  • i love this scene

  • i love pete's character his a good person but he just doesn't know how to show it

  • Pete's sense of entitlement trips him up throught the whole series.

  • you go girl! lol low key i would have gave into him

  • LOL! Pete was kinda seductive there for a few seconds, but I'm glad Peggy put him in his place because technically that was workplace harassment, despite their secret relationship.

  • I just started watching the show. And I can't stand that douchebag. Pete just seems like someone I would like to punch in the face. I don't know wtf peggy slept with that SOB...

  • She had Pete's child and gave it away as was explained at the end of season 2.

  • I couldn't see the whole thing because "The Secret Millionaire" was on the other chanel at the same time.

    .

But I managed to see the near end of the series where this lady tells this guy that she could have made him suffer; that he had had a son by her whom she had given up for adoption about a year previously.

    .

I will get it on Torrent in the middle east and watch the whole thing when I am on vacation.

    .

    cheers.

  • LOL " you're not being professional" , he shouldn't be saying that when peggy IS being professional.

  • Let us all enjoy this great series... My friend is the producer and he loves working the series!!!!!

  • The show's a complete pack of lies. Liberal propaganda, A rewrite of social history to fit their leftist agenda. My father worked for corporations in the 60s, my mother was in the secretarial pool at J&J and both say that they never experienced anything like this dishonest portrayal of life in that era. Everyone was married, raising children and struggling. No time for affairs -- NO PILL!. Any office hanky-panky especially out in the open, was grounds for IMMEDIATE dismissal -no questions!

  • Your parents experience speaks for themselves. I heard both this and the opposite. But what do you mean with "no pill?"

  • Dear Dreg.,

Who knows what she means; she is reporting something that her parents told her when she was young and perhaps unable to distinguish fact from ficton or cencorship to a minor etc.

    .

No Pill reminds me that at that moment in time all women became the equivalent of homosexual-passive-men, their rendering their reproductive systems in part as the homosexuals arse.

    .

    A great step for woman-kind !

    cheers.

  • Sorry your experience is based on your parents. I have

been living all my life in a family in the Ad world/Marketing.... it has been like this since for ever! Cheating has been a deplorable thing all along our time... History has shown! Love and war. Please don't be upset with the crude reality of our existance! Thank God we have had a woman's right movement... if not... Mad Men would be our life NOW!

  • Umm I am quite sure office "hanky-panky" did occur at this time, as it has occurred throughout the ages since Cleopatra and the Roman times - although probably not so blatantly or gratuitously, this is an American TV show after all. Just because your parents didn't experience it themselves doesn't mean it didn't happen...

  • wow you really think your parents told u all about what happend in their jobs. And u also think that everyone that was working in those day are actually pictured by mad men like if they wanted to show 'the everyday job of everyone in the 60's' You're just another naive person. living in a fake world.

  • That's interesting. The show is billed as being socially authentic. You say it's not. You are probably right. I don't know too much about the early 60's.

I do, however, have accurate memories of the 1970's. There is a show called "That 70's Show." I can tell you that that is thoroughly inauthentic. Yes, they get the clothing styles, etc. correct. But attitudes and behavior are completely out of place. The writers just use the show as a propaganda platform.

  • for what exactly?

  • No time for affairs? This is naive thinking. Man has been having affairs since the dawn of society.

  • Did they work in the advertising! Advertising then and now is the most sexist business around! And this stuff, though fictional, could have happened. So don't go around generalizing things unless you've experienced it!

  • Maybe your parents dont feel comfortable telling you and each other about their affaires.

  • Does Pete know about "the cargo" that Peggy is carrying?

  • Peggy is one of my favorite characters, even though she is not the best looking one if anyone cares; she is so honest and she truly is great at her job!-now that she isn't Don Draper's assistant anyone!

  • The actress is really pretty as a blonde.

  • WHY DOES THIS SHOW HAVE AN OFF SEASON!?! i miss it

  • pete a jerk and peggy a smart girl not to be with someone like pete.

