Seems like there are two 1984 versions. This one is not as smooth. A little more bare and staccato. I disagree with the top-voted comment. I am a huge synthesizer fan and recently bought one -- I think this version has way too much treble to it... it's annoying. Look at the video for "Take On Me (First Version, Rare)" -- I think that version is my favorite.

a-ha gave out 3 different version of take on me before it ended up like the song you know with the famous video - i think their version number 2 only sold 300 copies in the UK - their last version as a singel sold over 6 millions back in the 1985.

Just to make it clear, a-ha made 5 versions of this song in total (and that's including the remixes). The first version was called 'Lesson One', and provided WMG haven't stolen it, you can find it on Youtube. The next one was the 1984 version (this is either the 1984 version or the 1984 extended mix). The third was the extended mix, the fourth was the massive hit that we all know and love and the fifth version was the 1985 remix which is my personal favourite. This is the 1984 one Hope I helped!

I don't think a ha cares if we argue they are still putting out music today. i grew up in the 80 and i loved the music then, some of its crap i know. but i like a ha and remember this is the idea of a young kid from norway who never listend to music like this before and its the first draft. so lets just get a grip. if your 13 or 30 its fun music and we love aha.

Man, this brings back memories... I'm almost 26, and I was like... 2 when this song came out. It's all about the products of the '80's and '90's. Talk about rich music. Then again, things were more emotional then, as opposed to now.
