I love your mind. I never thought I would run acrossa you tuber so facile with the ability to leap tall abstraction levels at a single bound. You have taken liberties with the words and that is fine ! The Broom, the sprite, wow. Bering as smart as you are will lead to a conflicted life surrounded by nice folks who are, in comparison to you , dullards. Be nice to them..but Dont let them bug you...Keep it up !!! This took a lot of work and you are inspiring me. Wow
It's probably a good thing I can't make videos. At the "Do you swallow it in spite?" would have been accompanied of either a picture of a sign that said "I'm not touching that one" or of a big, black screen that said "CENSORED" in big, red letters.
Good old Lonnie Donegan! This, of course, was a remake of a song that originally made its debut in 1924 as "Does Your Spearmint Lose Its Flavour On The Bedpost Overnight" - this time with the correct non-usage of the apostrophe in "it's"!
@hrpman Love it when someone notices lingo nuances. In this vid, the poster rally goes wild with substitutions on words..and I think it's a scream. Thanks for the note on its it's.
I THINK the flip side was: "When It's Tooth-pickin' Time In False Teeth Valley... I USED to have the 45 too.. as a kid.. it was probably in my folks sale bill :(
Lonnie Donegan was the king of British skiffle music in the 1950s, and one of the early influences on the Beatles. His big hit was Rock Island Line, which the Quarrymen (as the Beatles were called then) used to play in concert.
@DoubleOhSammy - and its 'night' not 'knight' but he was obviously having a joke. The song is awesome and the pics that go with it are hilarious! love your interpretations. LOL at sprite! Great Job :)
What a gas! I remember a little yellow single with this on one side and this is the only side we played. The video was great, except for the Sprite sodas. Hahahahahahha! LOL
Good job on the camp project! I remember this song from the radio oh so many years ago. I'll play it for the grandkids next time they come over! Thanks!
I use to play this song on record...anyone remember records? I'd play it fast so it sounded like the chipmunks. and do a little a dance and lip sink it to my friends. damn that was fun.
Never underestimate what Lonnie Donnegan did for Music his style -Skiffle-influenced many a HUGE name - I took the following from his page in Wikipedia:
The skiffle style encouraged amateurs to get started, and one of the many skiffle groups that followed was The Quarrymen formed in March 1957 by John Lennon. Donegan's "Putting On The Style"/"Gamblin' Man" single was number one on the British charts in July 1957, when Lennon first met Paul McCartney.
that was a wicked video, me and my mum loved it :D nice one!! Wicked song haha, my dad had it on some random old tape and I loved it when I was like 5/6 years old
Actually, the singer's name is Lonnie Donegan and not Donnie Lonegan. Nevertheless, this is a great record and a fabulous clear recording. Thanks very much for posting.
Lol. This song is hilarious because the lyrics are totally silly. I don't know what's more stupid the intro-lyrics? 'Oh-me, oh-my, oh-you Whatever shall I do Hallelujah, the question is peculiar I'd give a lot of dough If only I could know The answer to my question Is it yes or is it no' The chorus? OR this part: If tin whistles are made of tin What do they make fog horns out of Boom, boom
my granddad has a cd with a bunch of songs like these he played when i was younger. i thought they were really silly. it also had the purple people eater!
Donegan did this so long ago but it still brings a smile. I love the joke "...if tin whistles are made of tin, what do they make fog horns out of?" You can create a string of these, rattle them off to a drunk engineer and watch when the forehead ends up where the chin is figuring the joke out! Boom Boom!
He was your countryman with a string of funny tunes. Not that many came over "the pond" but those that did made an impression. He is gone now, but his music is missed.

SPITE
If your mother tells you not to do something, then of course, you do it in
SPITE. Fright, only when she's a single Mom, dominating with her witchedness. Therefore, you MUST to things in spite, or you shall be spited upon.
