Lopez had every chance to pull in ratings. The cancelation had nothing to do with his heritage. The same thing has happened to plenty of other (white) talk show hosts; Dennis Miller, Chevy Chase, Allen Thicke, Pat Sajak, etc. and Conan will suffer the same fate if his show doesn't improve. You can't come in last place again and again and expect to be renewed.

Even with the very large population of Hispanics in the US, it wasn't enough to get viewer ratings. Were they not watching either? So the whole race thing and always talking about how Latinos do things vs everybody else apparently did no good.

Too much comedy based on race backfired as badly as getting kicked to a later time for Conan and thinking it was all good. Obviously TBS thought Conan was more important. But then again those with DVR could have just recorded Lopez and got ratings.
