  • whats the name of the song????

  • Greenland is not a member of United Nation

  • @photolitherland

He was trying to save his boat... And he lived...

  • i remember that

  • @Phonologie

Me 2 vividly... I was there...

  • Greenland is so pretty.

  • It's nothing compared to that which occurred at Ilulissat. Check this link - Ilulissat, Greenland - Giant rolling Iceberg creates a tsunami like wave

  • he was in the wrong place at the right time

  • goto my channel for a segment on interviewing Canadians on greenland )

  • 0:45 - 49 RIP Boat

  • My God....did anyone get hurt in all that?

  • @JetMechMA one got missing.. a few got hurt

  • @JetMechMA the man at :47 in the bottom left hand corner :(

  • @Jadab4u22 Believe it or not I'm pretty sure you can see that guy get thrown on shore and his head comes up under his own power. I bet he was banged up pretty good though.

  • @JetMechMA Yeah, with all of that debris in the water. Good thing he was close to shore.

  • @Jadab4u22 Yeah, right at :58 you can see him riding the hull of his overturned boat as it sorta gets pulled back out with the backwash. Strong dude. He's a tough one.

  • ive watched many glacier vids with big waves from big glaciers but how can such a "small" glacier make such a big wave???

  • @killa00playit the exposed part of the glaciers i´ts not even the half of it, the major part of the icebergs are under water

  • this happened from huge chunks of ice falling into the water

  • @kellnoor

    ORLY?

Wow your so smart to have known that -facepalm-

  • maybe the Ocean World is hitting back after the amount of Whale hunting we do!

  • As for the People of the United States of America, we sincerely keep you in our thoughts and prayers during this challenging time. Please know that the vast majority of us normal people who reside in the USA have only good intentions towards the Japanese people, and not to let a few sadistic a-holes taint the image you have us our people.

Although we also have our share of mindless trolls, we do care very much about you and your country's recovery through this natural disaster.

    Shameful trolls

  • @KE4RWS hear! hear! (hoor! hoor! in afrikaans)

  • @KE4RWS this happened in greenland ,but nice comment anyways :~)

  • @ixshotz Yeah, I realized it after I left the comment, but I mean it just the same. I had been looking through several natural disaster video's and it's hard to not offer at least a kind word to people who are going through this, regardless of where it is.

There's so many people who comment negatively at times that it's just nice to compliment people when you can :)

  • "hope the tsunami did away with ALL the whaling ships"

It's too bad all the self-righteous assholes in the USA think they are holy enough to even open their big mouths about stuff like this. And that's some nerve they have to say ANYTHING after the performance they've been putting on over the last decade around the globe. Then these assholes are gonna talk about whaling ships?

This is so typical of Americans to open their mouths about this during a time when people need help.

    Assholes.

  • @KE4RWS I fucking agree with you.

  • @KE4RWS It sickens me when people have to take a whole nationality and drag them through the mud. I don't give a shit what nationality you are, I guarantee you there are good and bad in each and every nationality out there. Now, that being said.... shut your f'ing mouth.

  • Is it just me or does it seem like on almost every video of a tsunami the people are watching it?

  • crap anchors

  • Damn Nature, You Scary!

  • OMG im pretty sure thats when global warming started, Feb 1995. And if im not mistaken it had something to do with the way oil prices kept rising uncontrollably to an all time high of $50 a barrell per lb, leading on to desert storm 2, the one nobody heard about.

    Im totally cereal...

  • @bobsboobies "You're super cereal!"

  • When you translate it literally, maybe. But noone says " Oh!!! there is coming a harbor wave". Idiot.

  • thumbs up if you saw the man in the bottem left hand corner at 0:47

  • on the boat

  • @LtdMounir yeah he got owned!

im not trying to be rude i hoped he survived!

  • @shortround551 pure man... :(

  • @shortround551 That guy had to shit himself

  • @shortround551 ahhh dude he got swallowed by that water!

  • @shortround551 Good spot

  • Tsunami means "big wave", doesn't matter thay it happens. Idiot.

  • @kyxyzy No, it means harbor wave, you dumb f**k!

  • chuck norris must have farted in the ocean by accident

  • @iEnjoiPnoy No offense but the Chuck Norris jokes are seriously becoming Uber Lame!

  • @PoutinePete Don't let Chuck Norris hear you say that...

