  • Ahh the age old question, electronic or acoustic drums...

They both have their advantages and (now ) disadvantages. Solution: Buy both! (or many of both) like I did.

Fine drumming, by the way. Steve Gadd is the master of paradiddle grooves.

  • AWESOME! THANKS FOR THIS VIDEO!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Put up a video of RLRR LRLL RLRLRR LRLRLL great riff! Then RLRLRR LRLRLL RLRR LRLRLL RLRLRR. Man you got some chops. thanks.

  • hehehehee paradiddle xD

  • I love my kit too. Worth every penny.

  • I got my roland td 12sk (three cymbals) for 2889 flat. It was right as the new version came out. USA. Online. Its frigan sweet.

  • 1:45 YYZ!!!!

  • oh question is that a...tech kit? or is that even what they are called lol

  • an electronic kit? Yes it is, very high end one running for roughly $5-7000

  • damn bro that shit is crazy ima try to get one

  • Roland just released a new TD-12 for $4000 and a new TD-20 for $7000. You'd might as well save $3k and get the new TD-12, pretty much just as good. Go into your local music store and ask to try them out if you want.

  • its not paradiddle but awesome playing and kit :)

  • Awesome kit!! Thanks for the demo...

  • nice kit awesome drumming

  • legit :D i love your videos

  • Subscribed :D

  • my favorite paradiddle is LLR,LLR,LLR. My left hand is faster than my right, but my right foot is faster than my left. Weird huh?

  • That's not a paradiddle.

  • A single paradiddle is just RLRRLRLL or LRLLRLRR. Nothing else.

  • @tarponsalltheway thats exactly right

  • Comment removed

  • @tarponsalltheway excuse me but... it's technically -Rlrr,Lrll- the accent is is key!

  • Apparently he knows more than you.

  • Yea it is lol there isnt differnet kinds though

  • YES IT IS

  • thats not a paradiddle

  • your not a paradiddle

  • no ur not

  • Thats a drag

  • So I'm going to be practicing paradiddles now! 0_0. FYI - I live in a town home and my practice kit is electric. Its great for recording and not bothering your neighbors. xD

  • electronic drums are better, you can have any sound you want with them, you can move them easier and for a lot of people they're more useful because they're quieter, so there's not as much disruption and stuff like that.

  • atlantor78 is right..wth electric drums, you don't have to spend as much money as you do for an acoustic drumset, spending all that cash on multiple toms, and cymbals. a 10 piece drumset was $1500,,,an acoustic was $2200. The pieces I needed, with the acoustic, equaled over $4500.

  • what would happen if the drummer lived in a apartment building but wanted to play? what is he going to do? try to play soft on a acoustic or play on a electronic and be as loud as he wants?

  • yeah but the sound is never as good as a real drum kit

  • nothing can replace a real drum tho...

  • but everyone knows that real drums are badass

  • Fuck off.

  • the kit doesn't change the drummer. A good drummer is good on any kit, accoustic or electronic.

  • Define a 'real drummer'?

I'm sure he learnt on a 'REAL SET'

  • I've been enjoying your vid clips here. You have an excellent way of breaking things down and making them understandable. Plus you have a good feel and fine technique. Good job! I'm not a professional player but you may get a kick out of the short clips I have on youtube (you can comment if you like - any insights or critiques you have would be appreciated). Just type in "Drummer Richard Gray". Thanks!

  • I'm starting to learn drums, and my friend is a drummer, and you helped us out a good lot. Thanks very much, dude! You're a beast on drums.

  • dude thanks a lot your video is fucking great you explain exactly what we want to know and you play great thanks

  • Lmao Vaseline drum beat.

  • holy shit ur good!!!

  • What a beast! (:

  • how many years have you been playing drums?

  • man i've been doing left,right,left,left,right,left,right,right

  • thats still a paradiddle. your just starting on your left hand as opposed to your right. its all good.

  • ok done well

  • man you are good

  • Awesome Lil Drum Solo At The End There Eggy! :P

  • lol show off

  • Hey man if you bought a 6 Thousand dollar drum kit i want to show off.

  • how long does it take to play like that?

  • Years.

  • Not just the paradiddles, but everything in his video - there's a lot of technique there, not just paradiddles.

And anyway - you should practice paradiddles for years, regardless of how good you are at them. It's the most basic rudiments that are the most useful to a skilled drummer.

  • Before you continue with music, you might wanna look up basic grammar.

  • It gets you a good job. Stops people from hating you. People can understand you.

    That reason enough?

  • its someone's time of the month!

  • wtf!!! sort your life out!!! or fall down some stairs or somthing ;)

  • but it makes more sence and doesnt make you look a redneck buddy :)

  • make a video of just jammin for 10 minute or less i just want to ee you jam cray more

  • the rev from a7x likes paradiddles too. he does them alot in solos. exspecially the beast and the harlot solo.

  • the whole video is awesome but the last improvised bit of drumming made me have to change my pants... what can i say?

  • thats so dirty

  • *clap* *clap *clap* *clap*

  • But the vasoline song is hard with

    un-boucable pad

  • Awesome!

  • So that part in Train Kept a Rollin should be easy for you then.

  • i wanna be as good as you... im starting in peprcussion with this as my first year and this is how good i want to be in a few years

  • hes been playing since 1986

ive been playing for 6 years.

  • You can't get that good in 'a few years'. It took him 23 years to get that good, don't expect to be that good in at the very least, 10 years. Unless you practice 24/7. Literally.

  • great exercise!