  • She was with him, in the laying in a biblical sense; she tells him at the very end of the series.

    .

She may be smart aposteriori -like we mostly all are.

  • The clip is low quality, but see his eyes lite up when he spots her. He's getting a thrill out of talking w/her, even when it's negative. She's trying to ignore him, but he's going out of his way to be a pain & verbally sidesteps the real issue of his internal conflict by making out like she's the one being unprofessional. She's not taking his flak - so he attacks. Such a well written/acted scene. Pete's got as much denial about his feelings for her as Peggy has about her pregnancy!

  • I love Peggy, so strong so independent.

  • You're kidding right? She's as malleable as clay.

  • I always enjoy Pete and Peggy scenes. They have great chemistry -- even when they're fighting.

  • i just started watching this show i only watch it because pete is angel's son on angel is pete the father of peggy's baby?

  • And later he and his wife will adopt the baby that actually he "fathered". Got it?

  • does Peggy remind anyone else of Pam from The Office?

  • I love this show...Pete is such a little nerdy ass---great acting! The best thing about being sick a few months ago was I started watching this show when they had the first season marathon on....it must be a great show because it's not doing well in the ratings...only shows that require no thinking and are ridiculous do well in the ratings : (

    Drives me crazy...

  • I think the reason the ratings are so low is because of what network the show is on. I didn't even know AMC had its on original series. I think if Mad Men was on a network like FX or HBO its ratings would be higher.

  • No Peggy is not similar to Don at all, got it?

  • where can I find the episode where pete sleeps with peggy for the first time

  • Pete's whole problem is that he is unaware of his own douchebaggery. He says things without realizing that he is offensive, and his ambition only makes him more foolishly brave. It is a sign of immaturity.

But if Peggy (who is arguably a "smart" character with many similarities to Don) finds something appealing about Pete, then he must have some good qualities that will reveal themselves as time goes by.

He would never say it, but Pete cares for Peggy just as much as he cares for himself.

  • douchebaggery. LOL

  • I think also for Pete, Peggy is the woman who can give him complete emotional fulfillment...deep down he wants to be the alpha male and is always having to prove himself to be better than others, but with Peggy he can just be 'Pete' and that's enough.

  • Oh, he totally said it.

  • Interesting insight. The one part where I might disagree is if Pete really does care for Peggy. I think more will have to be revealed before I agree on this. Mostly I wonder if Pete comes back to Peggy simply because it inflates his ego. Obviously there is a sexual desire, but Peggy may just be that other lady.

  • Hey, what happened to my post. It went poof!

Alrighty then, as I said before....

Pete's a prick-wad. I would have loved to take 50 lb. sack of cow manure and smack him and the men in The Sterling Advertising Agency across the Mexican border. They're a bunch of sexist bahsTARDs.

Then again, those scenes with Pete/Peggy together (or seperate) are priceless. Their first meeting was enough to make me laugh and smack Pete at the same time. Brilliant!

I also liked Joani/Orsen Well guy!

  • Ah, Pete/Peggy, you crazy kids. I'm glad she smacked Pete down, but I do so enjoy their scenes and chemistry together.

  • Tell me about. I know Pete's a douche, trust me, I'm well aware of his douchetitude, prick-wad nature but there's something about the character in relation to Peggy (and by himself) that I find fascinating. Try as I might, I can't figure what that's about but yeah...scenes with Pete and Peggy are, literally, to die for.

I also liked Joanie and Orsen Wells look-alike too, and find them to be another interesting paradox but Season 2 is contented with exploring Don Draper's house of cards.

  • This show seems remarkably stupid.

  • ugh, I just want to kick him in the nuts. Pete's a little prick.

  • In my personal opinion, Pete is an asshole.

  • That show is insane.

  • today that sexual harrassment

  • They were already sexually involved, and it was consensual, so no it wouldn't have been sexual harassment.

  • This show is hot,smart,well crafted,etc.