  • @PoutinePete The guy who used the word Uber called someone else lame, haha

  • any deatjh?

  • @DaBombastic7

    None...

  • Bummer

  • It did not wash inland, This is more of a big wave or possibly a tidal wave than a tsunami, Either way...cool to look at, sucks to be there.

  • @guitartec not all tsunamis go inland some just hit the coast and damage the coast but don't go inland

  • @charliec4100 Cool, thanks for clarifying.

I'm wondering, however, if this event was even a tsunami at all. Wikipedia says a tsunami is a series of waves known as a "wave train" caused by a large displacement of water. This was simply one large splash wave. Of course, we all know how reliable wiki is, so?

  • @guitartec wikipedia is correct a tsunami is a series of waves however some times a tsunami is just one wave

  • Comment removed

  • talk about a bad day

  • Was anyone hurt by this?

  • 0:41 the boat gets a nice floater....

    WOW!

  • This is not a Tsunami. A Tsunami is caused by an earthquake or volcanic eruption. This is just a small wave caused by water displacement from something being added to the water (crashing glacial ice).

  • Comment removed

  • @shaldana it is a tsunami tsunamis don't have to be big to

cause mass damage and tsunamis are not just caused by earthquakes and volcanic eruptions

  • @shaldana not only ,also by sliding of tons of materials in sea usually partial sliding of piece of island,or ice ,as here but technically is a small tsunami

  • @shaldana a tsunami can happen after a big land slide into the water u dumb dick suck

  • I think...the people there were really pissed of this day :)

  • That's not a Tsunami, just a big fucking wave.

  • @PoppingSanta it is a tsunami

  • @charliec4100

No, a tsunami is caused by an earthquake.

  • @PoppingSanta a tsunami can be caused not just by

    a earthquake

  • @charliec4100

No, a Tsunami is caused by an earthquake way out in the sea, by a comet landing in the sea or by a water vulcano's eruption.

Not by an Iceberg rolling over -.-

  • @PoppingSanta a tsunami can be caused by a iceberg rolling over

80% of a iceberg is underwater and 20% is above the water

so if a iceberg rolls over the large part of the iceberg underwater

will move which will sumtimes cause a large displacement of water which

    will cause a tsunami

  • @charliec4100

It ain't a fucking Tsunami, end of story.

  • @PoppingSanta no tsunamis are caused by displacement of water. EQ displaces water..Volcano droppings displace water..and so do Large chunks of icebergs displacing water. ANY Large amount of water displacement can result in huge tsunamis.

  • @fuckernameme

    Okay I give in.

You're probably right BUT I just go after what my teachers tell me.

    Have a good one.

  • Damn did you see that one boat get get hit by the wave??

  • thanks for the video

  • Not actually a tsunami is it you bullshitting twat

  • @councilglasses it is a tsunami

  • what song is that?

  • where did you download these video

  • veyr impressive, I was working in antarctica last winter and something similar hapened when a glacier calved. I was in the water near the beach with my zodiac and I sped away towards deeper water and I only felt a lump on the water, if I hadnt reacted I would have been crushed like the boats in that video

  • just a litttleeeee tooo close

  • Ouch.

  • I wonder if that water is cold =/

    (sarcasm)

  • totally surfable chop hop over the boats layback at the end....interesting takeoff

  • That is one sweet pointbreak too bad it closed out

  • Foorene->This is in Uummannaq, North of Ilulissat - read the other posts.

I was there as a police officer and on duty that night. No one was injured but a lot of boats were destroyed as you can see. Unfortunately the insurance did not cover as they claimed "force majeure".

In fact, I'm still a police officer in Uummannaq.

  • freaky

  • proper pants shyter

  • Greenland has people living on it?

  • @TheBassguy1 ...fail

  • @foorene ...language fail. your skill is not enough

  • wow, the boats looked like toys in a pool :S, amazing power!

  • Makes you think about what the Storegga megaslides must have done to coastal communities back then.

  • That water is near freezing point :O

  • Damn! you all see the dude on the boat in the bottom left hand corner at :48?

    Poor guy :(

  • Time to put on the old trunks and go out and bail out your boat. And then go have a hot cup of coffee!

  • The danger factor is always at the highest level at the best fishing grounds.

  • wow i saw him too on 48 poor guy i feel sorry for him

  • increible, esa ola por lo menos tiene 12 o 13 metros

  • i hope the guy on the boat was alright

  • 0:48 in the lower left hand corner there is someone on a boat.

