I'm not being funny, but if they DID bring firefly back then they would either have to 1) de-canonise Serenity, which given how great a movie it is is a fate that it truely doesn't deserve. or 2) follow on from Serenity in whichcase there would be no Book or Wash, two of the best characters gone... it won't be Firefly without them. I think it might actually be for the best that the show remains a happy memory, instead of either overwriting a good movie or being a butchered pile of crap.

@cg6823 You know what, I disagree with you about overwriting Serenity. Despite it being an excellent film, I think de-canonising it in exchange for the original intended slow and detailed revealing of the Blue Sun story line would be worth it tenfold.

@jamesconnormusic I'm not saying it wouldn't be worth it, I just don't think Serenity deserves it. I greatly perfer Firefly over Serenity, it's far better. But, for them to just de-canonise it straight away for the sake of a second series... I'm not sure that's fair. Serenity was an excellent send off for Firefly. It gave the fans one last look into the universe and wrapped up the story in the form of a very good film.

@jamesconnormusic my hope is that if they can, they set season 2 (if it ever happens) inbetween Firefly and Serenity. That way, Serenity could stay canon and we could still have Book and Wash.

I really like Firefly and Serenity. I do. Which is why -- as cool as it would be to see it again -- I hope they never make any more episodes or movies. It is what it is, and it's great. Let it stand on its own and appreciate it for being the amazing piece of art it is.

Star Trek is divided and played out with rampant contention and commercial tug-of-war.

I do believe that Firefly is in many ways more germaine to the curent social climate. I think ST was more optimistic and less realistic. I always thought the Prime Directive was a bunch of hogwash. They did NOT follow it it meticulously- only when it served as a plot device. Also, they went on about abolishing war but they sure did fight alot....
