@stbreal The transformer on the Bassman is original and wants to see a 4Ohm speaker load. You can be off while going up by say 100% to say 8 Ohms and be okay. Dont go down though, because a 2 ohm load is almost a dead short and the transformer and power tubes will see it that way too!
So if the two 412s have four 16Ohm speakers wired in parallel then yes you could safely hook 'em up...
I have a 1973 bassman 100, and I have to say on the 2nd channel mine sound's way more jangle than this one, with the bright switch on it is like mine turns into a twin reverb kind of sound, very bell like tones, I love it, I am leaving that channel well alone, but I am going to mod the bass channel to make it better for guitar, putting new caps in it, orange drops, and re-tubing it.
is the bassman 100 to loud for home use, what I mean is, I live in a detached house, so next door is 25 metres away, and it would be going in the garage, so it is not a big problem disturbing house guests, as garage is at the other end of house, not sitting room end, is this to loud for garage use ? if it is I am going to have to keep looking for a silverface deluxe reverb or silverface princeton reverb ( bummer ) as the bassman is way better sounding.
First off, Fender's unmarked "ground selector" installed on the back of many amps is a misnomer. The ground selector was used on Fender amps installed with original 2 prong power plugs. For safety reasons, NO AMPLIFIER should be using a 2 prong plug power cord. When a vintage amp is updated to use a 3 prong power plug(grounded) the ground switch is bypassed(not used). I left mine in the original spot because I didnt want a hole in the back of the amp.
@mattis40 thank you ...my ' 65 Bassman had a 3 prong power cord since I bought it used in 1973 ( i don't know if from factory or since it was put on the market in West
Germany as I know ) so as you say the ground switch is disabled ?
What a dip shit in the video... these aren't nosiy amplifiers, its that fucking pedal he has plugged into the son of a bitch that is making all that noise and if its not part of the pedals fault its probably because he has it plugged into a shitty circut where something else like a dimmer light is drawing power and making noise. These have a very acceptable noise floor even when dimed.
Yep, sounds like an AB165. Harsh. Needs the tone stack cap mod and resistor mod and a few other things that gets it smoother sounding like the AA864. That's not a '66 logo on the grille, doesn't have the tail. Fender did away with the tail in '73. Should look like the cab logo. I have two AB165s, both modded to that sweet AA864 spec. Not hard to do or expensive, just watch your hands in there, drain off the filter caps
Did you replace the gril and logo, it looks like a more modern one shouldn't it have the old style logo and blue silver grill like the cab It looks like the ones aftet the silverfaces when Fender went back to the black face - in the eigthies
Actually, when I purchased the amp the logo was missing, and the grill cloth had been painted black. When I finally got around to sprucing up, I got on ebay and sniped what I thought to be the first proper front panel I could get my hands on. It looked good(and dirty) in the photos, and when I took it out back and cleaned it with greasylightnin' the panel being used was the result.
just because its vintage doesnt mean you have to play vintage shit!!!!!! I wanna see some whale thrash, death, or some METAL OUT OF THESE!!!

Also it could need a good biasing job, its probably on the verge of red plating when you hear a noise floor that loud.
