History is more complicated than that, there are shades of grey etc. Wether the game portray the french or the vietminh as heroes, it's still a dumbed down version of history

i've played cod4, and I've never considered it to have a great story. It's not necessarily about history lesson, but having coherent/believable setting. A mod for freespace 2 called "blue planet: war in heaven" had a setting where the opponent wasn't just a bunch of bloodthirsty monsters.

7554 being essentially a cod even in the story telling, I now have no interest in it

The game is mainly made for Vietnamese customers, and it did well to resonate with its intended players as far as I know. The reason it does not appeal to you, I think, is simply because you're not Vietnamese, specifically those proud of the victories depicted.

Okay well, graphics are extremely dated (Looks like original CoD), animations are buggy and sub-par to say the least. Game play is going to be exactly the same as every other WW2 game out there, regardless of the fact that it's one of the first games to not be from an American point of view it's still a poor game. I don't see a market for this game anywhere in the world outside of Vietnam, unfortunately the sad truth is no one really cares about what happened.
