What a great piece of Aussie music history - hauntingly beautiful and sung with so much emotion. As they say, don't make em like that anymore! Thanks to my Mum and Dad for having me in 1948 and allowing me to grow up through the best times in music.
Been waiting a while for this- thanks for posting MrPurser. Wendy went through many phases including unfortunately the self destructive one endemic in performance artists.Pity she didn't record more since this single alone places her on a unique pedestal. Saw Wendy live a few times with Jeff St John and other bands-awesome voice which resonates with passion & which I prefer to Janis J Go Wendy !
@MalThorgan ....agreed......from 1.20 Wendy just builds an intensity that has an ethereal quality, & the strings add the perfect emotional accompaniment....& while the production gets a bit over the top by the end, this song is a classic example of the late 60's early 70's Australian scene with 6 minute songs & passionate singing from a passionate soul.
Wendy refused to suck up to the "music industry"....a bit too honest for her own good......as the GTK interview shows...respect 2 her !
this was issued on majestics 20 dynamic hits volume two in edit form

@winifredatwell Like you, I only have the version from 20 FABULOUS HITS, which at $3.99 was the most economical way to buy music back in 1970.
