i race at Erbsville ontario and we go to Mosport a couple times a year, and i had a similar fire here, but it wasn't as big, it was kind of a mini version of this.

im not sure whats going on with this fire it shouldent have happened because karts use only alchol for fuel this fire is burning red alchol burns blue in the day light you cant see it burning, thats a gas fire, the rules say no gas only alchol, all clubs have the same rules in the united states thats is, i raced go karts for 30 years all over the united states, IKF AND CIKA & WKA all have the same rules,

@david1513 um idk WHAT rulebook your looking at but only FOURSTROKE classes mandate alcohol, two stroke classes run gasoline. WAKE UP and smell the fumes.

i am awake i race go kart for 30 years we raced formula karts two stroke engines alchol only no gas, fire marshals won't alow a event useing gas, the fumes travel to the crouds from the heat and the fumes don't stop, before this ruleings people use to get burned bad, fire would run for miles till it burned out, most all two strokes use alcohol,

@david1513 EXCEPT THE BIGGEST CLASSES OF TAGS AND KT100S, formulas ARE THE ONLY 2 strokes that are allowed to run gas.

oh and the briggs world formula, and the yamaha f200 and the honda gx200 and the honda clone class. you must have raced kart 15 years ago

@garrittpwl yes it was quite some time ago when i raced i started back in 1974 just after the viet nam war,i worked for the poilce department then, i ran BM SS 96 TT"s rotery valve engines thay burned only methanol and nito methane and klots oil, we called it the la mello formula, i cought on fire once with this fuel you don't know your burning till its far to late, in the day light you can't see it burn because the oil klots doesent burn, im sure the rules have changed by now im far to old now

@garrittpwl im not sure where this track is that the go kart burned up but im sure its not in the united statesWKA IKF rules wouldent have alowed that fire to burn that long it would have been put out almost at once,

I'd imagine this was a TAG kart and the onboard starter or battery sparked the fire.

Suprising to me that they reused the frame. Seems like the heat would aneal the metal and make it soft.

@MrJslade You might want to studdy your heat treatment book again because it would quench the steel making it harder but more brittle. It takes hours to properly aneal steel.

Well I am no expert, but I know what hapens when you heat a peace of steal and let it cool slowly. Now mabey the fire extinguisher cooled it fast enough to harden it but who really knows. Either way it seems like a bad idea.

You should move the track a little closer to the two 10,000 gallon PROPANE TANKS just behind the BURNING FLAMING BALL OF GASOLINS AND PLASTIC.

i dought the flames would reach it unless it blew up....over my 2 years of racing karts and winning champoinship twice including tonight lol....iv only seen a kart on fire once....and it was because of stupidy....

ohh on how the person wasent thinking? lol the belt on the kart broke and he was reving it even thowe he wasent moving....when u aint revving and ur on the gas then u should stop giving it gas because the gas will proberly over flow and cacth a spark and then caboof....ur on fire lol....my belts broke before but i just gassed it a little....lol.....i wasent on the gas all the way lol.....

when about 400 pounds of another kart SLAMS into the back of the buring cart...things happen. most of them run alcohol

The kart was someone elses, the driver just drove it for him. It was actually scrubbed clean and repainted and used later the same year. We've raced with Hamilton a few times with Mosport Kart Club, thats pretty cool.

Three guys got kinda tangled up on the track and this guy got his engine knocked off from behind. I guess the spark from the engine plus the leaking gas caused an explosion! The end!
