  • Bea Arthur was original approached to play ursula the sea witch. But something happened oh she was doing the golden girls so she turned the role down. I bet she kicked herself for not doingt that.

  • i'm shocked that rue mcclanahan isn't in this interview as well.

  • what yr was this?

  • We will always love you Bea, RIP <3

  • bea arthur amazing.....audra mcdonald beeeee u tiful

  • Just how log was the closing themes of Maude, All Im The Family?

They seem to go on and on and on.

  • I wonder what WAS up with Bea's shoes. From what I know she really didn't like wearing shoes and preferred to be barefoot when possible but you almost always saw her in sandals.

  • Where is woopi goldberg?

  • @PREZILLA2009 rosie is pre-whoopi

  • It doesn't matter how old the Maude show is, the fact is that well written comedy is timeless, and that show is DEFINITELY timeless as well as the other Norman Leer shows, Good Times, All In The Family, The Jeffersons. All of these shows are prime examples of how superb writing and great acting go hand in hand. WE ALL MISS YOU BEA Thanks for making us laugh thru the years. :)

  • I don't like Elizabeth...ABC needed an air head!!

  • Head Bitch in Control

  • Wow. Maude was like Cesar Romero in drag

  • bea arthur is truly THE HBIC!

  • @ilovetortillas ??? "THE HBIC"? What's that?

  • @praises9700 Weight jokes are the cheapest shots - you must have a 6th grade education if that's the best you can come up with. Do you know what 1 + 1 ='s ?

  • @MrEricSevert I'm sorry your right....... She's a stupid stinking cow.

  • the daughter plays Suzanne on General Hospital now

  • u can tell Bea was sick then

  • @keonta81 I noticed that too. But she still kept it going up to the end.

  • @codyC6969 Well, I guess she forgot that she was interviewing Bea and Adrienne with other women too. Kind of ticked me off that she didn't really respect the other women on the show. :(

  • They don't make women(Bea,that is)and shows(as well as All in the Family)like that anymore..

  • Rosie ruined the special moment.

Adrienne looks great! She looks wayy younger than her age!! :)

    We luv ya Bea!

  • Just shut up, Rosie handles herself wonderfully. It's dumbass Americans like you that are ruining the world.

  • God Adrieene is still stunning. Women half her age would kill to have tits like that.

  • Bea will always be a legend: I loved her ever unconventional footwear as well (sneakers, flip flops and she wore those Uggs before the got trendy).

Adrienne Barbeau aged great (in her mid 60's now): she was brilliant in Carnivale.

  • does anyone know the date of this? april 5 2008?

  • it's like rosie still thinks she's still on her own show and the other women are just there to remind her of points she was going to make. i really forgot how annoying she made the view. it's so much better now.

  • Oh please, she completely stole the show with her controversial views and uplifting personality. The View is worse without her.

  • @ItBrandonSilver I like her, don't get me wrong, but she can't share a stage...she's too big for it, personality-wise.

  • Rosie, shut the hell up!!!!!!

  • @eme1ec

You shut the hell up. She didn't say anything out of whack, which means you just hate her period I guess..

  • man i love the golden girls.ALL OF THEM!!!!

  • she was better in Golden Girls

  • thank god for re-runs! i was 1 year old when Maude first came on television. and i think i was 10 or 11 years old when i first saw an episode...and was a fan ever since.

Bea's comedic timing was like no other. you will be missed, but never forgotton Bea.

  • this is charming. I love seening an older woman with her daughter

  • R.I.P Bea <3

  • Big mouth Rosie. So vile. She ruins the entire clip.

  • where is season 2 of this great show??

  • is the black ladie michelle obama

  • @Theparksideshow Don't be an asshole

  • @Theparksideshow that would be Broadway legend, Audra McDonald

  • I agree, JB

  • The funny thing is, 35 years or not, Maude is still funnier and better written and has better comedic actors than 99% of the sitcoms now.

  • @JBinOtown god they suck so bad now that it makes me want to re generate her and a younger leslie nealson 60-65 and make a spin off called Our Golden Years comprised of writers who know how to do 80's- 90's sitcoms complete with intro and theme song

  • @JBinOtown DEFINITLEY!

  • Bea did so good being over 80 and battling cancer...she was very brave and I'll always admire her for that. And WOW--how in the world does Adrienne Barbeau stay so gorgeous after all these years? She's hardly aged at all! Thank you for posting this precious clip! :)

  • REST IN PEACE OUR DEAR BEA .

  • Bea, we miss and love you <3

  • Bea was a fantastic woman, who provided inspiration to millions of people, regardless of age, gender or sexual orientation. I myself was inspired to share with the world that I wear adult diapers and i am not ashamed to admit it! I saw an episode of Golden Girls and that was it. I was hooked. I wish more women were like Bea, so sensual and erotic. She was the perfect woman. I aspire to someday meet a woman like her, who accepts me and my diapers for who we really are. RIP we Love you BEA!