  • @Catstalker666 at 48 seconds yeah? i saw him to, he would of gotten pumped

  • need a beach boy cver song!

  • Tsunami Archive Research Status / Date: August 1995, Afternoon / Location: Harbour of Uummannaq, Greenland (checked per Satellite) / Contact: Yes / Copyright: Known / Video ID: T-I-0 / Description: This is the second wave one hour after the first one. Nobody died, nobody was injured.

  • I thought only eskimos lived in greenland with their sleds and igloos.

  • Holy crap! That is bad. This must happen a lot though in Greenland. Kudos to those boat owners whose anchors held!

  • that is a ball sucker! crazy shit

  • lol. that poor guy at :47. that must be some cold water.

  • I hope nobody was on those boats.

  • @thaispix

actually at about :48 you can see a person on the boat. no joke.

  • I have been reading some of the posts below and really find it all silly. We all want to be part of something bigger than ourselves. Humans are a small part of Earths history. And long after we are gone, the earth will not even know we were here. We couldnt do anything to harm this planet. Get over it.....losers.

  • The ignorance of the science behind global warming/cooling here is shocking. This is a serious issue affecting us all. It really shows that a little knowlege is dangerous.

My advice? Don't argue with the experts if you really don't know the subject that well.

Modern society gives people the idea they can have expert opinions on everything. Well, you can't - especially when your "knowlege" comes from the odd news article and the crap spewed out by those with intersts like politicians/business.

  • @TheRealRedAce Yeah. There are a lot of scientists who agree with global warming but people have to remember that its a theory, not a law. There are a lot of scientists who say that its a natural cycle and there are some who say its because of us. Me personally i think its natural. There is evidence of global warming dating back before cave men were around and i find it hard to believe animals were driving around in hummers and private jets causing it. But people will believe what they believe.

  • Global warming can occur naturally, but we contribute, so are either causing it where there wouldn't be any, or making natural warming worse. It's not a matter of belief or faith or opinion, it's cold hard fact. No amount of people in denial will change the truth of that. You can't vote on reality.

It seems that global warming can trigger a new ice age. That may sound odd but each ice advance was preceeded by a short period of sharp warming.

  • By less then 4% we're contributing.

  • Actually, its more than that, and any percentage we contribute is a percentage above normal.

  • Virginityrocks: You really don't have any knowlege to back up the crap you're talking.

You obviously haven't seen the way glaciers have melted over the last 4 decades. I have.

It pisses me off when guys like you with little or no knowlege argue against the evidence and the facts and the experts who have studied the subject properly, like you think you know everything. You're just arrogant. At least try to have some factual basis for what you're saying, not just totally uninformed opinions.

  • Glaciers melting? Hmmm Funny The Anarctic Ice shelf just keeps getting bigger and bigger.

  • WTF? where on earth did you read that?

The current loss from the Antarctic ice shelf is about 36 cubic miles per year!

This comes from data from NASA provided to Enviromental studies dept at University of Colorado.

I'v been to Antarctica nad Greenland and seen and researched the enormous loss of glaciers and ice shelves myself.

  • Well it's funny becuase I was readng a News article saying how it grew largely from 51-01. Quiet a large bit. Hmmmmm..... Also the earth went throught Glboal Warming and Cooling without I don't see how we contribute more than a cruddy 4%.

  • You believe all news articles? They are often inaccurate or politically biased. I trust my own eyes and my department's research which I have taken part in.

  • No. I don't. I've been to Northern Newfoundland. It's jsut Ice cracking and since Oceans itself are warmer then air it melts. Plus most of the contribution is from the big daddy star (Sun). NASA even said planets besides earth are getting warmer.

  • I've visited and studied the ice retreat over decades. It isn't just cracking, it's disappering. This is valley ice, not in the sea. I've stood in empty valleys in Greenland that were hundreds of feet under ice 40 years ago. Also, the glaciers are almost gone from New Guinea over the last few decades.

The sun's output has not altered (apart from the usual small regular variations) over the last 20 years- that is a matter of record. But the ice is still going away at an ever faster rate.

  • yeah i think your right, im gonna take your word over every scientist ever to study global warming. I sure hope your not...FULL OF SHIT.

