Thank you. Fortunately, there aren't many people at the ice rink in the evenings during the weekdays, especially in cold winter nights. So I have the place to myself. The rink is in fact too small for me and they don't have a zamboni but at least I don't have to deal with a crowd :)
thank you. The ice surface is terrible always, it has 1-2 cm of snow all the time cause they dont have a zamboni- imagine! it is never cleaned. the rink is usually empty in the evenings so i have it privately for myself almost !:)
nice stretch!!!! and nice Ina Bauer!!! You Ina Bauers are awesome, if you could bend your spine like Shizuka Arakawa, it would be even more awesome. I have trouble holding the leg in the back on my Ina Bauers! I wanna see you do a spiral on the ice. Mine are a disaster, that's why I like the half-Bielmmann or I spirals better! Keep up the good work!
ok, i will try bending like arakawa and you will come here and wait at the ice rink entrance with an ambulance to carry the pieces of my spine from the ice surface afterwards!!! :D:D:D i dont think my lifetime will be enough to develop a flexibility&strength like Arakawa's! :D enough kidding, of course I will try to bend more as I improve power & flexibility but arakawa's level is a distant dream.
I started including spiral positions in my warm-up programm, which I usually complete before hitting the ice before a training. that way it does not cost me much time and after some time it really pays out!
i used to do only cardio before the ice to raise the heartbeat, thats when y body really got "warm" with. stretching itself in fact isnt something that warms the body, it is something to do when the body is already warmed up so i think if you stretch after the ice it may be more efficient. I've also uploaded a layback video today have u seen it? First part was shot on the day i got injured :( second part is with the injured foot.
I haven't seen the layback vid yet, but I'll go and check it out right away;-) Stretching itself is of course much more efficient when you are warmed up and when I really stretch I always spend some 15min on the hometrainer first. To warm up I usually do some rope skipping, then some jumping exercises, then some strengthening (sit spin position and spiral positions) and finally some stretches. I use a technique that also warms up the muscles:
yes I do lots of warm up moves too, countless ones, hard to tell here, it takes me 30 mins usually, lots of stuff I learnt from my gymnastics coach. a mixture of ballet, pilates, gymnastics etc. abs, legs, hips, everything. same for stretching. i owe her a lot.i used to do a lot of rope skipping too i was able to skip it 2 times during a single jump but it's on hold now :(
go into a stretching position, tighten your muscle for about 5 seconds, relax the muscle and then go deeper into the stretch. I repeat this about 3 times. on the one hand it streches the muscles and it warms them up at the same time. after a practice I usually feel to cold to strech. my muscles are certainly warm, but outside I just feel cold. at the moment its freezing here anyway;-)
how is your ankle? great ina bauer! you have open hips, don't you? I have closed ones and I can just dream of these beautiful ina bauer and spread eagle positions...
your leg is really high up!;-) if you would lower your upper body so that it would be parallel to the floor/ice, you would probably get it up even further. can you hold it in that position without the help of your hand?
Thank you!my ankle is recovering but now its in the slow phase. the first 10 days was the fastest phase.still, no jumps or backspins :(
my hips were naturally 180 degrees open.I never knew it was something very useful for skating when i first started.currently my back muscles and leg muscles arent strong enough to hold my leg that high without the support of my hand but definitely, that is my goal in the next few years.
lol as soon as you lifted your leg for the off ice spiral the light went on ahahaa
