  • Players like these manage to squeeze so much feeling out one or two notes, its superb.

  • Kings Solo is from "Prison Tycoon" isn´t it?

  • fucking awesome

  • Thats Stevies dad make no mistake Albert and Stevie were father and son!!

  • This is real music... :-) love it !!!!

  • thank you for posting this...

  • Whenever Stevie played with his contemporaries, he would hold WAY back, like 50%, and still sound better than everyone else. Thank you God for giving us Stevie.

  • @waynerjson with the greatest respect albert ws not a "contempary" of srv - he wrote the book before srv was in school - he was an "originator" where stevie created his own thing by assimilating albert jimi lonnie etc and putting his honesty and soul into it......

  • I used to see Stevie play with Paul Ray and the Cobras at Soap Creek Salon every Tuesday night. Cost of admission? One US dollar.

  • stevie you finally got your dues, why is it always after death people stand up and notice!

  • great tune

  • Albert has such a seduction tone. i wish i could get a tone like that

  • Who would ever give this a thumbs down. IT IS MAGICAL!!!

  • THE KING BABY!!

  • let us not forget the great albert king. one of the best of the old time blues

guitar players. i hope he doesnt get lost in time. it looks like even

stevie ray saw his talent. and had admiration for this talented man.

  • 'Holy Shit' best describes this clip. I pulled TF out of the library this morning, and that prompted me to search this song. Thanks for posting, my man.

  • che dire il meglio delle note tirate smollate allungate etc.etc.

  • Stevie Ray is another one who died tragicly and to young. What does it take to keep gifted , talented entertainers like this here? Stevie Ray we need your soul. RIP!

  • two of the greatest players ever

  • An overlooked truth-Stevie was a BADASS rhythm player!

    Check him out at 1:40.

    He's killing the time...

  • Stevie always played with guitar tuned down to Eb with heavy strings and using his strumming hand fingers to yank the high strings off the fretboard, alla Albert, to get those sudden loud sounding bends.

  • Albert played with out of phase pickups, no pick and highest string at the top and root note on the 3rd highest string so had that slightly sqwauky sound, not a wah half open, a unique sound that is hard to reproduce on a standard guitar. Also rumoured to use open F tuning or E-min tuning with a low C.

  • Two of the greatest of all time. Incredible.

  • standard tuning?!

  • @ihatemychemical Albert King used an altered tuning, but nobody is certain exactly what.

  • does albert have a wah half cocked or something ? thats what it sounded like in the begining

  • @jhump2431 Sounds like Albert has some sort of phaser, plus humbuckers and an old valve amp. Nice thick tone!

  • @NurseDischord Actually, the one time I saw him i the UK, he was play through a Roland Jazz Chorus, a very clean solid state amp. Still sounded like AK though. Go figure.

  • @garrym417 I know that tone comes from your fingers and the way they interact with your guitar, but I was answering a question regarding his tone on this particular video. I don't disagree that AK sounded like AK regardless of what he played, as the same is true of everybody!

  • this is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Stevie showin respect to the King . Nice!

  • I will always love SRV s music he is the best

  • stevie is my favourite i love playin his songs on guitar and im 13

  • Old Timer is teasing lil' white skinny so he can unleashed his flow. Magic :D

  • Man SRV was so nervous playing with his idol that he completely fudged the lyrics "Flood water keep a rollin" at the wrong time...oh well it's awesome to see these legends together! Great song!

  • WTF? No one compares to SRV!

  • oh calm down u srv nuthugger. im just saying that u can see where john mayer got alot of his influence singing and playing from in this performance

  • Well it would be the other way around, you can see a lot of SRV in Mayer's playing, he was like his main influence, he's said that in several interviews.

  • i know. thats wat i said in my other comment V

  • @thedoc56 Just no, just.... just no... Someone slap this kid!

RIP Guys, this is an AMAZING jam, just inspires me to get better at guitar.

  • Albert King was Stevie's main influence. Great to see these two together.

  • theyre having shit loads of fun

  • @support, there is an album of the sessions with stevie with albert, but it's it's own deal

  • this is truely great, the presence , the stories told , the badass blues , the respect from one great to another , pure magical!! favourited the whole session thats available on yt....great post, thanx a million!!

  • Im so glad I stoped by and listened to this, this is a rely awesome viodeo,

  • And why wasn't this on the album version on the C.D. I have? Or even a DVD version somewhere?

  • JACK WHITE MY ASS!

