I wished our then president Carter might have used other means then to boycott these games! Unfortunately many dissappointed american athletes were forbidden to compete in Moscow and as such the NBC Network pulled out of the games as well! So as you can see these games were not televised in the U.S. and rightly so-why make our athletes miserable televising the games!

I remember watching this on TV back in 1980, and crying with Misha's tears. Then, in 2008, I accompanied the Greek team to the Beijing Games as one of their doctors. We stayed with them for a month in the Olympic Village and paraded at the Opening Ceremony. I will never forget that month as long as I live. In the Village, people exchanged pins in the garden in front of the Mayor's office. I managed to get TWO 1980 Olympic Misha pins! Best mascot ever. That cyclopic London "creature" is a joke!

Hi "tovarics". Unfortunatly the closing ceremony wasn't broadcast in Italy beacause of "Western countries" boycott, to protest Soviet war of Afghanistan. I remember just some video files of "tearing Misha". I've never seen this one till now. Misha is the prettiest mascot of all Olympics. I was 16 then. I can't watch it without nostalgija !!

The Soviets sent many people away for the duration of the Games, so they wouldn't be corrupted by the capitalist tourists and visitors.
