Ahhh, the Nimmitz. The Nimmitz recently came up to Washington. My husband is not stationed on a ship, but our neighbor's husband was on the Nimmitz. The wonderful sailors from the Nimmitz recently got a group of over 30 together to volunteer at the Kitsap County Humane Society. Wonderful people :)

To bad when then they made the Nimitz class they didn't make the super carrier. In the bidding staged for the new ship the super super carrier was 2 and a half the size of Nimitz. The NAVY said cost to much no need for anything bigger, and they made the Nimitz, if it ant broke don't fix it, or change it.

Ahhh, the Nimmitz. The Nimmitz recently came up to Washington. My husband is not stationed on a ship, but our neighbor's husband was on the Nimmitz. The wonderful sailors from the Nimmitz recently got a group of over 30 together to volunteer at the Kitsap County Humane Society. Wonderful people :)

@topwing93 I agree the cuts are hitting the Armed Forces too much. 8% might be in line with other cuts but it's costing our security. The F-35 will be a good aircraft when it comes into service, and a lot of British manufacturers are helping to design, engineer and produce it, so at least that's something. I'd rather take that than buying an aircraft off the shelf.

@topwing93 I'm not, the test flights performance tests have been widely publicised because there is so much at stake on this programme. It's a better design and as such, is more agile. They are able to compute pretty accurately nowadays on computer what a plane will fly like before it's even built. There's always going to be a few surprises when the final product is made because a computer is only as good as the person who operates it, but generally, you can get good enough figures.

@topwing93 The JSF will have a longer service life, is capable to be upgraded in the future just like the F-18 has, got a reduced radar signature, got better agility and is capable of doing a better job. The latest versions of the F-18 are right behind it, but in about ten years time when serious upgrades begin appearing for the JSF, the F-18 will be left behind.

To bad when then they made the Nimitz class they didn't make the super carrier. In the bidding staged for the new ship the super super carrier was 2 and a half the size of Nimitz. The NAVY said cost to much no need for anything bigger, and they made the Nimitz, if it ant broke don't fix it, or change it.