  • paradiddles is rlrrlrll

  • whats it called when you RRLRRLRRLRRLRRLRR

  • thats a variation on a paradiddle i sometimes do RLRRLRRLRLRRLRRLRLRR...

  • Neil Peart is pronounced Neil PERT.

  • People can pronounce it however they want..

  • Yea, well if you went to a Rush concert and called him Neil Peart like he said it you'd sound like a moron. Just sayin'.

  • This is awesome. Perhaps you could make some more instructional videos?

  • Juste a question How much cost your V-Drum

  • GOOGLE IT

  • depending on the set they can go from AU$1600 - AU$20000

  • that little part fromm yyz you said was awsome, i want to learn that song now. lol

  • how do you have the good sound quality i tape my drum session and it sounds like crap from the camera

  • Electronic drum set, he probably has it connected directly to his computer.

  • wow that was amazing I do not play drums but this guy makes me want to get a job just to buy a drum set lol just amazing

  • Dude u have to be awsome at yyz on rb

  • you should definatly start thinking about doing some cover videos

  • Were you listenning to the video at all? Listen to the part at 2:25 he mentions that.

  • That beat at the end was frickin sweet!

  • lol u play every single instrument...kinda insane!!

  • the last part was just insane

  • that's a 6500 dollar drum set...holy !@#$

  • that vasoline part was amazing

  • not really hard well depends on if your a drummer or not

  • its not hard by any means, i just thought it was cool

  • Well, technicly flams are two separate notes. They're just really close together.

  • hey man can you do more tutorial vids?

  • all i have to say is..

    subscribed..

  • you should do more tutorial videos!

  • Damn you are good at drums too..I also play the drums too.But I don't know if I will be good st rock band. But all my friends have told me to just wait and get rock band 2.

  • but if u want money you play rock band

  • i agree

  • true that im buying the band kit

  • honestly, drums are way better on rock band in my opinion, but still fun on ghwt

  • ghwt and rb2's setlist arent that different...

  • except rb2 does not have hot for teacher witch i want them to bring to rb2

  • gh4 does

  • you would be a good speed metal drummer and i got my electric drum kit

  • i can never keep my high hat hand coordinated when trying to play vasoline on real drums not rock band

  • thanks man alot i have been offered to play at shows and i dont get enough practice from the noice level the neighbors don't like good music accept me friend invite too

  • i have an important question for the electric drum set can you do double bass and 2 does it sound good like a real drum set im thinking about buying one

  • yes, i have a double bass pedal on this set. works great. i've got the bass drum head kinda loose, like i like it on an acoustic set. these V-drums have real drum heads on them so you can tune them any way you want and they have great bounce. the sound is the best there is for an electronic kit, but it's still noticeably "synthetic" sounding compared to acoustic kit... still, i recommend the TD-20's if you're in the market for electronic drums.

  • I love Roland's normal pads, but I can't stand the mesh heads. they have that feeling of "almost there, but not quite" that bugs me. I also don't really like their brains. oh well. different strokes.

  • YEAH VASOLINE

  • i love paradiddles...my speed is 250 bpm...HHS Tenors bby yeaaaaaa

  • hey has rockband he battled Ibiteprettyhard

  • not rockband konsco

  • That was the shit.

  • wow, this acutally helped a lot, thanks!

  • lol i remember first learning this shit.

  • omg thanks man this helped alot you rock

  • Thanks for posting this!

The snare of the e-drums are just.."electric".

You can´t exactly get a "real" sound out of the e drums, thats why it´s called an Electric Drum :P

  • thanks for making the video. i actually suggested a video like this a few months ago. you said you would try to make it. i was afraid you couldnt. nice. thanks.

  • a snare sounds almost exactly like that.

  • I guess he never heard the sound of a quality snare.

  • there is a wide range of different sounds a quality snare can have depending on the drum head and how you tune it (if you're a drummer you would know this.) usernamepoophand doesn't like the sound of this one, and that's fine. no need to get worked up about the fact that people have different taste.

  • Yes please. My english SUCKS!

  • OMG THANK YOU ALOT!!! I play real drums for a half year now and you learn me alot;)

  • ^now on to learn some proper english >:3

  • I'm gonna laugh for a month just because you said that. haha

  • said wut

  • My comment was a reply to Los Illuminados's comment about the other guy needing to learn english

  • this has been helpful. thanks!

  • very cool video, for the drumming nub like myself

  • wow ur good hown long have u been playin

  • thanks! i started playing in 10th grade which was 1986. So, about 22 years, but i pretty much took the last 10 years off, so really only 12 years, I guess.

  • wow, u've got alot of experience. i was always wondering wat our lead drummer at church was talkin about when he said the word "Paradiddle". now i feel smarter. lol

  • I use those same sticks for rockband. lol

  • enjoyed the vasoline cover :)

  • Very cool, 5/5! Bring the rock band videos!

  • Hey, I use Stick Control regularly, and it's the main book I use with my students as well. Even my drum teachers taught me with that book years ago.

Anyway, how's the RB setup comin along? We want to see you assault the leaderboards!

  • oh that's cool. I had wondered if it was a popular book for real, or just in my world ;) yeah, it's amazing how simplistic the book is, yet so useful. I'm still waiting on the "XIM2" hardware. I think it's almost in beta. I'm looking forward to playing RB on MIDI pads. I know I'll have a definite advantage at that point but I still don't think I have enough "perfectionism" (is that a word?) in me to beat scores from the likes of you... haha.. but i will try!

  • parradidles are sweet double strokes are easy once u get used to them
