I don't really like to do originals the "exact" same way, but like to mix it up a little (not too much) of my own way, hoping to make it sound better than the original. So my suggestion is for you to do the same. Maybe make 2 videos of the same song.. one like it's originally played, and one with it YOUR way. Ex: toward the end of this song, I thought you could have played the hi-hat in 8th or 16th notes. All sounds great! God bless.

@caydnlofton you have an independence problem between your limbs. Look up independence exercises on youtube. It's one of those things that takes practice. You can't overcome it without playing and forcing yourself to fix it.
@chrsharvick29 Grab the book doule bass drum if you know how to read music. it teaches u exactly how to keep a constent high hat tap while going crazy with the feet;)
@caydnlofton if you don't want to independent exercises you can always take the rhythm slower and practice till you have it down. After that you can quicken the tempo till you know for sure that you can play it without any lack of independent.
@caydnlofton I had the same problem and overcame it not too long ago. It took me a year of playing to finally become independent from my legs and my hands. However, I did it by just constantly playing challenging songs like that on my ipod and I finally focused enough to get it right. You can practice it very easily by playing it very slowly (And I mean really slowly!!!) until you are comfortable to play it a little faster until you can play it up to the speed of the actual song =)
@caydnlofton Just a piece of advice I can give you. Practice much more, because it only happens when you don't have too much practice.... or you might be dyslexic.
You can do a very easy exercise; like for example, one of rock drums. Rock drum is often quite easy.

@mapleric I've been playing for over 20 years and so I began when I was VERY young. The songs in church aren't really hard, like this one, so you could learn them fairly quickly. BUT, it takes some people longer to learn than others. You have to practice and take the time to learn.

You do them very well and are not afraid to post them on a site that is harsh when it comes to something they don't like. You should recover the song with the new version of Our God. Not too much difference... but I like the Synth Strings that were added... the drum part is a little different. You pretty much play the song the way I do!
Personally, I'm glad you went to open hats on the big C after the builds.. The ride in the original track sounds cheesy and feels like it lets the energy drop off the huge build. Im also glad your didn't ride the crash because thats becoming over used in the christian Genre. You played 90% of the song lick for lick (beginning) and in the end, you changed what I always change. I agree with your kick pattern on the builds too... Quarters through most then the eights at the end. good job.

I am a drummer, but I have a really bad habit.
Whenever I do the kick drummer I have the play my hands at the same rate.
Example: If I am playing high hat, and I double kick the bass drum I double tap the Hi Hat.
How can I fix this bad habit? Any advice?

Good job! I have a question. How do you get the song without the drum part? Did you buy a special CD without the drum track or use some software to remove it? I would like to do similar thing so I can practice.
