In case anyone wanted to know.. DJ Quik produced Truth Hurts' version with this sample. He said he first heard it when he turned on the TV in the morning and went to brush his teeth, he heard it and was grooving to it so he came out and recorded it on his VCR.

Actually, I doubt DJ Quik even heard this original version of the song, but the one he most likely listened to was the 2000 remix "Kaliyon Ka Chaman", which has the same melody and beats (and even the moans) that the 2002 Truth Hurts song has.

If music producers and record companies were so suit-happy when listeners downloaded their songs eg. by using free download software, why shouldn't Bollywood producers sue? Plus, musicians in India get a pittance when they record compared to the millions Dr. Dre would have gotten.

(Also, people who do other genres of music also sample) Sampling is when permission is granted to use a song in another song. And samples can be used creatively. (Check out The Avalanches' or Fat Boy Slim's music for creative sampling) Please get your facts right before smearing an entire group of people. Thanks.

I remember i was in Minneapolis that time and i hear the "Truth Hurts". Like any other indian we can't miss on Lata Mangeshkar's voice. She is the voice of India for last 60 years and no indian can miss it. I went next day to see if due credit was given to Lata by the new album. There was no mention. Over the period the issues were raised and I am assuming things settled down. We all love the original song ( it was probably not known to people since the film didnt click that well ).
