As a note, spraying the pait up against the house/eaves like the guy was doing in the beginning can release pait droplets into the wind. If it sticks to someone's car then you can be held liable for damages.
We called the power company and had them wrap the "live" wire. It still felt very strange resting the ladder against it. Not a comfortable feeling at all.
From what I've seen, vinyl and aluminum siding look better when they've just been painted than when they were new, but that's because the stuff looks so horrible when it's new. Maybe, after 30 coats of paint, it won't feel so squishy and temporary when you lean something against it. It will be interesting to see how long this stuff can go without peeling, maybe that pressed-in "wood grain" can serve a purpose after all.
