how did you get this look ( like i said earlier) it looks like some action movie or war film or something thats fast I cant describe it to much but I would love to know how to get this effect
it looks like frame mode, the gl2 has a menu setting to give it that sped up shutter look. but most cameras you can speed up the shutter, but you lose some of your light
a good set of lights and a good mic. i use worklights 500w and umbreella's to bounce the light and the rode videomic, the one that fits onto the canon hv20
I have the GL-2 and yes I have experienced the rewind error. Apparently it causes a piece to wear out while rewinding. Soon after you get dirty tape head errors, remove tape errors and then just corrupted footage.
have you expierienced any problems with your rewind? cqause i read many reviews and some of them said it has a bad rewind system and it will say remove cassete? have u expirenced it cus im lookin to get this camera
Lordybob, I just bought the vx2100, and trust me not many people are spending 2000 on a camera. They are very much still professional. Not many can make the jump nessesary as well to shoot hdv or hd footage...5000 camera, 3000 comp, tripod, lighting, etc etc etc.
hey man. Turn of auto gain control and open the iris up full. shutter speed at 50/70 or something. NTSC to 24p will never look as good as film/ or HDV. Remember, minidv is now prob the lowest consumer thing (apart from minidvd, EEEEUUURRRGGHH!!)
why would you get this $3000 camera?, the video quality is horrible, my canon hv40 has better quality than this

Load in 1080p and crop your scenes - it will look dynamic - 480p kills the true potential of your work.

Do you know those people you film?(man on phone)

the sound makes it look like amateur. Maybe it was the compression of the video that makes it hard to see the difference.

I can't wait to get one. I am making a studio for under 500 dollars (excluding the camera of course) any suggestions for a new prosumer like myself?

Looks good, but I agree on the DVX comment. i love my DVX (it's the original, not the A or B).

Check out my newest GL2 footage and tell me what you think:
.../watch?v=1U_cuJ58G4A (can't seem to use links...)
or just search for "TOM - a short film"

Thanks for your responses!
I have no use for an HDV camera cause it is not yet something we have in my country...
Although I would love to get my hands on these canon XH-A1...

It is quite amazing though in low light I haven't figured out a way to make it noise-free. any suggestions?
Right now I'm working on how to transform my NTSC to 24p with Magic bullet...
This just doesn't look good when I do it, something to do with output format...

get lights. if you must shoot in low light there's nothing you can do
