Abraham Lincoln was not AGAINST slavery where it already existed. In fact the Emancipation Proclamation would have allowed those states that were not already under "North" control or "border states" to keep their slaves had they simply stopped fighting the Civil War. Slavery was just "1" issue that the war was about: States Rights vs. Federal Control was the more MAJOR dispute between the North and South.....
