@synsei1 The keyboard was out of an old tube organ but it was so old that they were made out of wood (like piano keys). It has a pin block, felts and all. I got two keyboards out of the organ but not much else. The plans for a keyboard are also on the MFOS site.
I'm kind of an ape man in that regard. I've learned to live with my condition. Electrolysis is out of the question until they come up with a nuclear powered version of the device.
Not at all. I use some of the soft synths (mainly for strings and pianos) included with Cakewalk SONAR and they sound great. I just like building things too and I really do enjoy analog sounds. No the vsti stuff is amazing but I like stuff that has actual physical patch cords attached more that's all.
I.... am impressed... Dang it, if i've seen this video before i ordered my mini synth diy from MFOS i would've immediately ordered the CD with it, so i can listen to it while i put it together. But alas, it'll have to come in the mail later :D
Building sounds with modular synths seems like a lot of tinkering. So it's basically about breaking down the tone/sound of an instrument and building each piece of that sound?
@adrianjcc modular synthesis is the most direct way of programming... in the same way as you would program in a prewired synth (a sh101, for example) you will do the same but on a modular synth you get the oportunity of designigin your own arquitecture for the synth: you will decide how many vco, vcf, lfo, etc you will use, and you will decide how the conections will go, so you can "create a different synth" every day... the programming concepts relay the same although
Love the wooden keyboard! Was it an old electronic organ you found in a garage sale or a trash bin ?

I was wondering........ you spend hard effort on your analogue synths......
do you sort of detest vsti synths?

Thanks for sharing this with us Ray.
Really like the cd, especially Bach's Musical Offering.
Really enjoying making the modules too, something really nice about putting these together and hearing the results!

Thanks for sharing this with us Ray. The Musical Offering is truely wonderful, but that's not to distract from the other tracks.
Enjoying making your modules at the moment.

I was wondering how you got those sounds. Now I have an Idea.. You have more than just a minimoog, Profet 5 & Reason!
Modular systems are so much money. Beyond what I have ever dreamed of having! Makes me feel inferior!
But, Music is all about resorcefullness as well as equipment!

great little inside look! And yes, like with VCAs, you can never have enough patch cords ;)

That's about the size of it. It can be tedious but that's part of the fun.
