I'm trying to decide too, and if this is true I'd prefer the combo so that I can play it not too loud at home or bring just the amp when I practice with the band (connecting it to the PA) using the cabinet at the gigs..

I'm thinking of getting one of these sometime soon, but first I'd like to know if it would be suitable for playing metal on (In Flames, Arch Enemy, Metallica, etc) or would it need some kind of boost? And if so, would a Boss DS1 do the job or would it sound crappy? Sounds good from what I've heard though. Nice playing by the way

all it means is that when you plug headphones into the jack, it emulates the qualities of a 1x12 or a 4x12 instead of just giving you the sound of the preamp. it makes for a fuller, more realistic amp tone through the headphones.
