I was never aware of this video game throughout my entire childhood. Until I've noticed it on YouTube recently. I was aware of Donkey Kong 3 with Stanley the gardener. And I also had the 1983 Donkey Kong 2 Nintendo pocket game. It looked exactly like Donkey Kong Junior.

@kaddoretchameshpin This game wasn't made until the 2000's or so. I believe it's just a different set of ROMS - it's the same exact hardware as Donkey Kong but the game has been rewritten.

These boards were discontinued. Arcadeshop sold them. I will never sell mine. this game can be downloaded on MAME version 1.40 or something like that. it is a great game and very challenging !

@baldmormon The game is on a Multicade for one and the new levels are added so the game now has like 8 different levels. Have you ever seen a DK 2? This one resides in my basement now. NO original Donkey Kong was harmed OR converted. Just kind of cool to have a retro game that has been hacked and added to a multicade board!

@blockygraphics, the upgrade to D2k is well worth $70. It's way more challenging than the original DK. DK was hard enough as was. I am a member of PAC (Portland Arcade Collectors) and so is Rich from This Old Game who you bought you art package from. Hope you get a DK cabinet soon. Best wishes

no way I remember playing this somewhere when i was a kid i don't recall where it was either in a store or an icecream place all i remember is having a snow cone or something. But I thought it had luigi in it. I remember one donkey kong arcade having luigi in it but I don't know if it was a pirate one or not sadly I may never know :(

@mexicanwaluigi could have been a color hack (bootleg running on other game hardware). otherwise the only "donkey kong 2" that existed prior to this hack was the old nintendo "game and watch" lcd hand held (with the flip dual screen).

I played this game at Funspot today, and it was challenging!!! If you've never been to Funspot I HIGHLY suggest you do.......I cried a bit when I first entered the arcade and wept like a baby when I had to leave.

The old one you only had to make it to where Donkey Kong was then you went to the next level. The new one you have to make it all the way up the ladder where the girl is.

I have not been able to make it past the mixer level after 20 or more tries. It is tough!! There is an update to make it easier but I wll leave it the way it is.

It is a ROM update for the DK Hardware. You can also put it on a multicade board such as the one im playing in the video.

DK2 is not available for MAME yet.

It might be very hard to do that, but if he could, there's a lot of sales he could make.

That game looks Awesome especially since I didn't know it existed and do love DK...I don't know if you remember I had DK/DKjr in a DK Jr cabinet, but it broke so I traded it to a guy who could fix it for his kids...And in exchange he fixed my broken Guitar pedal...Obviously I wish I still had it =:<
