1991-1994 was a high time for the music charts but its going to be a long time before the charts are like that again because the music industry is based on one thing: Money. That doesn't mean that music has ceased to exist (Except for closed minded people) If it doesn't sell it won't be heard. You might think that good music would sell, but no. People are too content living with music from the past to look towards the future.

A suggestion for you: turn off the TV, turn off the radio, stop listening to what people want you to listen. Music today isn't all about what appears on MTV. There are still great bands and musicians around.
@pepitojoe Be more specific because you're including all the good music made today. I know someone is going to laugh at my comment and say "You couldn't be more wrong, Dumbass... Good music died when Kurt did" But guess what? People were probably saying the same thing after The Beatles broke up when AC/DC were still relatively new. My point is that good music is still made if you don't wait for it to knock on your door.
Don't expect good music to land in your lap. The commercial music industry all revolves around having artists who sell and that's what you get on commercial radio and commercial TV. At the moment, it's driven by a young audience who loves rather shitty pop by rather shitty artists. Bu there's been lots of that through the last 60 years.

That's fine. But don't whine about it if you're going to rely on the commercial mass market to give you stuff. Yes, they ignore genuine talent and instead are geared towards sales - which is fair enough as they're trying to make money. Problem is that the stuff that mostly makes them money is utter shite.
Now off you go pepitojoe and join the rest of the mindless creatures who can't be bothered creating their own world - you just let the mass market make it for you. Sad...
Whats great about this video is you can really hear what a kick ass drummer Dave is, I mean holy shit he just eats that thing up. Talk about having a good bass drum, freakin guy explodes on that thing.
This was in September 1991 in Seattle. Right when the Nevermind album came out. They had a huge buzz on them in the underground but no one knew the explosion that was gonna follow them.
Glad i saw them when i did. I may be 40 but in those days i was 22 and the new music ruled. Anything similar to those days would have to be the British Invasion of the 60s. Everything was new again. Good times.
How can music be over after kurts death when weve still got guys like Dave Grohl, Brian May and Rick Parfitt tearing up the stage with new material? Like 'grungeera' said, the industries are just proscribing us stuff to listen to. music isnt independant for the listener anymore, theyre just spoon-feeding us some crap that they think is music. youve just got to look beyond the big record names for the real shit. thats where music is alive and stronger than ever
we've got plenty of good bands around, just nobady knows them, cause we don't the chance to listen to them, because some stupid producers proscribe us what to listen to.
You are right, there are 100 Nirvanas out there...but they don`t have a "cool" video on Mtv, "cool" interviews on VH1, "cool" clothes, "cool" parties and "cool" friends...
If you leave that "cool" marketing concept, you will learn to really enjoy music...
@whipchops yeah but i wrote that comment about a year and a half ago since then i learned a hell lot of guitar and play for my school and i know there are som kick ass bands today one of them being MUSE (early days) ,RHCP,The dodos and whole others-....
@whipchops muse is ok. radiohead is better. you should listen to the strokes.thats an amazing band. grab the first two albums. every song on both those albums are good
i hate fuckin hip hop and rap shit. I just put baught two 12s to put in my bronco and i just can't wait to blow all that bad shit off the road with some Nirvana, Alice and Chains, STP the list just goes on.
Stock color was originally called Sparkled Navy Blue. But i just say Navy. I'm gonna black it out though one day. Everything on it is in perfect condition everything works.
@stupidpie1 Well some was ok during that time, but 90s was just the best the whole decade, not just the start of it, so many great bands, but yeah now it sucks.
Um.... where do you get your facts from? There was a hell of a lot of shit music between the 50s and the 90s, as well as a lot of good music. It's the same now and always will be. Occasionally a band like Nirvana comes along and shakes everything up, but until then, you'll just have to look a little harder to find good music - but it is out there - just don't expect it to turn up in your lap. In 2010 we're in a stage, similar to the late 80s, when good music was hard to find.
Thanks dude. I hate these dicks who think music was totally awesome and now it sucks. I was 18 when Nirvana hit, and trust me, the music scene then was very very similar to now - basically the real, authentic stuff similar to Nirvana had been going through the 80s (Sonic Youth, Fugazi, Blackflag) but you never heard about it in the mainstream - just shit like Poison & Motley Crue. There are awesome bands today that you don't see in the mainstream - you just have to look harder.
@DeluxeReihossue You're welcome. I'm aware how good bands can go by unnoticed by the mainstream, Not many have heard of Flipron for example. I think Flipron should be more well known, Although some of their newer songs aren't quite as good they're unique enough for today. "Raindrops Keep Falling On The Dead" Is what one might expect to hear in a haunted carnival.
But the cool thing is that a band like Flipron are still out there making stuff and people like you can hear it. Sure you're not going to hear it on TV, but at least in this day and age it's way easier to find stuff you like. Imagine back in Kurt Cobain's day - no internet, just word of mouth and out in the scene. We still have those things, but we now have the ability to find stuff anywhere in the world. It's fucking cool.
Anyone who says music today is crap is just a lazy fucktard
@DeluxeReissue Yes, Its very cool to have the internet to use for finding new music. and yes, Anyone who thinks "All music today is crap" Is either A. Ignorant B. Lazy (Like you said) Or C. Both lazy and ignorant.
@DeluxeReissue By the way, Have you ever heard the song "Funk Pop A Roll"? The song's lyrics are about the music industry. It was written in 1982 and is still relevant with the music industry today.
@RighteouslyWicked You obviously don't listen to Hip-Hop. Not today's Shit-Hop, but you should listen to some Hip-Hop from the early 90's. The early 90's were justa better time.
good call...seems obvious but good for you saying it. I am probably older than you but at least u understand. That other crap is not even real. Think about it like this...if you hear a song and it seems like the band isn't holding anything back, it is great. AiC, Nirvana, Tupac, Pearl Jam, Blk Sbbth, Led Zep. Great music comes from the heart, not the minds of corp rec execs.

