  • Hey, but now, what do you do if you need to turn while the winch is working, won't it be beter if you do it from the throtle?

  • Hi there, just want to thanks man without this video i wud never have got my winch working.

  • where to buy that friend

  • nice job buddy. i would have never thought of that. thanks!

  • hey, would you sell that rangrover\landrover body in the backround

  • Where did you get the winch?

  • Thanks now i got a winch

  • i wanna know how to make that harness

  • the pins are wether its male of female not the connector

  • That's an easy idea mate and so straight farward the only down side is ya gotta chose steering or winch and ya gotta manually handle the crawler to change

  • @VsV6Ute -Yes, not perfect but if you only have a 2 channel or a 3 channel with 3rd as on-off only this is not a bad solution.

  • I can`t find the how to on rccrawler i need help.

  • Ok. Gotcha. Thx for the info. R u gonna do any new vids coming up pretty soon. Well I live super close to Lytle Creek. So I'm not that far I think lmao.

  • @pantablo, yah I agree. I watch ur vids. Where is valasquez rocks. I think that's what it's called but not sure. LQQks like fun. Next time u roll, let me know. I'll try and do my best to go. Thx, deuces. Ka12nage22

  • @ka12nage22 -Its called Vasquez Rocks. Its in Agua Dulce which is just south of Acton/Palmdale off the 14 fwy.

  • Hey pantablo. Big fan of ur mods. Do u ever go to Lytle creek. If so let me know. I'll roll w/ ya. I have some vids out. Just started out w/ vids. My buddy and I scale out their. He works at Pegasus Hobbies in Montclair. Their gonna have a scaler section coming pretty soon. Thx. Ka12nage22

  • @ka12nage22 -I have never been but a couple of the local guys have gone and invited me in the past. Its a nice place, especially if its close to you.

    P-

  • Hey sorry about my comments i thought it came with a control unit that controls the winch but i just found out you have to uy that seprate sorry.

  • @idoeverything733 -No problem. We all make mistakes. Try not to be so judgmental next time... Cheers.

  • Push the button that controls the winch. you already go up their to flip your on and off switch you might as well just push the pinch control button. Ass.

  • @idoeverything733 -that turns on the winch. Now how do you control it? You would either need a 3rd channel or do something like I show here. Think your comment through before posting stupid shit.

  • honestly thats fucking stupid if it comes with control you might as well go up their and just push the button...

  • @idoeverything733 -push what button? WTF are you talking about? If you dont have a 3rd channel on your radio, just switch the winch/servo button to winch and you got winch. The winch controller does nothing if you don't have a 3rd channel on your radio. Ass.

  • that a cool idea

  • what website did you get that winch and does it come with the control swith to use the winch.plzz awensor i am putting one on my my maxstone 16

  • @airsoft948 -It's made by 3Racing. It's a crawler winch with control. Google it and you'll find tons of places that sell it. Should be around $25 if it has the control, which you need.

  • can I put that winch on a 1/16 scale maxstone rockcrawler plzzzzzzzz awensor

  • @airsoft948 -I'm sure you could, but at that scale it would look way too big, almost 2x too big.

  • could you make one for me plz i can pay you for it.

  • @owninghard1996 -sorry, I'm not making things for anyone at the moment-no time.

  • Do you have any of these switches laying around or could your friend make any more?

  • @dwayne127292 -sorry, I only have the one.

  • thanks for the tip, i bought a 3racing winch, then discovered i cant use it without a 3channel radio :D im guna attempt this myself, lol, hope ti works :D

whats the most a 3racing winch can pull ?

    coz i has the tamiya cc01.... :)

  • DUDE ILL SUBSCRIBE THUMBS UP AND EVERYTING I CAN...WELL AMOSTO LOL

HOW MUCH DID YOR JIPE COST?

IT IS GOOD ON WATER/ROCK CROSSING?

    GOOD VID

  • @SerialVelocityLFS -Thanks. This is not a jeep though. This had a Range Rover Classic body on it. It's the white body you can see in the background early in the video. This one wasnt waterproofed so I could do decent water crossings but nothing past the top of the tires.

  • @pantablo

how musch does it cost im thinking to buy one for christmas :D

    please awnser ;)

  • @SerialVelocityLFS -Best first RC (I'm guessing its your first scale truck) would be one of the Axial ready-to-run trucks (SCX-10TR, Honcho, etc). I think they're in the $300 range. They work great out of the box too.