  • Are you serious?

  • No, you're not serious. What a turd.

  • I Why would you insult someone on a tribute to Bea? She was a masculine yet caring woman. Cant you imagine being held firmly in her arms. Her strong hands carressing your face..... That is what Bea means to me. One day I will meet Mrs Arthur in heaven and we WILL make passionate love together on a cloud. Ive seen it in my dreams. She gave me the courage to tell everyone about my pants-pooping problems. How DARE you insult me and Mrs Arthur.

    - The future MR. ARTHUR

  • Have you tried "Oops! I crapped my pants!"? It's an adult diaper that is better than all the rest. Not that I know from personal experience. It's just what I've heard.

  • R.I.P BEA

  • "Well it's nice to see you!" Oh bea; everybody's grandma...

  • Rosie sang the theme? Lol that would have been hilarious

  • Aw, I wish I was alive when this was on the air :(

  • It makes me very sad to think this was Bea's final TV show appearance. And none of us had any idea she had cancer.

Bea, I miss you more than words can say and I'll always love you so much..

  • wow really? i didn;t know this was the last one. it makes watching this clip so sad. i can't believe she died. she was a classic timeless beauty and talent that no one will ever forget. RIP Bea:)

  • @ExAxLxPx12 Well, this was her last talk show interview type appearance. But the TV Land Awards in 2008 was her final televised appearance :(

    Yes, RIP Bea

  • Farewell to a national treasure. RIP, love you forever Bea

  • We miss you Bea! :(

  • We love you Bea, and we always will!

    RIP Maude Findlay/Dorothy Zbornak

  • WHERE'S SEASON 2??

  • I hate Joy!

  • I hate Elizabeth Haselbeck omg shes so whiny hate her voce and her aura, etc...

  • They bring them both on the show for 5 frickin minutes?! Why not devote a little more time because they didn't even really get to discuss anything so it becomes a forgettable and pointless interview.

  • she totatlly past by that black lady lol. watch it she just passes her

  • i thought i was the only that caught that!!!!

  • she gives her a nod.

  • I miss bea sooo much ...love her!!

  • I can't be;ive how adorable Adrian Barbeau. She looks like she around 40

  • REST IN LEACE BEA ARTHUR

  • bea was a classy broad...RIP

  • Did Barbeau get a breast reduction?

  • It's called AGING naturally.

  • The View recently showed this clip but they edited out everything with Rosie from the clip!

  • What a relief!!

  • Lol

  • Thank goodness.

  • I love you Bea!

  • my God what size are her shoes????? 1:59

  • omg! how old was barbeau when she had the twins who are now 12? did she adopt them?

  • She had twins herself at 50 and she was 60 in the video.

  • yes they were adopted

  • yes they were adopted

  • LOVE Rosie, Bea and this entire interview! -- flawless. RIP brilliant, beautiful Bea

  • "Lady Godiva was a freedom rider;

She didn't care if the whole world looked.

Joan of Arc, with the Lord to guide her, she was a sister who really cooked..."

  • one of my greatest comforts in life is to watch her on Golden girls..She will be missed- she realy looks great here- same as she did on Golden girls like she hadnt even age in the past 20 yrs.. It feels like losing a member of the family :'(

  • I can't believe you are gone, Bea! You will always be my favorite! Long live the Golden Girls!!!!

  • rip bea we all loved you very much

  • rosie is annoying

  • you're disgusting. and you mispelled her last name, dunce.

  • YOU CAN KISS MY ENTIRE ASS!!! Did I spell that right?

  • Bea and Rosie are great.

  • WOW!;Maude is dead!Wow,wow, wow. we children of the television era never believe people die. But alas they do don't they. R.I.P. Maude you brought joy and happiness to many!

  • I'm sure that Bea & Estelle are having cheese cake together tonight.

    RIP GOLDEN GIRL

  • My thoughts exactly ;-)

  • yeah right ! They went to the judgement like we all will sooner or later!

  • Maude is very good. I think The Golden Girls was better but Maude was still very good. Plus as a bonus, Rue McClanahan was on both shows as well!

  • Bea Arthur .. what a wonderful woman she was. RIP.

  • R.I.P BEA ARTHER

  • Thanks for being you, Ms. Bea....

  • We will miss you Bea.... you are an Icon for all

  • RIP Bea! You will be missed. Thank goodness for reruns!

  • I loved her on the Golden Girls and I will miss her vedry much... Now ahe is keeping Estelle Getty company.. That thought alone will keep me smiling... :-)

  • I could say I was grown by the 3 aunts and grandma... I miss 'em all... great actresses and great tv show... so sad knowing that Bea died yesterday :(

  • RIP Bea. You are a comedy legend and I will miss you. 'Shady Pines, Ma!' xx

  • This is pathetic. They give her 3 min when she was a comic genius who made television history.

  • That was really unfortunate.

