@agentspymonkey Let me see if I remember lol... I think I just made a new solid layer, added a circular mask, and added another smaller feather mask set to subtract. This gives you a faded circle shape. Scale it down vertically to give it perspective and with keyframes make it scale up (quickly) as the explosion detonates. Hope this helps!
@AnsonAdams This morning I made my own explosion element using two different explosions. It doesn't work in this comp because it's in zero gravity, but I think that it's interesting too.
Really good! The thing is; it is really hard to make an explosion like this look realistic since you choose to show the whole explosion from start to finish without cuts. In hollywood they have fast cuts and doesnt show as much. So really good job. You could try to make the surroundings light up a little bit; but just little since its daylight. Maybe have shockwave camera movement as Blender mentioned. Smoke looks like it really was there!! If you were making a movie try to not show as much! :)