sadly I agree Music was over after his death
heyeyefloater 2 years ago
How can music be over after kurts death when weve still got guys like Dave Grohl, Brian May and Rick Parfitt tearing up the stage with new material? Like 'grungeera' said, the industries are just proscribing us stuff to listen to. music isnt independant for the listener anymore, theyre just spoon-feeding us some crap that they think is music. youve just got to look beyond the big record names for the real shit. thats where music is alive and stronger than ever

music never dies
we've got plenty of good bands around, just nobady knows them, cause we don't the chance to listen to them, because some stupid producers proscribe us what to listen to.
grungeera 2 years ago 5
You are right, there are 100 Nirvanas out there...but they don`t have a "cool" video on Mtv, "cool" interviews on VH1, "cool" clothes, "cool" parties and "cool" friends...
If you leave that "cool" marketing concept, you will learn to really enjoy music...
eticomorales 2 years ago
i disagree. as long as eddie vedder is alive. then in my opinion music will be too. Long live pearl jam. there not nirvana. but who can be

Stock color was originally called Sparkled Navy Blue. But i just say Navy. I'm gonna black it out though one day. Everything on it is in perfect condition everything works.

@RighteouslyWicked shitty 90s music is shitty
ironbmike 1 year ago
@ironbmike no way, 90s music is fucking POWER. way better than shit from nowadays or 70s hippie shit.
SaucisseMerguez 1 year ago 3
@SaucisseMerguez 60's was the hippies prime. and it was good music. everything from the late 50's to early 90's was good. now music is shitty
stupidpie1 1 year ago 2
@stupidpie1 Well some was ok during that time, but 90s was just the best the whole decade, not just the start of it, so many great bands, but yeah now it sucks.
SaucisseMerguez 1 year ago
@stupidpie1
Um.... where do you get your facts from? There was a hell of a lot of shit music between the 50s and the 90s, as well as a lot of good music. It's the same now and always will be. Occasionally a band like Nirvana comes along and shakes everything up, but until then, you'll just have to look a little harder to find good music - but it is out there - just don't expect it to turn up in your lap. In 2010 we're in a stage, similar to the late 80s, when good music was hard to find.
DeluxeReissue 1 year ago 2
@DeluxeReissue You speak the truth.
101Volts 1 year ago
@101Volts
DeluxeReissue 1 year ago
@DeluxeReihossue You're welcome. I'm aware how good bands can go by unnoticed by the mainstream, Not many have heard of Flipron for example. I think Flipron should be more well known, Although some of their newer songs aren't quite as good they're unique enough for today. "Raindrops Keep Falling On The Dead" Is what one might expect to hear in a haunted carnival.
101Volts 1 year ago
@101Volts
DeluxeReissue 1 year ago
@DeluxeReissue Yes, Its very cool to have the internet to use for finding new music. and yes, Anyone who thinks "All music today is crap" Is either A. Ignorant B. Lazy (Like you said) Or C. Both lazy and ignorant.
101Volts 1 year ago
@101Volts i totally agree there is still sooo much good much out there
lickapotato 1 year ago
@DeluxeReissue By the way, Have you ever heard the song "Funk Pop A Roll"? The song's lyrics are about the music industry. It was written in 1982 and is still relevant with the music industry today.
101Volts 1 year ago
@RighteouslyWicked You obviously don't listen to Hip-Hop. Not today's Shit-Hop, but you should listen to some Hip-Hop from the early 90's. The early 90's were justa better time.
rgreenberg35 1 year ago
good call...seems obvious but good for you saying it.