  • @SerialVelocityLFS

    aint that a bit expenive..?

  • this is a nice fix. i think this will work good on the micro losi scaler project i want to start. it will take a lot of wire tucking from the looks of it but worth being able to keep the stock (read cheap) radio. thanks

  • @kestral0202 -Glad this helps. Its not ideal as its best to have steering and winching together, but if you only have a 2ch this is a good compromise.

  • I have a honcho and was thinking about a winch, but I didnt want to get a new reciever. Thanks for the tip. Im getting a 3racing winch.

  • @kfieber1996 -Glad it helped. This will work with any winch in general (Not 100%). You can use it with a servo winch just as easily. All this is doing is switching between things, whether its steering servo, winch, servo winch , etc.

  • nice idea

  • Thanks hobao14.

  • wow thanks cool man thanks i subscriped

  • Thanks bodybag101.

  • very cool !

  • @250cc4stroke

    Thanks. Hope it helps.

  • Thanks dude worked a treat

  • Glad it worked for you!

  • do you have a link to that mod for the tq 3 remote? for the swich conversion?

  • @bradyhpifirestorm

If you google "tq3 mod" the first post is one method, that is not recommended, but the second to last post in that linked thread is the one that describes it.

  • thanx man, i did as you instructed for the switch in the frame and my 1/10 scale tamiya now has a winch and thought id thank you personally for the advice , it worked just fine , look for vids on my channel in the near future...thanx again...

  • Awesome! Glad to hear it helped.

  • rcalecrawler ya need to get a cut off switch or the winch will just run either back and forth with no stoping ever ..you have to add a switch to cut the power to the winch from the controler ...im gonna try my hand at a few how to vids soon ..

  • Thats right, you can't just use the winch. You also need to buy the controller it comes with.

  • hey guys i figured the switch whiring out its simple ill try to get a detailded video how to make the switch for you all soon...

  • hey pantablo i have seen a lot of ur work and i love it i am a friend of froader "Colin" and want to do the same for my crawler and get my winch to work with my 2 channel radio but do not know how to make that switch can u tell me who i can talk to on maybe getting one? thanks a lot. o and my brother loves ur range rover.

  • Thanks PCGAMuppet but you're going to have to make that switch up. You can't buy one.

  • nice u r a genesis im going to try that i wonder if that will work 4 rear steering but without the switch

  • Thanks a bunch! Hope the 4ws works for you.

  • nice idea mate :)

look also my latest video, I make winch control unit from rc toy car

(i don`t have 3racing control unit, i have only winch, but it works with saparetly radio) :DDDD

  • Good explanatory video :) I so want a RC4WD winch (If they ever get them in-stock again)

    -Tom :)

  • Thanks TheLoyale. Hope it helps.

  • y not just get a 3 racing winch you can get those all over the net

  • Cool idea. I am getting a 2.4ghz 4ch traxxas radio. Will the 3racing winch work perfeclty with it??? And can I use the main battery I use for the car for the winch also or do you have to have a seperate battery.

  • Thanks rcscalecrawler. Not sure if the 4ch traxxas radio will work. One of the 4 channels needs to be a 3 position switch, so you can feed out, stop, feed in. If its just an on/off switch it wont work as is.

Yes, as far as I know you can splice the winch into the main battery. I think thats what I did on this one but can't recall.

  • great job , will work pritty good , but hate to rain on your parade but you need to steer while winching out of stuff

  • Thanks cleanerwrasse77. I don't think steering is 100% necessary every time you winch. Sometimes you just need to be stationary or reverse. Regardless, this is still useful to anyone that doesn't have a radio capable of a 3-position 3rd channel. So its no steering while winching or no winch at all.

  • That helped me

  • Awesome! Glad to hear it helped.

  • Quick question, doesnt look like the L-chassis but have you dealt with them at all? i gotta ditch my stock MRC chassis but dont wanna buy the L if my idea of making my own chassis would be wiser. i have the steel already. Cant see wasting money if i'll ultimately ditch the L chassis in the long run. I'm just dying to make a hand bros style CMS mount on a mrc.

  • Nope, not L-trail chassis. This is hand made cut from 1/2" square steel tubing, bent to shape then split to form equal C channels.

Make your own if you have materials, tools and will to do it. More rewarding in the long run.

  • hey thanks again for the info buddy.. have a good 1 ...

  • My pleasure.