  • AMAZING!!! Mindblowing to see two blues

greats jam with each other like this.

  • Why is this different from the CD?

  • anyone know what kind of amp king played on?

  • Roland JC-120

  • How come this isn't on the In Session CD?

  • @Gibbo1291 Cause stevie fucked up with the lyrics

  • this is just genius

  • btw this is a live feed from heaven

  • You know that where ever these two are right now, this is EXACTLY what they are doing.

  • @bmchugh9

yea, but weird how Albert died "after" Stevie...........

  • It is amazing listening to Albert, knowing how much influence he obviously had on Stevie's style. This is like father and son. Heaven must be totally rockin, and I won't bother knockin if I get there.

  • aaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh love this to death.....

  • Two greats definitely!!

  • Go Ahead Whiteman play that shit! Damn SRV can play!

  • damn I just got a glimpse at what blues heaven must look like

  • Damn who is this SRV?

  • Are you s#!*ing me!?!? Do you really not know who Stevie Ray Vaughan is?? Go out right now and buy the album "Texas Flood"! Go on now, and don't do anything else til you listen to it all the way through. What are you waiting for??? Go BUY it NOW!!!

  • @furox1973 i loved that shit when i was a kid , but it sounds dated now, not to disrespect stevie but....... some stuff just holds up better over time.

  • @ncbloom , this will never grow old. This is is what classic really is.

  • Thanks for posting! Priceless. They had so much love and respect for each other!Made me shed a tear or two!

  • Believe me dude, he does. He just plays it different.

  • HeeHeeHeeHee, that's classic. Who are you, the son of Yogi Berra? Listen to "Hendrix in the West" , which features Little Wing live. Although it is listed on the album as being recorded at the San Diego Sports Arena it was actually recorded at Royal Albert Hall. Search it and listen.

  • Yeah ok, but if we are gonna talk about Live performances... of course. Hendrix improvised most of his live performances. But the studio version uses the same chords as SRV does. I took a listen to the "in the west" version. And it has the same chords, just different licks played over them. Believe me i've just played along with that version.

  • That's cause he made his own version out of it adding his own things, style, licks, etc... If he wanted he could easily copy that version, but he was a real man and decided to play it in his own way, a way that many can only dream about being on a such high level producing amazing music.

  • albert king reminds me of a cool ass granddad lol

this is amazing thm together jus jammn!

  • Loooooove Albert King

  • YES!

  • That's part of his thing, man. He'd always have little conversations with the audience in his old concerts too. Ever heard Blues Power?

  • If you saw and listened to Albert King You'd never forget it ...

I missed seeing Stevie Rae, I am Sarry to say.

The writer of this song Larry Davis was called, the Texas Flood.....

May Albert, Larry and Stevie Rae have peace in the promised land !

This was cut off, should be a felony to do that to such a great jam...

  • orgasmico!!!

  • lol i noticed you got thumbs down, but you are right actually. he was known to be quite arrogant. in a book about hendrix, he said he could play jimi's stuff no problem but jimi couldnt play his stuff and basically talked down jimi's use of pedals. i wouldnt call him a cunt, lol, but he was arrogant.

  • fuck, the only bad part of this vid is that it had to end >.>

  • Wes who ?????

  • Thanks SRV and Albert King for all the amazing music and love you passed our way, catch you on the other side for that big jam session in the sky, its gona be good!!!

  • You can just feel the great respect that SRV had for Albert King.. such a humble dude

  • Wow... That's just great stuff right there

  • Play stevie play it! ;) even on the other side, I know you're making a jam session with jimi hendrix right now XD see you some day buddy ^^

  • im not taking any sides but these 2 are just 2 of the amazing guitarists we've ever seen. its sad theyve now passed as im sure we'd still be learning off them still. btw albert king maybe the greatest because he plays that gat upside down....lol

  • I love seeing 2:33, Albert was trying to get SRV to really rip in and kill it and when he started in you can see the look on Alberts face, he gets all happy. Awesome footage here.

  • @DystopianAwakening b.b. king once said that stevie used to hold back, when he played with other guitarists, out of respect.

  • You must be referring to this quote:

"When we played together, Stevie used to hold back because he didn't want to embarrass me. That's just the kind of guy he was."

The difference between BB and Albert is the difference between a car and a Mack truck. Stevie did not hold back when he was playing with Albert.