  • Nothing beats a great theme song and Maude's was right up there with 'The Jeffersons', 'Good Times' and of course 'The Golden Girls'...Norman Lear, what a genius! Always pushing the envelope of acceptance...And Bea Arthur, a comedic actress with an impeccable sense of timing, humor and deadpan delivery...The murder mystery episode of GG spotlights Ms. Arthur at her best...She will be missed..In the words of Sophia Patrillo, 'when I'm feeling down I'll think of (Bea Arthur), and I'll SMILE.'

  • her last television appearance...RIP Bea

  • I thought the Pam Anderson Roast was after this?

  • Bea thanks for all the times you made me laugh, always a part of me.

  • Good catch, I had forgotten they had been on "The View"

  • It is a sad day... What an amazing woman she was. She did so much for women by playing thought-provocative roles (Maude, Dorothy). A true lady left us today. Thank you for all the laughs, and have a wonderful time in Heaven.

I will always remember with a smile Dorothy's favorite line: 'Shut up, Rose!'.

  • I just heard and Bea---I LOVE YOU!!!! Thank you for the laughs and the great voice. You brought me such joy. Thank you!!!!

  • RIP BEA. You will be missed.

  • If I had a dime for everytime Bea (Dorothy) made me laugh........Another reminder of how time marches on....There are alot of heartbroken people today, myself included, WE Love you Bea.

  • RIP Bea!

  • OMG...I just found out that my favorite Golden Girl died!!First Estelle and now Bea...I can't believe it!!

  • RIP Bea.

  • May you Rest in Peace Bea. The world has lost an exceptional lady and heaven has gained an angelic spirit. Will miss knowing you are here with us Miss Bea! There will be none other like you :0)

  • It's cool how us Bea Arthur fans are finding ways to share our grief over losing this amazing human being. Thanks for being our friend Ms. Arthur. As a gay man, I appeciate your stand and your fighting for ALL of our civil rights.

  • Rip bea our hearts and our prayers go out to her friends and family during this difficult time she has touched the lives of so many people with all her accomplishments mahalo bea for all of the laughs and may you rest easy now

  • Love you Bea!

  • One of the great matrons of comedy, Bea Arthur. She says in this clip that it was 35 years (now 37 years) since Maude began. I watched her on the Roast of Pam Anderson, and she never lost her sense of humor or her classic delivery.

  • Also had to add.....does Hasselback look sooooo awkward in this clip. She knew she was sooo out numbered here and at least she had the respect to shut up, for most of it except her insipid... "well, wasn't it a little risky" comment. Man how that women repels me! Bea Arthur....1922-2009! Shalom!

  • Ms. Arthur.........remembering many, many laughs. From Yenta the Matchmaker, to Vera Charles, friend of Mame, to Maude who there are no words for, to Dorothy, who with Sophia, Blanche and Rose, made me, us I hope, laugh for 7 years, but in totality, Ms Arthur, over 40 years of humor from 'Fiddler' to 'Golden Girls'! As Yenta said......"Do I suffer, yes I suffer, but I suffer in silence"...and Ms Arhtur made much of that suffering a little less and made me laugh a little more! Shalom!

  • Bea Arthur - What a remarkable and unforgettable woman! Rest in peace Bea and thank you for making me smile and laugh! Love You, Mike

  • Aside from the fact that she was a great actor, what made me love her was that she was a BIG fan of MOTOGP motorcycle road racing. I remember seeing her on the tonight show once when Johnny asked her what sports she liked and she answered Motorcycle Grand Prix Racing and that her son was best friends with the at-the-time world champion, Eddie Lawson...that was good enough for me. I got to meet her once and talked to her about it and she was so nice. RIP

  • RIP

  • RIP Bea.

  • God Bless you Bea. RIP We Love You!!

  • Golden Girls shouldn't die, dammit! I'm so sad. :(

  • RIP Bea you were one of a kind!

  • Bea, to me is greatness.

I just have so much love and respect for that woman.

    She is truly timeless

  • I never saw this clip. How great that they both appeared together. Maude was a very funny sitcom.

  • Ah Bea and Adrienne both still sexy as H...!

  • O'Donnell saw Arthur at a social occasion and sang the entire theme song from "Maude" at her. Oy.

  • orthepedic shoes...back problems

  • shes in her eighties! What do you expect her to wear?! Stilettos?

  • that was very nice.

i have the dvd and i cherish it.

  • She is 86 Years young and still at it!!

  • I love Bea!

  • i wish they had spent more time interviewing bea and adrienne, this was such a great show!!and i am still waiting for the other seasons!!

  • And yet still haven't released the second season yet !

  • Loooove Bea!!!!! Much Love!

  • Bea is great..........

  • bea arthur had grown old but still smart and fabulous!!! she's so admirable... i know she'll live long! (",)

  • Complain to SONY. A lot of shows starring women are not out: the rest of MTM, Rhoda, Phyllis, Mary Hartman. Shame!!!
