Be careful inserting new mags; Toks have been known to not only release the slide but fire off a round to those who slam the clip in with the palm of their hand.
@taylorman1949 Yeah, I haven't encountered that yet, but I have heard of one or two people with older TTCs mentioning that. I wonder if the aftermarket safety reduces the likelihood of that or not, I'm not 100% sure how that safety lever works.
I own the tt33 and I have to say it's a little better overall than the Romanian ttc. Was the ttc accurate? Because what I can see, you couldn't hit a truck from 2 yards away
@1337Leva That's by a guy that's never fired a semi-auto before that day...take a look at episode 116 or other TTC vids, it's a lot more accurate...frankly, it's really good now that it's broken and in the hands of a better pistol shooter now, because that's not my strong suit.
Given the snappy nature of the round, how does the recoil of this stand up to say a standard .45 in a 1911 or a 9mm Springfield XD? Thinking about one of these for pistol classes but Im not sure.
@foughtwolf I have not fired a .45 yet, just .44 Mag. and 9mm...and I would say it's comparable to the 9mm, at least in this gun. In fact, it's very well balanced, I really like it for the price I paid...it's my carry weapon more times than not, my P-64 is better for conceal and carry, but it's just too light for 9x18 Makarov. Shooting this Tokarev is like butter!
Thats awesome news. :) Im stuck between chancing the shoddy ammo with this that might dry up entirely or getting one of the mid level Ruger double stackers in 9mm for duty work/protection.
@foughtwolf Well, look at it this way...so long as you can own a gun, there will ALWAYS be 9mm and Ruger stuff available...but these Romanian Tokarev TTCs are cheap, and won't always be around...and 7.62x25 isnt' store-bought available, but you can get it fairly cheap still, no more than some common ammo like .38, 9mm, etc. Tell you what, I F'ING love it, does a great job as my "travel" gun. Relatively accurate, virtually NEVER jams, etc. twice in the last 750 rounds I put thru it.
@savage1r Thought about that...although so far, approaching 800 rounds put through this beast, the spring still seems very stout...enough to be a real pain in the ass when you put it back in after cleaning, that's for sure.
@20thcenturyfilmdocs Yeah, I got mine from jgsales and it worked great for about 750 rounds. Then the slide started feeling really loosey goosey and I started getting lots of jams. Sold it with the remaining 500 rounds I had for a PF-9.
@rarekind40 I would agree when using any other kind of ammo, but the dealer specifically stated that this surplus ammo had some hairline cracks that will appear as ruptures after firing. Nothing to do with the gun, it's all the ammo. I'm up to about 800 rounds shot, and none of the non-surplus ammo is showing neck splits like that so far.
@20thcenturyfilmdocs Well that has to be a relief ! Recently obtained my C&R and have been looking at these and the 1895 Nagant , really appreciate the nostalgia and looks . What is that 7.62x25 running thee days ? And where did you find such a great deal on that ! Feel free to inbox me !
@rarekind40 I'm finding prices ranging from $21.95 from Cabellas (for Sellier/Bellot lame-o ammo) down to $15.95 from AIMSurplus for the really good Prvi Partisan stuff (when it's in stock). All FMJ of course. Surplus stuff comes and goes, I'm not seeing any available online right now. And as for this gun, it was a Christmas special from Southern Ohio Gun...from Dec. 2010, no such deals this year.
@20thcenturyfilmdocs Ahh ... I miss read the date ! That's what pain killers and surfing on the net gets me LMAO ! Spent two hours searching for prices like you mentioned and just couldn't seem to find any , guess a time machine is in order !
cz52 mags are almost identical on the ttc or 9 mags. if you look at them they look similar.. theres a little hole on one side. that youll have to duplicate on the cz mags. dremel works wonders! hope this helps
That's one heck of a good-looking gun. You might take a look at your bore, though. My surplus Romanian TTC with Polish surplus ammo printed like a shotgun at 10 yards. I checked out the barrel and it was pitted and pocked like the surface of the moon. After swapping the barrel with a Chinese chrome-lined barrel, the TTC shoots that same 1950s Polish surplus ammo like a laser. As long as I bring my A-game I can shoot one-hole groups.
@3cl3c71k0r Nah, see the next couple of vids where I clean it, the barrel is in excellent shape. However, I may want to get one of those chinese ones anyway, where did you get yours?
@20thcenturyfilmdocs - I just checked out your tear-down video. Wow. The extra $10 for hand-picking was definitely worth it. You got an amazingly pristine gun. I love my TT, but it ain't that pretty. The barrel was garbage, and I had to replace the slide stop, too. I think I bought my Chinese barrel from SKS Man - www_*_sksman_*_com
@20thcenturyfilmdocs - Oh, yeah. I forgot that these barrels don't have the link or pin included. I haven't seen a full barrel assembly for sale in a long time.
Wow, that is one big ugly safety that they bolted on there. Out here in BC Canada, we are being flooded by Russian TT33's in original condition with no import marks and no external safety. I got my 1945 Izzy a few months ago, and she shoots and looks flawless. Good deal for only $180 CDN!!!! Also, my TT33 as well as the one that my friend has goes into battery if you slam the mag in with some force. I think that it was meant to do that for quick deployment in the field...

Polish doesn't have longer grip and it holds also 8 rounds same as the Rumanian or Russian. Yugoslavian M57 is the only one with the longer grip and it holds 9 rounds..
@FearTheGremlin Yeah, it's back up to $189.95, but still, that's not too bad! When you get yourC&R license, I would make this and a M91/30 your first purchases!
hell yah! Looks like a fun pistol. I have had that happen befor when I load my mags to fast and have it jam with my ruger. a trick I use now is after loading I slap the back of the mags on my hand a few hard times. that trick has stop all misfeeds for me. yah there is nothing like poping some good old pistols at the range.Got to love it
@dizzyman67 Hmm I'll keep that in mind, going to the range with it next week...WITH the camera, so I'll get some great Castle Wolfenstein first-shooter shots LOL
what i have always wanted to do, was take a tokarev and a makarov pm and compare them side by side and compare their performance. good video by the way, tt-33 looks like its a lot of fun.
@grayman246 I thought there was a vid out there by someone who's done exactly that....damn, I'm gonna have to look for that now! Tnx for the props, they are definitely worth owning! You should definitely get one of these, or the Yugo 9 round version...
@hillboy762 Yeah, per my summary, I had one jam due to me not pushing the bullet in far enough on the top of the clip before loading it one time...but I chucked it out and was shootable on the next clip. Pretty tough gun, very user (and idiot) friendly!
@semiautoriflelover LOL, I'm probably going to do that someday, but in a more seclusive range setup...because I know the range officer would call me everything but the Son of God if he saw me being all gangsta like that...ese!
@shootcentermass Sorry, I typically send a notification to my friends...most folks sub, but don't really get the updates, I'll lay off that and just send the emails for playlist notifications...
@glock10mm Yeah, it's pretty stout, but not overpowering...didn't realize until looking at the actual bullets as to how small (diameter wise) the bullets really are, but they seem to have pretty good stopping-power!
@malfor86 Yeah, I want one of those too, but they are kinda weak in the stopping-power dept., and the ammo is hella-hard to find in stores. I should probably get one though, just to have since they are so cheap!
