This song would be great for a bank commercial, in other words it is meaningless drivel disguised as art. Just because someone plays an acoustic guitar and sings like they are trying to not wake the neighbors does not make it art. What does he say here? (You say you have a heavy heart) over a stolen Robert Johnson lick, and then changes to a Lou Reed riff (sure don't know where you're going), and then the boring optimistic turnaround (you're doing better than you know). Sign him Wells Fargo!
@ftheeddie Lol, obvious troll is obvious? It's funny because that's everything he is against, check out some more of his songs, he covers a very wide variety of styles. His songs have very deep meanings, and he is a very talented song writer.
@Upinthedownhole I have listened to his other songs and I disagree. He is an obviously derivative songwriter and his lyrics are 10th grade clever. He tries hard to be edgy, arty, or whatever but he ultimately sounds like a writer of kids tunes. If you feel differently, then fine. I will agree to disagree. I am not claiming to be an authority on the matter and I can see what he trying to convey, I just think he fails.
@ftheeddie - why are you on everyone of his videos ranting? People enjoy his music. He is getting them to enjoy his music without major record labels. I am sorry our tastes aren't as refined as yours. If they were we could all go to the same show and give each other blow jobs. Meanwhile, STFU up and stop trolling.
@ftheeddie it's not meaningless at all-- he creatively and eloquently expresses the idea that we often can't see and appreciate our own progress and we even get down on ourselves when we don't feel like we're getting anywhere.. with 'sun don't know when it's glowing', 'flower don't know when it's growin', etc. and then wraps it up succinctly and tells us assuredly that we're doing better than we know. that's art, and i think your vendetta against jeff lewis is keeping you from seeing that.
@stevensartifacts No, art does not tell you anything, it is felt, experienced, lived, breathed, but if it has to tell you then it is a failure. Regardless, if you get art from this then great, I have no "vendetta against jeff lewis" I just called it as i saw it. It does not mean I do not get it, or understand it, I just think it is derivative and therefore bores me. But I would never claim to speak for everyone, if it moves you then it has moved someone. That is a wonderful thing..
i wonder if this became mainstream,,, would it be better for the world...? or would it just be like a bob marley mesagge of love when the majority mostly become one of those ''be a hippie but they forgot how to love'' kinda thing.
i dont know

@penguinandpandable And you're kinda wrong, it is about the lyrics, that's what people relate to.

Melancholy Dinosaur is a great idea, but this little video left me a little wanting. Maybe because I love the song so much.
Either way, thanks for putting it up. :)
