I would use fuel customs. Its a 8 ply filter way better keeping mud and water out. I also use the prefilter. I also run the fuel customs intake. What a huge difference in power.
Just fitted a k & n panel filter to my wifes small 1.6 automatic Nissan Note. Cost £42, priced up air filter with Nissan £20. The difference is huge, old filter was grubby so any filter would have made a big difference. Seems much more smooth through the gears & not tested long enough but im almost certain that the increased mpg will pay for itself. Also will not need to clean for long time. No increase in performance/bhp but was not bought for that, just for economy.
@mossow71 most autoparts stores sell the K&N Recharge kit.the kit comes with the cleaning solution and special oil for K&N filters.the oil that is put on filters is what catches the small dirt particles.
@Tooextrememx see u r doing it the smart way, added filtration and always oiled. Most people probably do neither. my local dealership told me to get rid of the K&N for a stock filter. i might switch to a UNI, no air box lid and an HMF Comp series slip on. i mostly ride on a dry field and lakes (in the winter of corse). hopefully ill get some good gains from that!
@Matt06yfz alone the K7N will block the same amount of dirt as a stock filter if it is properly oiled.i myself added the K&N filter lid for added filtration and to get the air box lid removed effect without the risk of added dirt getting into my box.
I finally got my K&N air filter today. I may do an unbox and install vid. The instructions didn't say anything about oiling it. Did yours come pre-oiled? It looks and smells like it could be already lubed up.
I need to get one. I actually think the previous owner had a K&N in there and the person I bought it from swapped it out for a foamy. It's jetted and performs like it's not getting enough air. I get the popping on decel and slight bog on holeshot. I'm currently running a No Toil foam filter lid off but it still seems like it's not getting enough air.
@chardoc89 Jetting is the adjustment of fuel that is put into your engine while it is running.with some upgrades you need to either increase or decrease the amount of fuel the carberator puts into your engine.
@chardoc89 i have seen performance increases from slight to moderate on everything i have put K&N filters in,and every that i have put a K&N filter in has gotten better fuel mileage.
yes you will need to jet it.the filter lid is almost identical as running with the lid off,and the added air flow causes your jetting to be thrown off.
i bought a GYTR filter and plate for mine, i wanted a filter lid, i just cant see spending 80 on that, i just throw the lid on on high water riding, lol im cheap

im running the stock filter. K&N lets in too much dirt. theres where the "more air flow" comes in...........

@jarreau2001 if the filter is a red color that means it is already oiled.usually all K&N filters come preoiled.

@Tooextrememx
Yeah it's red. Thanx!

@Tooextrememx awesome thanks, im wondering whether i should throw a K&N filter in my accent 2005. think there will be a performance increase?

did you have to jet it when you installed the powerlid on? I am looking at their website and it says it comes with jet?

the only thing is if your quad is jetted to riding with the filter off when yuou put the lid on you jetting will be way off.
i did that in the beginning but my quad was popping alot when i put the stock lid back on for them wet days.
