It is really hard to tell due to the fact that after most executions the case files are deleted.

I just don't know. Both sides of this seem to be right, and yet wrong at the same. I see the validity of the argument that the killers have put themselves into the situation. Life needs punishment or else nothing could be controlled. However, I could not stand seeing someone die right in front of my eyes no matter what crime they have committed. I agree with dave, for the most part... Those people are in that position for causing other people pain, they should feel pain too. Though on the other hand, its not like the people giving injections are some randoms off the street. They know what they're doing!
To be honest, I don't see what the problem is? If they suffer - SO WHAT!! they are NOT on that table for singing too loud in church. Personally; I think that if the death penalty is continued, then it should be televised, as it's of no deterrent when hidden behind closed doors. The 3 drug protocol is a lot more humane then the way the people on the gurney's victims died. They didn't even get the chance to have the attempted administration of anesthesia to them.

This is all 100% true except what is left out is that sodium thiopental is an ULTRA short acting barbiturate, and it's effects are metabolized by the body within minutes. Anyone with a barbiturate history or a benzodiazapine history will be ever less susceptible to it's effects. Nothing but torture either way in my opinion.

It's being put to death of course it's not humane. What they need to do is have prisoners go out the Jim jones way and spike some sweet tasty alcohol punch with some hidden poison that just overdoses them on happiness. But my issue with this point is that you argue against the injection itself based on human error. Humans are not perfect, so this will happen with any man-run process. My question; what do you think is the most effective form of execution?

I do want to say this though, it is alot better then strapping an awake and alive person in a chair and have their body filled with electricity until death, or their necks broken and airways cut off until suffication from hanging. I will say though they need to take better percautions for this.

To all who believes that this is inhumane, grow a pair. The fact that lethal injection today is virtually painless isn't fair. Think of the families who will never see their children, parents, or other loved ones ever again. I personally think they should inflict as much pain as possible during the process of lethal injection to give the prisoner a good feeling of a small percentage of the pain the family felt. The victims of these "people" went through far more pain and they leave holes in families that can NEVER be repaired and sometimes the families are destroyed. People like that don't even deserve a humane way to die, so if some executions go wrong and the prisoner is in pain for 7 minutes or less, I won't lose sleep over it, I'm sure they played with their victims for way longer. I had a cousin that was raped and then murdered, Lethal Injection is a much better way for them to go. Then what they did to their victims. I'm sure my cousin would have loved an anesthetic to render her unconscious before she was put through hell and murdered...Let's see all victims really go through the torture. Lethel injection has its issues. Cause of the problem is that sodium thiopental is injected so fast it has no chance to take effect before the second drug Pancuronium bromide is already on its way and causing suffocation. Potassium Chloride is quicky sent in next. The inmate is still conscious feeling the effects of drug 2 and three but not the first one

I have researched this and saw statistis. Many times they do not feel it if it is administered correctly however many also do feel the pain. I firmly believe sex offenders and serial killers deserve to feel the pain for the brutal torture they inflicted on others especially innocent childen. Murders should get life in prison. @classikal01 It's not needed to kill, but to prevent the prisoner from moving around. Potassium will cause much muscle spasticity, which would make the injection seems a bit uncomfortable to watch. The spasms are completely uncontrolable.
I personaly still think its better than hanging, or the guillitine (spelled that wrong :/) even if it is sometimes botched, when it's not its still more humane than other execution methods.
Interesting in most cases at hospitals with exception of a few its not the doctors that administer Anastasia. There are doctors who are certified to, anistesiologist, most tho are not but rather anestitist which is a trained tech. So this is not accurate.
p.s. What I find amazing is some people are now prefering a firing squad to lethal injection..... to me this is obvious pain Vs. falling asleep.... as thousands do every day in the operating room. so finally... where is all this evidence for problems with the lethal injection, and if it is a problem.... just throw in some propofol! Hi, just came across this.....I think there's a major flaw in your logic here.... you say sodium thiopental is administered incorrectly..... how incorrectly can this be.... all you need is I.V. access, to administer all three drugs.... as long as you have that, there's not ever much problem with it, and so the effects of the next two wouldn't be felt... and likelihood is, if the thio doesn't go in, the others won't go in...... did you mean not giving it enough time to work?