  • @ ishawnm, I'm sorry but Stevie did hold back when he played with Albert. You can see it throughout all of the In Session videos. People that were at this performance said the same thing. Stevie wouldn't upstage his idols, cause that's not Stevie

  • plus when ur in the studio on a stool you tend not to get over indulgent

  • i call it masturbation

  • It's always fun to watch two giants having fun.

  • Stevie's here let him sit in....RIP Stevie and Albert we miss you:(

  • favorited +5 stars are too low.

  • i soooo love this performance! my godness is this not talent at its finest, i mean an ledler king of the blues, and (then) and up in coming beast of the blues who just single handedly revived it, with his wailing licks and howling growl of a voice. may they rest in peace, and till we see you in paradise. (id like some lessons please) LOL

  • Mr.King......meet the legend Stevie Ray.

  • sorry...you've got it ass backwards

If it weren't for the greats like Albert, Stevie would have been flippin' burgers in Ft.Worth

  • No such thing. Stevie was always going to be a legend with or without the burger flipping. Albert had his day in the sun just as one day someone will come along who will put Stevie in the shade. But that someone wont be in our life time or our grandchildrens life time!

  • You are missing the point, as most pointy headed know it alls do. SRV would be completely without a frame of reference without Albert, Freddie, B.B., Albert Collins, Magic Sam, et al... do you think he made that shit up by his own self dumbass?

  • Ohh....'without a frame of reference'? Really fuckwit. And where did they get their 'frame of reference' from? Did they make it up from nothing? Dumbass. None of that shit matters all that matters is SRV is a legend and you're spastic.

  • It's great , but Albert is out of tune with Stevie.....

  • Stevie grew up knowin' what a "woop" was, so that's how he knows respect!

  • Huhh...what is a "woop" ?? :D

  • A "woop" is a stick or switch from a tree or bush that is used to spank a child when they are rebelious and willful against a parents wishes. It is not to bruse or break the skin but just to sting the childs legs or bottom. Stevie was offering up "the bottom of his feet to be "wooped" to remind him to have respect for his elders (Albert who is like his daddy).

  • That was great! Loved the little mistake too though! " Flood waters keep ro oh ollin'.............those weren't the right words!!!" LoL! That was at 4:18 if anyone wanted to know. It's okay Stevie, you were always do for a couple of those for your years of perfect playing anyway!

  • I have a cd of this show.... all I have to say is awsome !!!! this is real music , 100 times better than todays s*** comercial music .

  • This is the real THANG!

  • Stevie's vocals are very good here! So smooth and of course his guitar playing! And I love Albert King! He rocks!

  • watching srv make love to those guitar strings while he plays is equivalent to

watching God pulling a rib out of Adam

and creating Eve (MUSIC) so surgical.

  • very SUPER natural MistressEllie! I'm on it! God love thier guitar pickin' hearts. Play On!

  • Just a note to all who don't know. A great blues guitar player talks with his music and a great blues guitar player understands it. When tywo greats get together, be it AK and SRV, or BB and Freddie, or Budyy and Quinn there is a conversation going on. Y'all should learn to listen to it.

  • I love Stevie Ray and his appoach to the blues, it was natural and wasnt forced. To me hes the next best to Jimmi Hendrx. Long live good guitar players of all musicasl baclgrounds and colors. Im a hip hop generation gut, raised in the 80s and use to get joked about loving rock and rool and the blues. Guess whos laughing now, good music is just good music. Because I like a variety of music, when I got into making beats, I knew all the samples and where to find rare gems.

  • preach on.... I never heard about this being younger... Found the CD In Memphis for 4.99, I've gotten my money worth. There is no 2nd place to real expression.

  • @vscol you can find a couple of sweet loops on side C of electric ladyland

  • I love this video, u can see Stevie Ray is like a big kid next to his idol, grinning from ear to ear. Two legends of the guitar, both sadly gone. RIP Albert & Stevie Ray. Your music will live on forever!!!!

  • At 2:40 SRV is trying to get albert's sound?

  • His whole life, he was trying to get Albert's sound...

  • LOVE IT THINK YOU FOR THE POST!!!

  • Albert was talking to try and build up the story of the song....not to just talk for no reason...dummy

  • Dumb ass its called blues to build suspense dip shit.

  • Funny...Wikipedia doesn't even LIST "In Session" (Canada) in their discogaphy! Man! I would LOVE a copy of this....AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Have you tryed Amazon? Had a friend who lived in Canada for awhile and he could'nt even use the Itunes card I sent. Complan about the lack of free trade or something! You must have THIS!

  • i love the tone on albert king's guitar!! sorry everyone i love the v sound not the strat but i can learn to love..

