i run Visual Studio on my oscilloscope and develop software. My oscilloscope is also connected to the internet (broadband). I am getting 200MHz/s download speeds.
I want to try this when I find the original boards, a power supply, and a '50s oscilloscope (I like them better than digital and later square analog ones). It might not work as well, but fuck it, I will try it anyway.
Also, I too feel bad for the game's deflection circuits. Such an awesome game.
If you can get the Z output working with the scope, the retrace lines will go away. I think you may need a simple inverter-amplifier circuit to do it though.
Nice straight lines on that scope, must be a good one.
Star Wars was a cool game, really pushed the limits of XY technology. I feel sorry for the deflection circuits in the monitor :-)

There should be a 'Z' channel for blanking the retrace lines.

I never thought of playing a vector game like that on an oscilloscope. Nice.

Use a scope with a Z-blank input to avoid the retrace lines

Actually, you need a pixel frequency of 148 Mhz to display 1920x1080
