@CharlieXray19Red Thanks for the info Charlie, I tried a few times last year and miss by 5 or 4 questions so I believe I'm almost there; I can use some practice before I go to the real one that way I can narrow my chances.
Good luck with the General test & hope the Hustler 6BTV vertical trap antenna works out well for you. As I am sure you are already aware, a good ground radial system is quite important for the best performance from that vertical. I live in an apartment and use indoor dipoles for 40, 20 & 17 meters and a 10 and 6 meter dipole on my apartment balcony whic his only 15 feet off the ground. My apartment regulations does not allow outdoor antennas. I use a Yaesu FT-950 HF rig. 73, Bill, KI7F
I have 2 radials for 40 and 2 for 20 meters only, so I still need to work a bit more on that.
I did tried 2 times the General and fail so I kind of loss my interest on that for now.
I've got involve on Ecolink so I got me a signalink USB interface and created a local link with my 897 as the base and my 817 on my mobile so as you can see I've being busy anyway and put general on the side for now.
I did try two times the general test but unfortunately I fail, so I kind of loss my interest on it, FOR NOW, I will go back to it study and try until I pass it.
I remember a month a go 6 meters being open, I actually made 2 QSOs from my mobile 817, so it was fun, too bad the band is so sporadic and spends more time closed than open.
@LAGARTIJOcabezon Things are going to begin really improving on the bands this winter, I think. We're getting those sunspots at last. You'll have a hell of a lot of fun if you do pass that exam, so I wish you luck with it.
@LAGARTIJOcabezon Ah, no problem! Thanks for the Echolink info, but I'm strictly radio, sorry. It'd certainly be great to QSO on one of the higher bands when you get that General Class, though. Good luck !
shame on you...

Did you pass your general class exam? 6 metres has been open as always, in the summer sporadic-E season.

Hope you do well with the General class test.
I think you will find that the ground mounted vertical will not perform all that well.
Low verticals in suburban locations tend to be noisy , and lossy due to nearby building and vegetation obstructions.
