  • The Garland record in parts followed the Anderson version almost note for note, including the scat! But Roger Edens did add special material for Garland and encouraged her to be a jazz singer here and she surely was.

  • Judy sang this song for Decca Records in 1937. Its in their catalog.

  • Ivy Andersson sang it in the Marx brothers film "A day at the races" (The Swing) long before Judy sang it. Ivy was greater in my mind. Not that Judy was bad but "all Gods Chillun" suited Ivy better.

  • for those who are listening there is a pungent political comment in the last few bars.

  • This song would put anyone in a great mood, and Judy's rendition is unforgettable. By the way, did anyone else notice that she went from pronouncing the word "chillun" to pronouncing it "children"?

  • lol...now that you mention it, yeah, i did hear that a few times...it's probably a result of diction classes or something to the like

  • This song is great, and Judy sings it wonderfully.

  • wonderful. brilliant. magnificent!

  • I love Judy

  • Just wonderful! Great singing and what her discovery and subsequent career was based on and all about . . . thank you for posting.

  • sweet perfection