  • These fox news tea baggers believe anything they hear. So sad

  • just keep watching FOX news, "Fair and Unbiassed"

  • WOW amazing stuff its like Judgement Day or something, get well out the way of that, the main danger is collision with all the flotsam and jetsam.

  • oh crap there's a guy on the boat at :48 in the lower left corner.

  • @starchaser28 Holy shit dude! I didn't catch that before. Hope he was ok.

  • @starchaser28

Yes.. but at :49 there isn't a guy on the boat, so it's ok.

  • @starchaser28 dam even more amazing is how he stays on the boat after the hit

  • There is someone on the boat when a wave hits it :(

  • This is a sign of global warmin for you non believers... all the proof you need..

  • @statecivileng22

proof that global warming is bullshit, all the snow we had in europe this year.

Not that i don't believe in global warming, but your comment is trying to accompany a tiny little event to be proof of a theory that should show much larger effects.

  • That peice of ice is evidence of global warming.. You can be a conservative bitch from france all you want.. but we liberals in a America follow our leaders anywhere they lead us..

  • Yeah you go do that, follow your liberal country of blinding ignorance.

I'm half American half Dutch and somehow you think that by saying Europe i'm French. I fucking hate the french, their government is exploiting money from the dutch citizens to pay for themselves.

Wow, you go be an uneducated liberal cunt for all i care.

Do you even know what liberals are, they are fighters for freedom, and following a leader around isn't exactly Liberalism you uneducated twat.

  • That piece of ice is evidence of global warming? What are you fucking 12? Ice melts every spring and refreezes in the winter. Do you actually believe that the Arctic is frozen 365 days of the year? Eskimo have drawings and legends dating back over 8,000 years that depict swimming, boating, and collecting plants. Why would the Inuit possess the kayak if there was no liquid water to travel over? Dear god... (other readers), some people are so fucking retarded.

  • Please my misinformed conservative fool.. Inuits went south to play in the water now they are dying bc they have no ice.. just like the polar bears they are goin extinct..

  • ...

  • See you didnt know that, so you go stick you head up Bush's ass fucktard

  • ...

  • Republicans always get silenced what a fag... you all cant even debate if shit stinks..

  • ...

  • Yes!!! These dots are giving me orgasms!!

  • Keep talking. You're making my point more valid.

  • You make my point more valid republican faggit

  • wow what a big guy! talking shit on youtube!! using Big words like (Faggit) lol

  • @molomono

Snow in Europe IS proof of global warming. Warming forces the gulf stream further south. Gulf stream is all that makes Europe temperate, rather than subarctic. Look at the latitude of Europe on a globe.

It may sound strange, but global warming will actually make Europe colder.

  • Who cares. Global warming predictions are based on the assumption that natural gas and coal are sustainable and will continue to be used and used as at exponentially greater rate within the next 200 years, while it is apparent that natural gas and coal will NOT even be a viable option within the next 50. We will have to convert to greener sources, whether we want to or not. Global warming is NOT an issue, especially considering it's been 50 years and we've only increased temperature by 0.4 F

  • Actually, you can find it a bit confusing that al gore's special chart has fundamental errors.. and theToba catastrophe theory contradicts global warming.. why would this event of ash and CO2 with other gases cause global cooling? It dont add up..

  • @statecivileng22

Global cooling resulting from volcanic eruption is caused by aerosols of sulphur compounds in the upper atmosphere, not ash or C02.

C02 levels produced by man cause arctic melting of permafrost. This in turn releases vast quantitities of methane which is a far worse global warming gas than C02. Thus, even a small global warming can produce a self-reinforcing runaway effect. It has happened before without man's help, just by small changes in the sun's output.

  • That is true, but the temperature that we had this year in Europe especially Britain and Holland is exactly that of 20 years ago.

So you can say its related to the gulf stream, but is the gulf stream related to global warming directly?

No, i highly despise the thought that global warming can change the whole climate of Europe in just 1 year.

    That's fucking impossible.

Don't get me wrong though, i do believe in global warming, but i also believe in exaggeration.

  • There are always variations. This is the coldest winter I remember for many years, but when I was a child, ALL winters were colder than this one.

I don't think it can happen in a day, but the last ice age started and ended in a very short time. There is some evidence to show ic age conditions can begin over one year, though it takes a while for glaciers to accumulate.

Gulf stream warms europe but does so far less in conditions of global warming, because it moves further south.
