogant little shit!

  • Leaving negative votes for my comments won't change anything either.

And to be clear, I wasn't "knit picking" your grammar, I was simply making you look like an idiot. See it's very important that when you are calling someone else a moron or attempting to insult their intelligence, make sure you're not making yourself look like a moron in the process. Really, it damages your credibility. :)

  • Bringing these scumbags to military prisons in the continental US of A doesn't endow them with rights of US citizenship...

And, if Bush "wanted to" close Gitmo, what was stopping him??? Was his BIC in for repairs?

This chick is employed by WHO?

  • scumbags? Many innocent people are locked up in Gitmo, and some of them have been found innocent, but if they return home, they face political persecution by their own government. The U.S put them in this position. These people (eg the Uygar family) need political asylum and citizenship in America

  • *throws a shoe at Fran*

  • "Bush Wanted to Close Guantanamo Too" bull shit. even as late as the day he went out of office he was calling for it stay open. Please just dont try to rewrite history that we just went thought. just makes you look stupid.

  • She is scared that people are getting rights?

  • US Rights are not the same as Human Rights... she's concerned w/ terrorists receiving the former.

  • but wouldn't you agree that after all that they've been put through, they at least deserve that?

  • No.

  • .... um. It's very convenient that she's saying that *now*... why didn't anyone mention this before he left the white house?

  • dont worry, Bush's friend at the NY Fed has joined the Obama team in a senior role. He used to work for Henry Kissinger video:

Tim Geithner Treasury Secretary Designee Linked to Foreign Criminal Syndicate

  • not sure why someone would be "concerned" with these detainees having human rights...

  • I'm sure Cheny would not allow Bush to do it anyway. Remember Cheny was our real president for the last 8 years.

  • This issue worries me.

  • which aspect of the issue?

  • The possibility of releasing prisoners from Guantanamo into America with full citizenship. But don't get me wrong; I definitely want Guantanamo closed down. As Obama said, "the US does not torture."

  • Many of the prisoners of Guantanamo are innocent, and if they were to go back home, where their own government would persecute them and hand down a death sentence. I believe the U.S owes them life at least. The Uygar family, for example.... They deserve full citizenship.

Other innocents, who face no danger in their country, need to some sort of payout before they are released back home.

  • Those who have committed crimes should either be tried in US courts, or if circumstances permit, back in their homeland, but this time around they need to be given the rights that they deserve. Their trial and imprisonment, needs to be monitored, so that they dont face the same torture that they have been. Also, regardless of their past actions, if they were tortured, those who tortured them need to be brought before courts and tried.

I think you agree with this, no?

  • SURREEE HE DID... FUCK BUSH