  • hey buddy got a question for ya ?do you charge your losi battery for the mini on a 15 minute quick charger or do you use the stupid 3 hour charger that came with it? thanks again for your time good buddy...

  • Actually I have a little converting wire, with the Losi battery connector on one end and a tamiya large connector on the other. I use that to hook up the Losi battery to my regular Piranha digital peak charger.

  • Awesome, i was wondering how to hook up the winch since my 3rd channel is used by the r2 2 spd tranny, thanks P!

  • Perfect. You can switch the R2 and winch.

  • cool chopped up losi !!!!! yea i cut mine up to but i will have to say i dont think it came out as good as yours.... and i just added the 3 racing winch and a tq3 controler but i do not like how it works so i will convert the 2.4 losi radio thanks again ol buddy for the cool video and the tips

  • Thanks olskillywilly. The white body in the background goes with this chassis. Check out my latest Hansen Dam video to see it in action.

    Hope these tips help!

  • thx 4 the big comment! ;o)

  • I got clarification.

wires from receiver (rx): signal (white or yellow) to center post of the 6 posts. (+) wire to OTHER center post.

all negative wires bundle together, not on any posts.

remaining 4 wires to any posts, one to a post.

  • I can't believe it. It's a very good idea.

I'm from germany, so I didn't understand all that you tell in the video. But I will try to make a switch like yours. :o)

Do you only switch the orange/yellow wire? And the black and red wire are connected?

    thx for this video!

    Mike.

  • Thanks Mike.

As far as I can understand from the guy that did the switch for me it has 2 sets of 3 posts inside, one set on each side of the actual switch mechanism. On first side with one plug, the center wire goes to the center pole, the other two on other two poles. On other side, with two plugs, the center wire goes to center and the other two go to the corresponding poles (ie ground to same side as ground on other plug end, etc). I hope this is clear.

  • its always the simple solutions that amaze me the most. thanks man, i love all your how-to vids.

  • Thanks lilly26melita! I appreciate it and hope they help. If I can figure this stuff out it wasnt completely in a vacuum, so I try to pass on what I discover so others can also try it.

  • Nice demo bro

  • Thanks bdaddy23. Figured there had to be loads of people like me that didnt have a 3rd channel but wanted to take advantage of a winch.

  • Nice and cheap idea ;) Thanks

  • No problem. I'm a nice and cheap kind of guy, lol.

  • brilliant

  • Thank you! Being, er, "frugal" makes you think out of the box sometimes, lol.

  • GENIOUS! ANOTHER option i did one time is to tie the winch motor into the motor wires with a switch. light throttle gives a little wheelspeed and winch action also.. thanks for sharing

  • Thats cool, but you still have to switch the winch on/off right? Its not running the entire time you are running the motor...

  • yes correct. you da man for how tos?

  • LOL, sorry, you're on your own for that one. I don't fully understand how that would work...

  • Amazing idea pantablo .. so simple and so ... amazing ... ok ... sell those to RPP they will sell good take good care amigo.

  • Thanks morongotongo123. I had this idea but couldn't realize it until my buddy made that switch for me.

This wouldn't be the best solution if you do scale comps because of the touch penalty but for the rest of us its a great way to avoid the expensive radio.

  • scale comps ?? hehe .. not here in Mexico.... i dont even have anyone to play with :-(

im like the song says ... all by myself lol

anyway nice idea and i still think you should produce those as Pantablo TM.

you have a name and everybody know you so .. we all know it would be only Quality products !

anyway pantablo keep the good work and always pleasure to learn new tips and tricks from you. Have a good day. LorenzoZ

  • LOL, Thanks Lorenzo. I like the TM idea...

  • wow, i would never have thought of that, well maybe. i just wouldent know about wireing or anything.

  • I had a little help wiring the switch. We all need help somewhere. Hope this helps you.

  • yea I'm taking a class in school about wiring. so i might end up putting something togeather in class.

  • Thank pantalo

  • You're welcome. Hope this was helpful!

  • Very good idea! Just putting the switch in an accessible part of the car and its perfect. Well done

  • Thanks! I just didnt want to spend lots of money on yet another radio. my day to day one is a Futaba 3PM ($180) and I have a handful of other cheap radios. Last thing I need is another radio, lol.

  • thats pretty cool man, are you gona make a video using this?

  • Eventually I will. This rig still has a bit of work before its ready for "testing" but I may mount a winch on my rover or LR3 and do a video with that.
