  • Me hubiera encantado ser el operador maquinista de esta locomotora. / I wish to had been the engineer of this locomotive.

  • its a good thing that peoplem take care of old stuff like this train thanks to everybody who helped

  • Anyone know where this A and B unit are now? I heard they took them to Sacramento Railroad Museum's shop, because of ongoing vandalism. However, I have not been able to find out what happened to them since.

  • I first came to California from Joliet, IL on the Super Chief in 1964. While living in Sacramento, I often went to admire and pay homage to the loco that embodies my first trip. The museum is one of the best.

  • 347C plus the 'B' unit, same numbers when owned by the Santa Fe and currently in a California museum. Unsure if the prime movers are operational or not yet.

  • They were operational when given to the California State Railroad Museum

  • What year did you film this?

  • 1995 ....

  • That's recent. Woah I didn't think this train design in particular still existed. 90% of them disapeared from the face of the US and Canada in the 70s and 80s.

  • @JohnBachofer John, good news is that there are still a good number of EMD F-units still in existence. Some in museums but a number of them still operating on tourist trains in various states including Georgia, North Carolina, Illinois, and California.

  • Wow I miss the Super Cheif! I never saw them but the thing is that they're the new KCS F7's sadly

  • The KCS F`s are ex Canadian National units.

  • That is not true, the ones in California are real Santa Fe locos.

  • Did they ever start the engine

  • what are the cab numbers

  • 347

  • I got to ride the SuperChief a couple of times prior to 1971. What a rush to see the Santa Fe F7 come barreling down the tracks and stop to let us on. The porters were so friendly. Back then people talked of a simpler time with Steam locomotives. I guess that is a lesson to appreciate what you have before it is gone.

  • I was out west in the 70s. Probably 1973. Sleeping on the hood of the car cause the

engine was warm...About daybreak I wake up

to blaring horns and look up to see two

SuperChief F7s meet and pass. It was awesome.

I was 14 or 15 years old. Loved trains even back then!

  • Beautiful

  • Glad these classics were saved. The F7A doesn't run, but doesn't it still have its 567 series diesel inside the carbody?

  • yes the f7 still runn......

  • THE A UNIT HAS NO MOTOR,,,

  • unexpected XD gotta lov superchief

  • Those locomotive are actually still running!

  • Esos Santa Fe F7's es apenas absolutamente magnifico.
