When I was younger, as I sing along with the song, I 've always sang the 2nd line as:

I know it's pretty far but, that very line that I made a mistake was where I thought this is one of the most romantic song ever. I was slightly disappointed to realise I was wrong but, I still feel this is one of the most romantic song ever.

However how I interpret it is that, although it's as if he was just complimenting her looks,  the pronoun he used was 'you' instead of 'I' which implies that he's 'selfless', that he wasn't even thinking about how he felt, but it's all about her, because he was so mesmerized and overwhelmed by his feelings towards her.