It is really hard to tell due to the fact that after most executions the case files are deleted.
A true fact tho is that after reinstatement, 1976, 11% of people on death row have been released due to innocence of the crime. Once again sorry I want to inform not to act like a politician. lol

I just don't know. Both sides of this seem to be right, and yet wrong at the same. I see the validity of the argument that the killers have put themselves into the situation. Life needs punishment or else nothing could be controlled. However, I could not stand seeing someone die right in front of my eyes no matter what crime they have committed. Personally; I think that if the death penalty is continued, then it should be televised, as it's of no deterrent when hidden behind closed doors. This is all 100% true except what is left out is that sodium thiopental is an ULTRA short acting barbiturate, and it's effects are metabolized by the body within minutes. It's being put to death of course it's not humane. What they need to do is have prisoners go out the Jim jones way and spike some sweet tasty alcohol punch with some hidden poison that just overdoses them on happiness. That'll make death row inmates begging to die, and not worried about appeals. Atleast make death enjoyable. Is that not humane? We couldn't help the victims but atleast we can still give respect.

For me lethal injection or any other way of execution is inhumanity. No matter what your reason is, all of us are not entitled to kill somebody. however, i think life-sentence is enough to pay what have you done wrong to your fellow. Thats the right way of paying and regreting your sins. Life is the most special gift of our God to us. And everyone deserves a second chance.

Not to offend anyone, but remember that these people are murderers, child molesters, etc. I appreciate and respect your point-of-view, but one of your points addresses that the officer giving the injection is not adequately trained to do so; I agree. But my issue with this point is that you argue against the injection itself based on human error. Humans are not perfect, so this will happen with any man-run process. My question; what do you think is the most effective form of execution?

From reality we all die someday right.... But you dont realy forgot that day in one sence because you alway waiting for the one you hert to be forgive before you go and that is very painfull... the body dozent suffer as much like the soul because you cant not lie to your soul and that's why you choose automaticaly to be purificated or if you prefer punish from your own soul

Okay you have a very very vailid point here. I do want to say this though, it is alot better then strapping an awake and alive person in a chair and have their body filled with electricity until death, or their necks broken and airways cut off until suffication from hanging. I will say though they need to take better percautions for this.
Also, if the person has killed more then 10 people I don't give a shit what happens, they deserve it.

To all who believes that this is inhumane, grow a pair. The fact that lethal injection today is virtually painless isn't fair. Think of the families who will never see their children, parents, or other loved ones ever again. I personally think they should inflict as much pain as possible during the process of lethal injection to give the prisoner a good feeling of a small percentage of the pain the family felt. It's only fair.

The victims of these "people" went through far more pain and they leave holes in families that can NEVER be repaired and sometimes the families are destroyed. People like that don't even deserve a humane way to die, so if some executions go wrong and the prisoner is in pain for 7 minutes or less, I won't lose sleep over it, I'm sure they played with their victims for way longer. We will never be able to stop all murderers/rapists in the world, but we can prevent a person from ever doing it again

I had a cousin that was raped and then murdered, Lethal Injection is a much better way for them to go. Then what they did to their victims. I'm sure my cousin would have loved an anesthetic to render her unconscious before she was put through hell and murdered...Let's see all victims really go through the torture. And the inmates gets put to sleep and then dies. WOW! And we all feel sorry for the inmate!! Where is the compassion for the victims????? Who will stand up for them?

Lethel injection has its issues. Cause of the problem is that sodium thiopental is injected so fast it has no chance to take effect before the second drug Pancuronium bromide is already on its way and causing suffocation. Potassium Chloride is quicky sent in next. The inmate is still conscious feeling the effects of drug 2 and three but not the first one

it doesn't matter how many real murderers get dp as long as there's the possibility (and the reality) that some innocent people will get executed for crimes they did not commit.
a life sentence is a very solid punishment. believe me when i say that, life in a supermax is no picnic...

I have researched this and saw statistis. Many times they do not feel it if it is administered correctly however many also do feel the pain. I firmly believe sex offenders and serial killers deserve to feel the pain for the brutal torture they inflicted on others especially innocent childen. Murders should get life in prison. Why waste tax dollas to house and feed sexual predators and serial killers. Do you know it costs over $150,000 a year to house an inmate. These men deserve the pain to die.

@classikal01 It's not needed to kill, but to prevent the prisoner from moving around. Potassium will cause much muscle spasticity, which would make the injection seems a bit uncomfortable to watch. The spasms are completely uncontrolable.

Interesting in most cases at hospitals with exception of a few its not the doctors that administer Anastasia. There are doctors who are certified to, anistesiologist, most tho are not but rather anestitist which is a trained tech. So this is not accurate.

Hi, just came across this.....I think there's a major flaw in your logic here.... you say sodium thiopental is administered incorrectly..... how incorrectly can this be.... all you need is I.V. access, to administer all three drugs.... as long as you have that, there's not ever much problem with it, and so the effects of the next two wouldn't be felt... and likelihood is, if the thio doesn't go in, the others won't go in...... did you mean not giving it enough time to work?

I believe that the most humane form of capital punishment is decapitation. They are thought to be alive for only about 3/4 secconds after.