  • Type in The Hobo Code to see when she laid on the couch.

  • I have no clue why i watch this show it absolutely makes no sense at times. I love it.

  • the account executives are all duds, zeros, cyphers, hey roger fire them all and hire seinfeld's old gang.

  • They need to put more lines between Peggy and Pete.

I want Pete to divorce that wife of his, so he and Peggy can be together, so she can show him who can be in charge :)

But if they do, whats going to happen to their baby??

  • I love this scene. It is a succinct demonstration of why and how Peggy worked to turn herself into a no-nonsense person at work, both for herself and expectations of others.

It also goes back to their first meeting where he was mean and thought he was flirting, only this time she lets him know and is not distracted by mixed signals.

  • I wonder if peggy is ever going to tell pete about their baby?

  • Comment removed

  • Draper knows about the baby. Im sure he wont tell.

  • sorry, i tried looking thisd up, but didn't find anything. What's the connection with the writers between this and the Sopranos?

  • Same guy.

  • The series creator was a producer/writer on the Sopraos.

  • Matthew Weiner, creator of Mad Men, got a job as a writer on the Sopranos based on the merits of the Mad Men pilot script.

  • When I saw this on TV, I was waiting for Peggy to slap Pete right across his perfect little face; and leave a nasty mark. He would have had trouble explaining that to Trudy (his wife, if you don't know).

  • i hate pete. he is a total prick. i love peggy's line in this scene, "maybe you need me to lay on your couch to clear that up for you again." LOL

  • I love british tv but a I'm so annoyed everyone across the pond ALREADY knows the ending In blighty there are 3 more to go- I can't wait!

  • Totally Love Pete!! He is the kind of bloke every1 loves 2 hate!! Brilliant series..

  • I love Pete's vandictive, sexiest personality. He is the kind of character u love 2 hate!! I think the acting playing him has done a fantastic job!!

  • may very well be best drama on tv in 20 years. immaculate in every way. rich content and jesus look at the sets.

oh and yeah the rest i won't discuss...cause well...you know.

  • i haven't been watching the show, but what happened to peggy. why did her character get fat? just wondering, i feel very lost.lol

  • She had a fling with Pete, she's gaining weight, put two and two together.

  • Yeah, she had a kid in the season finale.

  • actually when i first watched the series I didn't really notice Peggy getting fat. so i was really surprised when she had a baby. (I missed a couple of episodes.) So when i watched it again I defiantely noticed her getting fat.

  • I'm addicted to this show!!!!

  • Me too~

  • Pete is the perfect machievelian slimeball.

  • That's so true. It's really hard to believe that there were once ...um scewbuddies, lovers and item?

I never liked this couple and i'm glad it's over. But 2 bad Peggy got a big surprise from him!

  • I wanted them to get together, because he obviously is unhappy. But once he said "I don't like seeing you this way" when the office was out dancing I really started to hate him. And he already looked pretty bad considering the cheating, and the other mean comments. Although, it was nice that he punched Cosgrove, but that might not have been because he really cared for Peggy, just that he slept with her and he thought of her as worthy of sleeping with.

  • I think he took what Ken said about Peggy as an insult to himself as much as her. Pete is totally self-centred as well as deeply insecure. He's occasionally sympathetic due to this insecurity and his odd moments of insight and vulnerability - but nothing makes up for the fact he acts like an entitled, backstabbing little prick the rest of the time. I don't *like* his character, but I do see him as among the most complex, interesting and best-written characters on the show.

  • littleblackpistol, you took the words right outta my mouth.

  • I wanted to see them together too because he does like her but he's been so mean to her.

I love that she stood up for herself in this scene.

  • He isn't smart enough to pull that off. He's a weenie whose parents got him that job.

  • "What do you have there--precious cargo?"

Oh, won't you be surprised, Pete! I can't wait until next summer for the second season!

  • this ep was soooo slick i passed out

  • I LOVE that scene! They are so terrific!