  • Stuff blues dreams are made of!! lovely!!!!

  • R.I.P stevie plus all the other great guitarest there was... stevie will be the best there very was!

  • I'm a huge SRV fan,But don't forget Randy Rhoads, unfortunately he left us too early to really show us what he could do, he was a musical genius.Litterally.

  • aw don't get me wrong randy was a musical genius! same as jimi damn i wonder how they would be if they were still in our world? so much talent!

  • Everyone knows that Albert King hated every guitarist but himself. But the only one that had a soft spot in his heart is Stevie. And I'm sure Albert did nothing but brag about Stevie, up until Stevie's death in 1990 and his own death in 1992

  • 0:47 WTF??? there's a cut on the tape... watch closely somethings missing...

  • these two and jimi are jaming it up in the after life now.......

  • whhhheeeew that was hot!

  • DAAAAAMN!!!!!!!!!! Nothin' like the blues!!!

RIP, Stevie...you were takin' away too soon...wish you were still around.

  • even behind the guitar they both seem like really nice guys

  • siempre quedo extasiado despues de escuchar las vertiginosas canciones de SRV capooo total !!

  • they fit like ring and finger!!

  • Comment removed

  • those who think ...dimebag darrel.. plays with more soul and heart than these two is completely delusional...

  • I love dimebag but I'll have to agree there is'nt any comparison... this is what its all about....!

  • how could anyone even compare , its like saying american sports cars are better, not european...its a completely different league, top notch but way different

  • but why in the world would you compare dimebag to SRV or Albert King?

thats like me saying yea Kurt Rosenwinkel owns Dimebag SRV and Albert King altogether. Rosenwinkel's phrasing and compositions are more interesting... but again Rosenwinkel is an avant garde jazz guitarist both these cats play blues and dimebag made his bones playing metal. why compare? just appreciate it

  • dimebag played blues guitar solos

  • i realize he played solos based on the blues scale most guitar players do... its hard not to when blues is laying foundation for so many of the music today. but still why compare guitarist? its like comparing italian food to chinese food. its futile

  • srv, albert king and darrel abbott aka dimebag darrell are all legends influenced many players.

they all have one thing in common they all had feel and could compose blues solos which alot of guitarist lack today in even on this video albert king said all people do is trying to play fast.

  • all solos and guitar liks are the blues they all origanated from the blues, blues was first, blues is best

  • Personally I think the way Stevie Ray Vaughan was to blues is on the same level as Dimebag to metal. The two of them had such intense charisma and attitude while sustaining such flow and soul in there playing. Remarkable musicians that will continue to influence for generations. Such a shame the two of them had to peace this world so early R.I.P

  • dimebag has nonthing to do with these legends hes metal these guys are blues legends

  • HONESTLY IT GETS NO BETTER

  • dimebag has got a verry small penis though, and dimebag just plays his guitar, stevie ray vaughan puts hus heart and soal into his playing

  • yeah the first round when stevie starts playing he shuts it down ha.

both are soo good ya knoww!well yall already know that but just saying ha.

i love stevie's style man. music just isnt so great anymore!

  • It breaks my heart to see those two gone :(

    ...but their music lives on!

  • I KNOW HOW YOU FEEL...stevie was like a kid in a store, all the time!! and when i look at these vids he's was so full of life!!! and its a crying shame the way we lost him... connie

  • stevies tuned to concert pitch. must be cause albert tunes normal and the chords?

  • My first instinct was to think this is the wrong title, because on IN session CD, Texas Flood is not on it...but here it is>>>>>>AWESOME!!! thanks for posting this!!!

  • Comment removed

  • farther and son

  • you dont have to say anything....SRV's soul tells the tail.

  • i dont know what to say but i think stevie is better

  • id say, but stevie has so much respect for albert king, like a father.

  • OMG albert's hands are oversized compared to his flying V,

  • At 4:18 :D

  • i think its blues at sunrise...

  • texas flood solo dude

  • at about 2:40 texas flood kicks in the rest is some kind of extended intro? lol

  • "i didnt hear you"

    hahah

  • oh what I wouldn't give to hear the whole song...

  • my god this is sooo awesome!

or could it be the 3 Coronas ive already had.

    but this sounds freaking awesome....

    i LOVE it.

  • no ones talking about Freddie King. He needs to be taken seriously in the discussion as a guitar player and singer. I'm glad someone mentioned jeff healey the man was blind for god sakes and still plays amazing.
