  • Just heard this for the first time, and I'm blown away at what a great song this is.

  • She is so amazing, I'm 20 but I love singer songwriters from 60's/70''s <3

  • AOTP

  • @PimpHog AOTP and Ariano too. Great Samples

  • No need to cry over people who don't deserve you. You need to ask for a better partner!

  • My Boston - Big Shug(Prod. by Premier)

  • Beautiful! Love it, <3

  • In terms of the lyrics, this may just be one of the finest songs ever written. And how beautiful is her voice ... my God, the passion ... and the orchestration is lovely, especially the cello.

  • i love this song

  • The song is so musically fantastic. She turns loneliness and depression into this great dramatic scene...which of course captures it perfectly, because when you truly lonely and despondent it becomes your whole world, a drama bigger in your own heart and soul than all others. To even be able to write a song like this implies being in a very dark place once, and feeling completely alone there. It is a gripping drama.

  • @gurlsingerfan well written princess!! u should write novels...... i luv u xxxxxx

  • 東京で大学生活を始めたころよく聞いていました。寂しさと好奇心にあふれた頃

  • Does anyone know where the youtube went of Janis Ian singing this song LIVE in concert? Hard to believe, but the LIVE version was way better than the recorded version (& the recorded was one of my favorites). Thanks.

  • This song is such a heartbreaking poetic portrait of isolation and lonelyness. I understand it as a person who comes into contact with an ex lover. She had opted out of relationships but he had forged a life; and this brings her situation into sharp contrast "you have a lovely home...no I live alone". She resents his relationships "I met your friend...what can I say?" And (thinks) "ugly wife"/(says "you have a lovely wife". The "TV in the afternoon" and "I'm not afraid" denote isolation.

  • She sang, how we felt as teens who were not in the favs group.Wonderful voice, deep soul. Great voice then and now

  • Great song! uncommercialize!

  • just saw her last night, she was GREAT and she closed with STARS, saying that she doesn't perform that song very often....so I was lucky...

  • i'm glad SNL did that old repeat last wknd. never heard of her till then. thought she was amazing.

  • she still tours, you should go see one of her live concerts.

  • I had this on vinyl and my home burned and I lost all my music along with everything else I owned...thank you so very much for this song. It describes my life after the fire.

  • This is one of the very best songs by Janis Ian. A timeless classic.

  • Saw her on SNL and she blew me away. Her live performance was amazing.

  • Me too! Saw her on SNL for the first time today. I was mezmorized! I'd love to have that version of this song.

  • Always knew about her but didn't really appreciate her until I saw that performance on an old SNL rerun in the 90's

  • I grew up listening to Janis's music, and my mother gave me her Miracle Row and Between the Lines albums. She signed my Between the Lines CD at an in-store appearance I went to with my mother. She is an amazing artist.

    ~now surfing for more Janis~

  • Lyrics said it perfectly...I used to say it all the time, listening to this album just makes ya wanna off yourself...LOVE IT! Was one of the first albums I ever bought and still have it!

  • Fabulous, she always puts her heart out into

    her words and music. Thanks

  • Wow, just wow. She is an amazing talent. Thanks for posting.

  • Janis is one of the best songwriters of this or anyother generation i,ve injoyed her music for over 30 years smokey

  • She`s the best female songwriter! For my only surpassed by one male, Tom Waits!

  • Yes, a brilliant album. Well-written, well-produced, well-performed. but it does tend to mak you want to slit your wrists.

  • @lyrics47 I do not usually do this type of thing, but, considering your comment about the wrists and the fact that you have some kind of understanding about how wonderful Janis Ian truly is, I have not really communicated with someone who I can truly relate to in a very long time, are you female? If you are creeped out by this, I will understand. Take care.

  • please i want to full this song please please or name of this music thank you

  • Hopefully someone has replied to you by now. This song is titled "In the Winter" written & performed by Janis Ian (the incredible!)It is from an early album "Between the Lines" one of her best albums. Sort of a comeback after 4 years off. Get into her music--it'll blow you away.
